It is not that big of a deal, but there are some things I can't do because of it.

Can't do things... Like what? It's not like higher ranks give you access to different parts of the site or anything. And the reason why you're probably a low member right now is because the site bases the score on how many times you have come to the site or posted in the last 30 days.
