Robin Hood

TealaTeala Member RarePosts: 7,627

From the director of Gladiator comes a new re-invisioned version of the famous English hero Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.   Will this be a more darker, grittier version and try to be somewhat historically accurate or will it just be a remake of the old Kevin Coster movie?   Time will tell.

Love this image.   I love Russell Crowe...want to have his babies.    :)

People seem to get something out of knocking this movie either because of Crowe, Scott, the fact that it is another Robin Hood retelling, or because they love to proclaim how superior they are by stating that the Errol Flynn Robin Hood was the only one they liked. Personally I welcome any serious Medieval, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, or any other type of Period Action Movie when theaters these days are clogged with crap like Transformers 2 or GI-Joe. On top of this, I enjoy a good Robin Hood retelling, I thought Gladiator was a great movie, and I think the movie looks extremely appealing from the trailer.

I too welcome this movie simply because I'm tired of Transformers, Terminator, and the like.  I want more movies like Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven... even Pathfinder was decent.  If this does turn out to be a darker retelling of Robin Hood then all the better.  And I have nothing against Crowe.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

believe it will also debut in theatres along with James Cameron’s Avatar. I know a lot of people are looking forward to this as it reteams Ridley Scott with Russell Crowe in an action movie setting reminiscent of Gladiator. The trailer certainly plays up the action angle above all else, featuring plenty of gritty, slow-mo battle sequences set to a little bit of rock music. Zack Snyder would be proud.

I guess it does the job as far as proving that this is a new take on the character we haven’t necessarily seen before. It’s hard to say much else at this point, but I’m definitely on board with the adaptation thus far. The movie also co-stars Mark Strong, Matthew Macfadyen, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, William Hurt, and Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian. What do you think? Robin Hood hits theatres on May 14th; check out the trailer after the jump.

Check this out.  Mel Gibson is set to make a new drama about Vikings!  I've always wanted to see good Viking movie.  There are few old ones, but they seem a bit dated.  I hope this one delivers.

The only thing that threw me for a loop is that the movie will star Leonardo Dicaprio (?)  Doesn't exactly strike me as the blood thristy Viking type.  Maybe special effects will be able to muscle him up a little.
