Let me say this first: I'm posting here because it's almost impossible to address the faults of ncsoft's customer "service" on the official site.
I don't want to say anything about the game itself, it's perfectly okay for you to play and like it, I don't really care if you dislike it. It's a matter of personal taste and what you want in a game.
But can anyone of you really say that ncsoft is doing a good job? Look at this thread:
http://na.aiononline.com/forums/general/view?articleID=7552
Not only that, the game is full of gold farmers and other type of players you would rather not see. So honestly, shame on ncsoft.
Comments
I know how you feel unfortunately.
I posted a screenshot of a guy sat outside the Trade Broker on Spatalos 9-10 days in a row, just to show nothing had been done about it (and yes, I sent in 4 petitions in this time, as did 2 of my guildies, and a few other people who responded to me when I asked about it in the chat channels).
The post was deleted within about 30 minutes. The spammer was still sat there 2-3 days afterwards before I quit...
Sold my box of the game, never looking back.
Sad really, I liked NCSoft, and the shame of it all is, they obviously don't understand how a company can go from glory to trash in the space of 1 mmo launch. That reputation sticks with them forever.
Autofire
I know it's no excuse, but even Blizzard had horrible customer service when WoW launched.
I can't view that link... so I assume your complaining about the RMT traders outside the broker?
If not - ignore the rest of my post
Anyways - its because they come back... always friggin come back - even after the ban wave.
I spent a solid 2-3 days there when I was just too busy with work to really play... so I would check the game - there would be 6-7 RMT traders... I'd come back like 6 hours later and the entire section would be removed. All gone...
Unfortunately just a matter of time before they all came back again.... It was a very big rinse and repeat cycle. NCSoft bans them but they make a new char with a new account and comes back.... vicious cycle.
As for their customer support I can't really comment. I've never had a need to contact their support team...
One of the reasons I'm avoiding this game.
It's bad enough getting all the spam from player traders/crafters, but RMT spam on top of that? No thanks.
Pity, the PvP looks interesting but that's not worth putting up with that kind of experience the rest of the time.
I agree that it sucks horribly... no one likes being harrassed by these asshats....
Thankfully NCSoft is addressing it.... but you're wise to stay away until they have it under control (meaning - if it bothers you enough to ruin your game play it isn't worth the stress)
I just ignore them and block - and its done... they'll straighten it out eventually - there's been HUGE improvements over the past month or so

well, botters and RMT traders are being dealt with gradually apparently, i dont know how successfully but i read that quite a few thousand accounts got deleted, as there are no free trials then that has to hurt the rmt'ers exactly where it should. i can think of several reasons not to play Aion, but ... this isnt one of them...
This is what I've observed too - they get banned, makes a new account next day, gets banned again the next day, rinse and repeat.
Though I've never seen the same goldtrader for more than a week since they began their mass banhammer, it's still pretty sad to see how quickly they flock back to the game.

Well, it's a business. as Ayase has said, there are a lot of them and they are organized.
Sort of like intelligent cockroaches.
As an example, I have had excellent results reporting the store sign sellers and even one of them who whispered me. After several hours (read: about 5 or 6) they are out of the game.
but the problem is that it's not user friendly to do this. As I've been reporting them I've asked for a real in game way to essentially do what I do at their website.
What I want is an auto report button for gold sellers or spammers. Sure, the button works in game in the field but try using it in a town/city. you can't.
and it's time consuming. One nice thing was that I usually include a screen shot. At one point I was reporting a spammer in chat. I received a message from NC support that not only did they ban the one in chat, but also the gold seller store advertisment that happened to appear in the background.
Short of having people stop buying gold, it will always be a chronic problem.

You know what, it just isn't that big of deal. No really its not.
I see those people standing outside the AH's, I just run past them.
Sometimes they whisper me. I block them. Sometimes they spam /3 LFG. I block them.
Every now and then I run into bots in the wild. I usually work around them, or take the mobs from them, or train other mobs on them to get them killed. When I find them on the Elyos side I kill them.
