EQ2 worth a re-sub?

 Hello everyone,

Just want to know if anyone can let me in on the current state of EQ2? I never played it much being as i was overseas when I tried it and no one was online during my play time.  Is there a population to speak of?  If so what server would be good to start on?  I loved everquest and am looking for something with the same kind of community.  Is eq2 really group oriented like eq1?  if so what would be a good class to play if i wanted the option to solo?

Thanks in advance for any information!

Also if eq2 is about dead nowdays, what game would you recommend that has good PvE and a nice community.  about as opposite of the wow community as you can think of.  ty again

about 2 weeks or so ago i picked eq2 back up, and have been having a good time with it since.

to answer your questions (sort of)  the community is helpful just like eq but there is not nearly as much of it as there was back then. Also the stuff you may remember from EQ like the MGB and people selling or giving away buffs does not exist in eq2.

Also it can be a very group oriented game, esp once you get to the end game level, but most of the time getting to lvl 80 you will be doing alot of solo stuff.

AB is going to be  your most populated non pvp server, not sure wich pvp server has the most players.   I myself am playing on runnyeye wich is a EU server mainly because my play time is mostly in the moring, so it works out best.

since you said your doing most of the stuff solo,  is it like eq1 where soloing was about impossible and a pain in the butt or is it more designed for solo play and questing?  I don't mind lvling solo sometimes but not when its so hard or slow i want to fall asleep playing it.

In EQ2 they now let everyone post in level 1-9 chat and it's a cesspool.

They used to restrict posting to level ranges but then there was no chat and the game appeared dead.

Now there is plenty of chat in level 1-9 and guess what, EQ2 people are as big a jerks as those people in other games.

I disagree at least on the PvP server. There are jerks of course, but compared to WoW there it is relatively wonderful. The game is immersive, deep and has so much to do it is almost overwhelming. And who would not like this view?

There alot of active guilds, get into one and choose solo or group mode, nice thing, is you have a choice.

Nafalgen, the PvP server has robust population and people at all levels, at all hours. Also the PvP servers, people are less likely to "rush to 80". With AA and the sheer load of content, the PvP play is robust from level 10 on, it does not pay to fly through to 80, becuae you will be gimp. Be aware though that PvP is essentially open world after level 10.

    Hi,

I presume you already have an EQ2 account then ? and that it has maybe been inactive for some time, if so then it is probably worth logging in and checking your account status. SOE seem to be reactivating old account till 31st December 2009.

Checked mine this morning to find it was active, this was after I'd cancelled way back when they introduced Station Cash. I'm using this as an opportunity to revisit the game and see if it is dead population wise, and also see what impact if any that an item store has had on the game.  Might be the ideal time for you to login and see things for yourself.

Did you get an email with the Three Week trail? I'm playing again and enjoying it. I'll be getting a new rig in January or February and I plan on playing again.
