WTB lost MMO friend finder....

Looking over the other toppic here in "the pub" about the 3 best times in a MMORPG, well it reminded me of all the old friends I had in FFXI, and even though i've recently gone back to the game in search of my old linkshell, it apears they have broken up. and don't even play FFXI anymore.
But with FFXIV coming out, it'd be awsome to reconnect with them again. See who's been up to what. One couple in my LS had 2 kids, he was in the military over in iraq, and she was a stay at home mom. shoot that was 5 years ago, things have probably changed. And then there is my other buddy, who I actually met over XboxLIVE, we play'd halo 2 togeather, and FFXI havn't seen him online in a while.
But its old friends like that, and I know we havn't ever met. but we have spent hundreds of hours chatting. I dunno, its somthing that I dont' get from any of these newer games. I mean even with my RL friends who play WoW its like they get on...and are only intrested in gettin that new purple item. or getting there sweet mount, no one plays for fun anymore.
Anyways just the rambalings of sick person on way to much medication right now :S

I know what you mean. You get so many friends that you've known ingame for years and eventually the game sucks. It's hard to leave. You really don't ever see them again. New games will never have the same friends. :P
heh, the sad part is. I still loved FFXI when I quite, but I needed to finish high school. And that wasn't going to happen while I was playing.
So I told my self that I would come back, and I did.....but no one was there. (And to make it worse wings of a godess had come out and half of the servers where "in the past" so there was no one to play with)

Yeah the game is nothing like what it used to be. Still makes you fail classes though.
I hear ya Dewm, no one plays for fun anymore. It's like everyone forgot how to have fun or they're allergic to it now.
I wish I were still playing with my [horehouse](yes) mates, they defined fun for me from the start and I always kept that in my mind.
But now we get millions of threads with the Group Vs. Solo argument or the "nothing to do" business with everyone trying to find the answer, when it's sitting right in front of their faces. No one is playing to just have fun because fun defined these days is getting to endgame fast or having that extra +1 of STR.
Too many pro's and not enough hippies!
