I actually didn't expect DarkFall to require a powerfull computer but yeah I'm a bit suprised it does. Lucky I can run it with a FPS around 130 in wilderness, got to turn off Shadows though or else I drop at 50-60 FPS.
The only complains about an imature community that I've heard was the Alfar chats. (Alfars are enemies with everyone). Aside from that, there,s the occasional asshat on race/racial alliance chat but nothing game breaking.

The grinds a bore, the patch destroyed a newbs ability to explore Agnon and actually kill a mob or two rather than running as the arrows/spells come flying in at clipping range.
Personally, while the game has alot of potential ... if you're wanting to PvP , I would take a pass on Df for now untill they do something about the "New Player Experience".

Honestly anyone who isn't a bad player will not have a problem. I didn't find it hard at all. I started after the major patch so I have nothing to base it on prior to the patch, but it is pretty easy to kill mobs. In fact, the challenge in place is almost perfect to cause you to fear going too far into the wilderness. Honestly, its the perfect difficulty.

Btw there is a possibility to turn off chats. I did it for "Racial alliance", "Public" and "Race" chat. So i dont have to read the most bullshit From time to time there are some "retards" in trade chat but that isnt a great problem.
Yeah you got to grind in DF you cant prevent it. Thats fact. Any one who denys it is a hardcore fanboy But it isnt that much as you had to do earlyer. Yeah the life as a newb become harder after the patch, but grouping help extremly.

Darkfall absolutely dont need a high end pc.
On avarage pc you can play darkfall fine and plenty of ways in settings to let your medium pc run darkfall.
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009..... In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.
A few months ago, I would never have thought it possible... but I am having a blast in Darkfall right now.
I had a horrible experience at launch and quit about 2 days in, but this time I am having a great time. The game isn't perfect by any means, but it is different enough from the other titles out there to be thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something different.

I'm coming to the end of my first week post-purchase, and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. Far from a "horrid new player experience".
As for the grind, I'd almost agree if the combat weren't as engaging as it is and can be. Also, as far as I've heard (and read), skills increase far more quickly now than before.
All that said, my first few hours in the game were extremely discouraging. Once I got a good handle on combat, and started to figure out the basics, I really started to get into it, and now I'm just plain hooked. The game requires you (the player) to give it a chance.

I just started playing this game and it has gotten a lot better. So far the community has not bothered me and I am having quite a bit of fun.
I am running this game on a 4 year old laptop. And though I have to turn everything to minimum it does run decently...
