Yup, I'll be logging on to my 60 minstrel and checking things out. I had really bad luck getting the top end gear and quit after one too many failures (only ended up with one piece). Hopefully there's some new higher level gear that competes with that gear, or maybe I'll have better luck doing the dungeons at a higher level, in which case I'll probably re-sub.
I would recommend any returning player that has not played a bit to roll an alt, only because it may gave you a bit of time to ramp back into how the game plays, and also so you can check out all the low level changes and improvements they have done.

Another piece of advice is to log in today to allow your system to get all the updates so you're not wasting time tomorrow. Took about 2 hours on my system and I last played back in May. Updates go in prior to you logging on so no problem with your account being closed.
My son and I are looking forward to a week of skirmishing.

My account is active but i still got the email saying my account was going to be reactivated for that period. Weird?
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.
eh probably just a umbrella email i got it too waiting til friday when i get paid to resub was going to after i left aion but havent had the cash and if my acct would ever activate or whatever they got to do then id play but only thing i can think to do is hit refrsh every so often on the launcher til then dont know if i cant get in today then i might think twice
anyone else had thier acct reactivate or whatever it is they are doing for this im still waiting and nothin

Is there an alternate site one can download (d/l) the 6.7GB standard res client in highspeed?
Because that *raptastic "pando" spyware-torent d/l mgr will take over 20 hours to d/l at 40 to 100 KBps (less than a tenth of my avail d/l speed)
A few months ago i tried to d/l the high res client and it destroyed my M$ .NET Framework functionality (making it impossible to play any other game.) I had to do a reinstall of the Wxp pro OS because their customer support was useless, all they could come up with was try and reinstall the various Framework programs.
Apparently since my gpu is DX9, the DX10 highres client hosed my OS.

I just started mine and it's working at 3:44 on Thursday. It didn't reactivate the first time. I read that sometimes you have to wait up to a couple hours for it to work. Tried again in 10 minutes and viola I'm in.
I was going to try and create a Warden but it says I need the expansion, currently I am using the streaming install edition as the full res finishes downloading.
I was curious, is all the expansions included in the welcome back, or am I going to miss out on this content?
The welcome back simply allows you to play anything your account has access too. If you never purchased MoM, then you cant play its content.
However you can see all the low level revamps, combat and crafting changes, as well as i think three skirmishes a day.
Hope that helps. It is just reactivating your account for a while.

Thanks. Being that all my characters were low level to begin with, I decided to just start a trial to experience it all. The DVD is $9 and the newest expansion is $20. Same price they charge on Turbine's store. Might as well get 30 days out of it.
WTF? I went back to try it today.. DEC. 18th.. no problem.. played a few hours here and there and left the house to go shopping.. I come back.. do the new skirmish thing.. NICE.. I take a mini break and come back an hour later..
free trial = EXPIRED/
again.. WTF? I'ts only the 18th and I haven't even had a day to try it again..
Free trial is not the welcome back. Perhaps you are confused?

As for the EU welcome back, it's Dec. 23 to 30.
Free trial is not the welcome back. Perhaps you are confused?
Same thing just happened to me. It says "free trial" as my account because that's what I started with. I have a 60 on it so it's definately not just a free trial account.
Pretty weird. Guess I shouldn't have logged out...
edit: NVM, just tried again and now it works. It seems this welcome back thing is a bit wonky, so if it comes up as expired, you probably should just try a couple more times in a little bit.
ya you login it say your account is expired theres a button to restart or wtv its called when you get to view that you didnt pay
ignore that just reload the page and lotr detect this and it unlock the game
i bet when word gets out lot of people will play this this week end
Yeah, Ive been playing the free weekend, since I was a former subscriber. And its awesome, cant believe I stopped playing it. I will make sure I resubscribe after, cant wait to try those skirmishes out!

ill pass. alright game, but not enough to group with when i was there, i was lvl 38 hunter on melendor. the game just doesnt do it for me anymore, to even bother spending money on the 2 latest expansions. but more so than anything tired of recieving constant emails that i hav e been reactivated for free time, seems a bit desperate to get players back. but oh well not stressing it to much.

well its been 2 days and still just says expired even uninstalled and reinstalled nothing guess they didnt want me back in idk lol
well i sent in at but if it takes 1-2 weeks to respond then i probably shouldnt have but oh well its there now lol
