Hi-Rez Studios is ready to set a date for the launch of their team-based shooter-MMO, Global Agenda! According to today's announcement the game is set for a February 1st, 2010 release date, and is now available for pre-purchase on Steam and the Amazon.com Marketplace.

Customers who pre-purchase the game will receive "beta access, in-game items, and other incentives."

Pre-Purchase details from the Global Agenda Steam listing:

  • Participate in the Global Agenda Beta – Players that pre-order will gain access to Global Agenda beta events in January. Note that the beta servers are available for play only during specific play test windows, and that tests may be limited to only certain game features. To participate in the Global Agenda beta, you must register your Product Key online at the Global Agenda website following your pre-purchase. Registered beta participants will receive specific test instructions prior to each Closed Beta test event, as the events are announced.
  • In-Game Items – Players that activate their Product Key on the Global Agenda website prior to February 1, 2010, will receive a special in-game helmet captured from the Commonwealth, as well as a flair item celebrating Global Agenda’s "No Elves" marketing campaign.
  • Reserve Your Player Name and Agency Name – Gain access to Global Agenda’s pre-launch “Name Reserve” event, in which players are given the opportunity to reserve their in-game name ahead of launch day (exact dates for the Name Reserve event to be announced). Players that also pre-subscribe to the "Global Agenda: Conquest" gameplay will be able to reserve an Agency name during the Name Reserve event.
  • Pre-Download the Game – Download the game early to ensure you are ready to play immediately at launch.

Hi-Rez Studios has also provided us with box art of the game, and a single new screenshot, the latter of which you can view in our Global Agenda gallery.

    That made me lol

Not only have other games had more "realism" (EVE, Fallen Earth) but I remember Fallen Earth using "no Elves blah blah blah" as a main selling point as well. And to be honest "Global Agenda" looks cartoony and kiddish.

    Joyous of Days!!!!!

I have been waiting on the release date for this jewel ever since I first heard about it last February. Not only does the game look fantastic and the pricing model is top-notch, but these developers really need support. Considering this is Hi-Rez's first major game to hit shelves, they will be contending with many of the big dog studios in both the MMO and Shooter genres. I'm sure this game will not fall short. I have had too many bad experiences with today's typical cookie-cutter MMOs (WAR, Aion, WoW, EQ2)

If you are at all interested in this game, show your love to them :)

Will Global Agenda rely on instancing or will it be more of an open world environment?

From a pure technical perspective, most of the player-vs-player combat inside Global Agenda will occur inside instanced battlegrounds with strike teams of around 10 vs 10 players. That said, the results of those battles have longer-term persistence in the world of Global Agenda, affecting your Agency's ability to control territory that helps produce output toward our Campaign end game. Players will be able to socialize and conduct economic activity in our city spaces.

Darn, I was hoping for bigger battles than 10v10, and less instancing, like what they have in Plannet Side 120v120.  I still plan to check this game out though, could be fun!

    I need a new MMOG