They do not impact my enjoyment of the core game.
Perhaps OP is focusing too hard on it to find reasons not to enjoy playing?

If you're playing the game you obviously know NCSoft has been addressing the issue and it's much better than it was before. No MMO is perfect and Aion (just like WoW, FE, EvE, etc) have gold sellers / RMT.
So far it's been a great improvement and I do trust NCSoft in looking out for the community.
Flame On.
I've said it before. It is NCsoft selling the gold...
The only reason NCSoft bans those accounts is because they know the guy is going to turn right around and buy another one, thus boosting NCSofts sales.
All of you people bitching and moaning probably haven't even logged into the game since they made the changes. There is more gold spam and PM's in everyone's God of MMO's WoW now then there is in Aion. If you disagree then it's plain you simply have an axe to grind against NCSoft.
Gold Sellers are openly spamming in trade channel, local channel, mails and whispers versus having to block maybe one or two advertisements now and then and ignoring your friendly gold seller personal store sitting in front of the local AH. NCSoft have moved heaven and earth to make this game appealing for and cater to a western audience.
Just take your vitriol elsewhere, new players deserve to know that this is a AAA top notch WESTERN mmo experience. Whatever problems they had with RMT spammers has been dealt a large blow and is continuing to be a focus. If you don't like the game, move on, don't try to put others off by giving your personal experiences of stuff that doesn't exist anymore.
If the above was off topic here is my personal experience with NCSoft customer service. On my cleric i went the the pvp vendor and accidentally bought the lvl30 cloth pants instead of the mail pants. A quick e-mail to customer service and within a matter of hours my pants were swapped for the correct version. They didn't have to, it was my dumb mistake, but they did.
speaking of tos its funny that wow never asked me every single log in to accpet tos guild wars neither a new patch sure but every single log in you log in and first things first got to accept the tos that just sets me mind at ease so much let me tell ya
and cammy yea ya did kinda post a ah sucks but its a great game moments after his post totally fulfilling prophecy just get over it
I find it amusing that now I'm blamed for finding bots and goldspammers a problem. Yes, I'm trying SO hard to be negative.
You DID see that I was not attacking Aion, but ncsoft, right? Actually, I'm still playing Aion, so of course I'm enjoying it. It's BECAUSE I like Aion that I made such a big deal out of it, because for me, it was a problem. My ignore list was full. Bots were stealing mobs before my eyes. BUT I did notice it getting better recently, though I do not know for how long.
They might come back, I do hope they do not. As others said, it's an endless circle. I don't care if I'm bashed for my opinion, but I think you have to state points openely that you don't like to improve a game. And about the costumer service...I was stating MY experiences. I tried to report spammers several times, my friends did too, we all send screenshots, but we never got an answer. A thread I made about it got deleted. The thread I linked to that was eventually deleted after 1! week insulted people of different ethnic groups.
I, personally, like Aion. I see a lot of potential in it, I love the pvp and I'm having fun with my friends. But these problem were at that point of time hard to ignore. Finally, ncsoft is working on it, but why couldn't they do so during the beginning? I don't think I'm the only one who thought botters and spammers were a problem during launch. Or am I the only one? Is my position so hard to understand?
What's so bad about gold spammers? well lately theres nothing on chat anymore since the ban hammer, only on towns doing private shops,...but tbh
If you can't f*cking stand playin with those.
Then you shud f*cking comit suicide.
Compare does dumbies to real life beggers or drug dealers those kind of ' dark jobs' are anywhere. You keep cryin on real life coz some1 is makin black market? yes u might, but the GM's of real life won't do anything too lmao!
-shrugs-
Then I'm the only one who thinks so. Peace then. I stated my opinion, I got nothing more to say. You don't care about them, I do.
I did say they are getting fewer, but I will still wait a few more months until I say that they aren't a problem (for me) any more.
I would rather not compare a game to real life, but maybe I should remind you that there is something like police in real life too?
