Campaign missions in Guild Wars are good and they had a decent story with cutscenes and all. I also liked the dungeons in DDO but I don't remember any story behind them. They were more like independent adventures. The DM voice was awesome!

I was enarmored with the cutscenes of Guild Wars. Only downside was if a player in my group didn't like it the cutscenes were rushed through.
Bioware may actually change the dynamic of player satisfaction in MMOs. Instead of players running through quests to get purple gear baubles, we may be experiencing a game to see what a cutscene outcome may be. Drama in the game could be almost a currency ...
WoW has some great ones too, but only in the 70-80 bracket using the new mechanics like phasing and vehicular controls. TBC had a couple of good ones, but pre-Outlands, they're pretty sucktastic.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift

Hey now, the quest to open the Gates of AQ was epic... and the Alliance quest to kill Blightcaller was amazing. You had to flag PvP and fight a horde guy, needed 25ish people, and you always had Horde players trying to kill your group.
FFXI gets my vote for best quests. The quests/missions are incredible!! They have great cutscenes and leave you wanting to do the next quest / mission so you can get more of the story. If FFXIV has a similar quest system I'll definatly check it out.
I do remember Vanguard having pretty good quests but there were performance issues, I played Aion for a month and found there quests to be pretty boring but i only played til lvl 17
There are 3 games that stand out in the quest category in my opinion. They are Everquest 2, Vanguard, and LoTRO. Although, I would have to say that Everquest 2 has some of the best quests I've ever come across in any MMO and I've played a lot of them.
all MMORPGs have horrible quests compared to Runescape. I used to play it but now I play Darkfall and other well known games. The quests are extremely interactive but I'm not sure if many ppl would play it because of the style and graphics
Runescape. I've played abosolutely TONS of MMOs, the difference between runescape quests and other MMOs is that they are almost a rarity (when i played anyways, they make lots of new quests now). In runescape you level by grinding, grind grind grind. The quests in runescape are brilliant, well known (after all theres only about what? 30 free player quests or so?) and most importantly are a sign of achievement.
I remember spending nearly a full day doing some of the quests, getting the skills required before hand to be able to start the quest. They would have you around the world, in jungles, i mean i DID cheat and use quest guides all the time, but thats what everyone does. Its not only that some quests are so hard to do that if you are a low level, its a sort of feat. Its also the rewards you recieve from some, you recieve unique AND VERY useful items. For instance, i did the Legends Quest, where upon completing this very hard quest i gained access to the legends guild aswell as the cloak of legends to wear and show, same with the crystal bow, etc etc.

Allow me to clarify a bit.
Runescape's quests are all unique. There are no real "Kill X" or "Collect Y" quests. Their quests are mysteries, puzzles, riddles, you name it. They can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 15 hours of gameplay.
There are not many quests, about 160 I think, but each have certain skill/crafting level requirements, so you can't just do quests. You need to work on your skills (i.e., grind) to complete all the quests.
If you choose to avoid using guides, the quests can be very, very challenging.
Now runescape quests were what i would consider epic, to this day most of my memories of the game are from the quests...that quest to get another spellbook, wow i was literally shaking while doing it! Most intense gaming moment i had.
Runescape did so many things really well, who remembers the pretty much solo raid dungeon fight caves? I would spend millions preparing for that place, hours inside continously fighting, one death and you're out. I remember getting to Jad (level 700 monster, i was like level 85) and having him on 50%, then forgeting to take a prayer potion.

And my quest for the 'Fire Cape' was over.
Haha i remember that ,i made it to the boss in the end and bam i choked...you seriously need to be jacked up on redbull and fully confident to be able to complete that quest. I tried many times and never got the cape =(

I always liked the quests in WoW, Aion is pretty good too. All you really need is a cohesive story to keep a quest line interesting.
Darzin -- A Gnome in a Night Elf World
World of warcraft - wrath of the lich king.
That expansion got the best quest i've ever seen in a mmo.
The name says it all...Everquest2... More quests than you can shake a stick at.
Probably the most quests in any game. Also awesome lore.

WoW, Spellborn and GW.
Lotro - for the "main quest" forgot what it is called but great story arch witch follow you from early on to late levels.
AoC some of the quests in Tortage that really make you feel like a dirtbag.
DDO - for the quests/dungdeonspuzzles. Made me feel like playing a good RPG and not a static MMO. (other reasons it did not feel like a mmo)

I like the stories in FE quite a lot. Also the public quests in WAR.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

If you want quest with good story. there is only Lord of the ring online. The rest of the games is just boring.
I have played most of them and I dont like stupied quest that many games have.

Everquest has the best quests.
Everquest II is not quite as good with the quests themselves, but has a better questing system.
And just for the record, Vex Thal access was my favorite quest of all time.
