Alfar r0 staff vs r80 alfar staff

xpiherxpiher Member UncommonPosts: 3,310

Tested the following staffs to see if staffs were fixed if they were made post hot-fix. Casted 10 fireballs and 10 infernos using each staff on the same person. The code below can be pasted into a darkfall chat box to convert to an easily viewable stat.

^Or_Alfar Mage Staff§30|Alfar Mage Staff§20|Four viciously curved crescent blades crown this fairly common staff, which is of alfar origin. §50|Weight: 1.0 kg§50|Durability: 89.79 / 91.09§50|Maker: nacitar sevaht§50|Weapon Rank: 0.00§50|Damage: 0.14§50|Attack Speed: 0.50^

^Or_Alfar Staff§30|Alfar Staff§20|The souls of thirteen slain enemies are forever trapped within the ruby head of this advanced spellstaff.§50|Weight: 1.0 kg§50|Durability: 112.37 / 113.07§50|Maker: nacitar sevaht§50|Weapon Rank: 80.00§50|Damage: 0.47§50|Attack Speed: 0.50^

Fire ball (r75) with the r0 was avg of 42 the avg of the r80 was 48 vs a guy in bone. Inferno (r53) r0 = avg of 30; r80 = avg of 36. Nearly the same damage spread, 8, when those exact two staffs were used by a person who has higher level in magic.

Didn't it use to be higher? Does it seem like it worth it to use a higher ranked staff? Did AV lower the damage cap on magic? Either way this is broken.

Pre-Patch items are as strong as r0s. You need to make new staffs, same goes for armors. (even NEW received a lot of pre-patch gear recently as they are not worth it anymore and selling them to an NPC is just...useless). Magic did not receive any decrease in damage in any way. Pre-Patch staffs all had the appropriate images but the stats of a r0 weapon which caused this massive confusion. Patch fixed this and all new staff have the appropriate stats attached.

It's sad but once you get past that it's like nothing happened.

Those were newly crafted, as in made like 4hrs ago, staffs and a lot changed, instead of mages wearing bone they are wearing OP scale and theres no point in using anything other than a black bolt becuase the damage differences are so small. Basically staffs are still broken and scale is still OP

But if you want to tank mage damage you should be forced to take the anti mage def skills, use magic buffs, or wear plate+

Odd.....I used my CorpseCall yesterday and the damage was greater. Same goes for my Darhheart and Mirdain Spellstaff, the damages are greatly different.

Those are all slow cast staffs. Slow cast staffs have always done more damage, but the range between two normal staffs 1 r80 and 1r0 is only 5 better for nearly 5x the cost to make. When you can get black bolts to have .1 dmg modifer, the same as a r0, theres no point in using anything else.

No I mean that I haven't noticed any drops in damage pre-patch and now with my (well my new corpsecall). If armors were really the issue I would've noticed something. Perhaps AV missed a staffs...you should post on Forumfall as most staffs were fixed and I have tested this myself and it is true, they were fixed.

Aventurine already acknowledged this bug. They said their going to fix it ASAP, the staffs are all registering as r0 no matter what.

They fixed that issue... supposedly. The post assumes that they fixed it with their first hot fix and thats why there is an actual damage range between the two staffs. However, the avg difference between a r0 and a r80 is negliable though. Thats the "new problem" theres a difference between them, its just not worth spending the gold to upgrade.