And, though, I understand what you want to say, I don't like being told to commit suicide. That isn't a very mature reply, so I would like if you didn't reply to me any more, if possible.
As i can see the date of your post. Ncsoft is showing that they are serious atm and they banned up to 50k players that are bots probally 200 of them were innocent so that sucks.
Anyways ncsoft is showing that they are serious now and they really take this game seriously. I say serious alot but i mean it they are putting themselves together from such a bad launch.
WoW was horrible at launch as well and look today the game is really famous worldwide and everyone knows about it even babies.
Aion has a terrible launch and look they are already being serious banning 50k bots lol.
Good job ncsoft and i hope you keep it up.
Also i hope ncsoft works fast on the new "expansion" of aion with the huge update on graphics and all kinds of new features. It should be a new expansion but still not yet confirmed only seems like a huge patch atm.
They already showed us trailer of it and i hope ncsoft works fast to get that update running cause hell alot of players will be coming back and i heard they fixed the grinding issue that people are crying about as well so we will see if they rly did fix it by adding tons of quests for high lvl users or if they are still not serious about grinding.
Some people love grinding though and i am included in that part thats why i can stick to mmos for over 2 years xD.
W/E enough of my "cool" story and back to the issue. ncsoft is starting to show what they want with the game and i like it.

As you can see, this thread was made before ncsoft actually decided to do their job. I stated the goldspammers and so on as my main problem, but what I really wanted to say is that I lost faith in ncsoft. I can only hope that they will finally begin to do something about the spammers and so on.
That trailer was just a vision, and, as such, it probably won't be an expansion from what I have heard. I'm drooling over the content promised in that trailer, but they stated themselves that the updates won't come any time soon.
Though, as long as they actually do what we pay them to do and give us an enjoyable game without spammers, I would be perfectly happy with the way the game mechanics are right now. I do not mind grind either, though I don't actually see why people think there is more grind in Aion than in other games...though that is, again, my opinion.

To be honest - there really is no more of a "grind" in Aion compared to other MMOs.... just with Aion - you can't solo quest your way to the level cap.... a lot of quests could be spy/rifting or group related quests... which people usually wont' even bother with and still continue to level on without taking part in these areas. Again - all in my opinion as well.
I find crafting gives a lot of XP as well - as I've gained a solid 3 levels from crafting ALONE (and I only started crafted after 28+)... so its also a nice way to break up the content for those who enjoy it.
All that aside, I can completely see how Aion isn't for everyone... but a korean grinder? Hardly.... it definitely is harder to level in Aion compared to "the game that can't be named without causing a riot" but its no different than many other MMOs on the market - including games like AoC, WAR, etc... I would rate the "grind" to be basically on par. The big difference as I mentioned above is most people want to solo quest to cap and in Aion that's really not gonna be possible.
Could aion use more content? Sure - absolutely... a Dregion instance in the 20's and 30's for STARTERS would be awesome.... I haven't even gotten to that instance yet because its a mid-40's type scenario.... there are a million ways that Aion can be improved - but the core game is very good and very well done (again read - in my opinion)... I still haven't had to grind hardly at all - and actually - I gained 3/4 of a level yesterday alone just by finishing up some old quests I haven't gotten to yet. When I get into the 40's I certainly expect it to slow down but that's the last leg... I don't care if 40-50 takes me 2 months as long as I have fun when Im playing. Fun is very subjective.... but saying "ya ok grind the same mobs over and over noobs" - I DONT UNDERSTAND for the life of me how ANY other MMO is different. WoW, WAR, AoC - explain to me what makes their quest system so vast and amazing - because I still remember "go here, kill X creature, come back and Ill give you a few gold and some xp"... Not that Aion is innovative or anything in this regard but really?? This is what people complain about??
I always have to wonder about these goldseller issues. Nobody likes them and everyone complains about them, yet they wouldn't exist as they do if people were not buying the gold. Also have to wonder if some of the people that have bought gold are the same ones that are complaining about rampant gold sellers. So yes NCSoft should be stoping these issues, but the players are to blame more so than them. As long as people buy gold the sellers will exist.
