Try the game before you Bye guild wars

NirawhoNirawho Member Posts: 26

Guild wars has great grapics and the best thing it has no montly fees, but this game isent for me, and i would reccomend all to try the game before you get it...

Well you all know the good points i think nice grapics pvp no fee bla bla

The stypid points in the game are when you leave city you wont see a single other player unleass your in a party with them, only in citys is it possible to sse other players and inviete em

The Terrain in the game is just to stupid its so 1 way to a point maybe 2, and you cant even jump off a little hill cause a inivisble wall will stop you ::::12::

The travel is just to esay if you been at a city you can teleport they at anytime unleass you have to find a new city you have to walk

The game just doesnt feel like a mmorpg cause you never meet players outside the city and the Terrain is really stupid, it feels must more like a single player game or something else also when you enters a city you can choose diffrent districst so you wont have so much lag if they is to many players in the city, but that just makes it even more like a singleplayer game to me ::::37::

Ohh one more thing, you cant either solo in this game, i couldent maybe my class sucked but thats dosent matter so much to me cause i like to party most no resaon to play a mmorpg and never join a party

EDIT: Lol sombody has change my Topic description its not bye its Try the game before you bye guild wars ::::37::... who did this anyway?? i was complety sure my topic was right

    fair enough.

i'd disagree about the solo play though, as long as you have monk as a secondary class you'll be fine, though I consider GW to be group-based questing and guild-based PvP.

The lack of people outside your party in the explorable areas adds to the atmosphere IMO. You know that its just you and the monsters, that there wont be anyone to save you if you die. I like the feature that lets you go to any place you've visited instantly, travel times can get really annoying for casual players and i feel its prety balanced (as you actually need to get to the places or complete missions first).

GW is my type of MMORPG, its a game that you can login to, form a party and go have some fun. Not travelling for 2 hours to get to a blob war that lags like anything....(eve-online f.ex)

(also, isnt the post title meant to read: 'try the game before you buy guild wars')

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...

sorry but i also have to disagree with u on a few points...

**all info is coming from myself who was in beta...im not making anything up***

1st of all the reason why when your out in the field and there is no one else there is to prevent camping and ks.Wich is really good.

2nd of all...i agree its not really a solo game..wich i like... they try to encourage teamwork on the field..forcing a better comunity to live in.

3rd...maybe you cant do raids...but it is cald guild wars after all...there are places ( arenas) for u and your guild to participate in guild battles..wich is really cool again forcing team work!!

i think mmo's are mostly made to be a place to leave the real world and still have place to go where there are nice people arround you
and i think guild wars has one of the best comunyties!! anyways enough of me debating...
for thoes who r interested just go play and have fun its a great game!::::20::

Guild Wars is a decent online game that is free. There is a reason it is free so you have to accept the good and bad of the game. I personally did not like the lack of variety on character creation. When I got to the main city I had about 20-30 clones of what I looked like. Granted I could change my size but when all chars look the same they get lost in the mix. Once again I must say a huge positive is No monthly fees.

As far as I now, they are planning on adding more variety in the chars.  The game isn't supposed to release until April.  They have plenty of time to get everything up and running.  If I was a developer, the last priority would be what the chars look like.  That is the graphics departments job, there is very little need to test skins, if one works they will all work if done using the same processes.  I'd rather have a solid beta tested game, and then add the skins in afterwards.  They still have at least 1 (most likely at least 2) beta events left to implement and tweak things.

Just to get it into your stupid heads guild wars is not a MMORPG it is more of a CORPG (Competetive Online Role Playing Game) thats why you dont see people in other places coz ur competing with a team.

well  massivly multiplayer means tons of ppl playing together...so technically it is an MMORPG...but ur mostly right the games not based on traditional MMORPG features.

I gotta admit, I miss being able to jump around. The terrain restrictions just shift the focus to tactics and using your skills at the right time.

I will be at my third Beta with Guild Wars. I have too say that for myself it has all the action i've been waiting for for a number of years. Our Guild formed with a bunch a guys From France & Belgium, recruited me while I as playing on the first Betra. We are using TeamSpeak to get our shit together while playing.
Howsome game, It will only get better.

It's very difficult to try the game before I buy it because I don't have an access key. I've missed a handful of beta events. i've entered the contest hosted by MMORPG so I hope I'm able to win a key and participate in the next beta event.

I agree with the one who entered the comp (i entered it too), its so hard to get a key in the u.k with out importing it,, and then its a rip off, the price is nearly twice as much as the u.s,(or u could get one sent by email,, but u dont any extras image DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH!!)

so if any one has a spare friend key i would be much appreciated,,image..

I agree with the original poster and some of the other posters.  I'll tell you why:

Yeah, I agree, it suck's not being able to just, explore.  Look around, adventure.  Jump off cliffs to get around faster, go to the top of a building to look at the scenery.

The graphics are beautiful, and yes no monthly fee is always an extrodinary plus.  But this is factored in because of the large amount of expansion sets (I smell another DaoC x 7).  They'll probably have like 2 expansions within the first year, and there's 150$ already.

I do like the new double "W" to instant walk, and the instant map teleport, as it does help casual players get around, but I hate how you can be in combat and teleport, that's just..cheap.

The GUI is incredibly hard to learn, I had trouble in the first BW i was in, but I soon got the hang of it.

I agree, character creation lacks variety.  One thing good about CoH is the character variety.  Over a million combinations.  Now if GW could implement (or any MMORPG for that matter) could have as much variety as CoH, they'd be golden.

Yes, it's a COMPG but it is also classified as a MMORPG.  I do hate that you can't see anyone outside, and that you almost feel alone unless with a group.  However, this does factor out KSing, and does factor out camping and zerging etc.  BUT, it doesn't feel the same.  I feel they should have certain area's where you are by yourself/with only your group.

I don't like the items in the game.  There's too little bit.  There needs to be much more things done to GW which is why I don't think it'll be released until June or July.  Sorry you anxious pre-order testers!

Other than that, GW is an alright game.  I'd give it a 7/10.  It's just incomplete as of now.  image

they should make some kind of compromise that makes it so many ppl can be outside at the same time, yet no one can KS.you can only get exp for a monster if u were the first one to provoke it,that way its pointless to go around killing other pplz targets..i realize this idea has flaws.its just an example