I never bought the game and yet someone, somehow managed to hack my account, use it to purchase the game, activate the code and change the questions for recovering my password.
Luckily for me the credit card listed is no longer my credit card due to getting a new one. I've not touched the master NCSoft account in months! I'm day three now trying to get this resolved. I've asked that my account be shutdown entirely as I will never, EVER purchase another NCSoft product again after this.
@Cammy: I agree. I'm having fun in Aion, so I don't see it as a grind. I don't know why people call Aion and other games an Asian grindfest, but talk differently about games like wow. I never played World of Warcraft, but isn't there any "grind"?
Well, I guess it depends on what kind of game you want. Aion is suited to my likings, but others will find it disappointing. Aion has polished, solid gameplay, but it's not the ground-breaking, totally new game many have been waiting for.
Yes, there could be more content, but I think the content that it has right now is not buggy, broken like in some other games and pvp, crafting is fun to me. So I would rather that they add content slowly, sure, who wouldn't love a bigger, more open world with underwater battles? Who doesn't drool at the possibility of flying without restrictions? Your idea of an Dregion instance in the 20's and 30's is also interesting (I recently reached 40, so I will experience that soon hopefully). But I can wait. However, I still think that ncsoft has lost a lot of credibility because of their actions. Aion in itself is -my opinion xD- a game with potential, but I don't trust ncsoft very much. At launch, they showed me that they don't see us as customers, but as money cows. Not a good way to start off, but maybe they are finally starting to understand what the western audience wants...maybe.
@BloodDuality: Who was there first, the chicken or the egg? Yes, people buying from those goldspammers are just as much as fault. That doesn't mean that ncsoft should just sit there and do nothing. Aion launched a year ago in the eastern market. At launch, they could have expected the problem. Why didn't they do anything, heck, ONE Gm would have been better than nothing. They are doing something now, but their actions might have caused them to lose subs. Do you have any proof that those complaining about goldspammers buy from them? Why would they complain about it if they profit from it? I can also say: Because you are annyoed that others are complaining, you bought gold. But that would be no more than a baseless assumption aiming to discredit you. So please no assumptions .
@Binny45: As I said, I'm not a fan of ncsoft. It's hard to know which story is true or not in the internet, but I still feel for you, because I read of similiar cases. I can understand that you are angry and disappointed. I hope things work out.
It has not cost me any money, as my credit card information has LONG since changed. But this certainly confirmed my feelings about this company and it's shallow way of doing things, both for game development and simple things like actually managing accounts.
I hope whoever got the account is banned and I hope they shut down the account as per my request. I've provided them with all the information that I have. It's not about the credit card (again, hasn't cost me a dime) but it's about my personal information that's in the account. Needless to say I'm not very impressed with NCSoft taking their sweet time in dealing with this. It seems they're more interested in letting this person go on with the account than protecting my identity.
So I would recommend going no where NEAR NCSoft, regardless of the games or deals being offered. I got off lucky, they only have my mailing address and phone number. I'm quite sure there are others out there that had their credit cards racked up and NCSoft has merely said "Proove it". Never mind the fact that once they can get into your account, the person can change your security questions, name, etc.
Again, STAY AWAY!
I hope that you are joking or very young and nknow nothing of buisness. If not then you are not very bright. This makes no sense because unlike a console game MMOs are a longevity buisness model. Meaning the more people they keep the more they make and usually the first 2 years after a launch the spend making money back that they fronted for the game. Banning accounts cost Ncsoft money because usually ther eare charge backs and such. Someone purchasing a copy of the game is a drop in the bucket. Ncsoft bans accounts to protect their investment in the game..you!
And to the person who said Ncsoft is farming their OWN game so you can buy gold from them. Well thats just plain dumb. Use some common sense. If they wanted to sell gold they would just do it. There is no need to destroy the gaming expercience to make 2 and 3 dollars a sale.
