Baseball mmorpg begins beta testing

There's a new one that just opened called brushbackbaseball.com It seems to be pretty solid. Like most MMOs it doesn't require money, but you can you make your player or team a little better if your willing. I like how it looks, and it could be nice to be one of the first users.

Does anyone know where people more into sports games hang out?

I don't even imagine there is a place where "sports MMO" players hang out but could be mistaken. Do you reckon a baseball MMO will be popular at all?

I hope so because it the kind of game I like the most.   I get to manage individual players or a team, which is my strange sort of fun.  I hope enough others do too, or it won't last and I'll have to resort back to the commercial games.

    That's not what you're into?

hehe, not much baseball floating around Ireland and to be honest anytime I have taken the time to watch it has seemed a little boring to me but maybe it doesn't translate well through to tv. Saying that I think ice hockey is awesome to watch:)

    this.

And you're not wrong, pauldriver.  Baseball, while being a sport I really, really like, can tend to be boring to the average non-fan.  I can't imagine what people in a country where it's not established significantly already think about it.

Every game has it's own forums, that is where you would want to hang out i guess.

As far as sports games go,there is only so much you can do and it revolves around spending money.I have tried these games, baseball as a matter of fact, and once you get into players that spend money it is ridiculous, your badly out matched. You may be able to earn points that can be redeemed but it takes forever doing it that way, others will have unbeatable teams instantly.

There is one good aspect to the baseball game ,you could possibly arrange a group of people to agree to not use any upgrades, and make your own little league out of it,that is the only way it would be fun and not costly.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

pauldriver, I can see your point of view.  I've seen a quote something like "baseball is 15 minutes of action packed into a 2 1/2 hour game."  ha ha haaa

But a person familiar with it can get into each individual pitcher-batter confrontation.

I got to spend 3 days in Dublin for a conference about 3 years ago, when it was still booming.  I hope to see the countryside some time.

    Wizardry,

Oh man, I hope this brushbackbaseball.com will be different than what you experienced.  It wouldn't be fun if players built with free upgrades were not competitive.

In major league baseball, they have some super stars, but most of the players aren't.  Would it be inaccurate to think of the people who spend a lot in one of these online games as the super stars and the rest of us nonspenders as the ordinary players needed to fill the rosters?  I mean, a super star (say Longoria on the Phillies) has a bigger impact on his team's games than the other individual players, but the rest of the team is still important.

They do allow buying points and earning points from referrals.  I'm new to the online kind of game and forgot to post my referral link.  ha ha  what a rookie I am!  (I used to play this way against the computer before internet days (should I admit that?), but that game was discontinued.  Course I had to buy that game to start with.

I appreciate your comment.  Now that you got me thinking, I might be willing to spend a few dollars (like buying a software title) if I like the game.   But I admit that I hadn't expected to do so yesterday.

At least hockey is interesting. CANADIANS FIGHTING! (lol) I don't really think that a baseball MMO (or any sport to be honest) would do very good. Sports are only fun if you're playing in real life. WELL except football, that's fun to watch.

Countryside is pretty much where I reside (we call it a city but a population of about 55k must seem like pittance to ya). Though for me now green fields just seems to equal cows blocking the fucking road, crazy assed farmers and a lingering smell of poop from all the...er, poop they spread on the fields.

If you do get a chance though check out Bunratty castle. I believe they still hold a lords and maidens type feast there where you dress up and drink mead, eat spit animals etc. All the good manly stuff:)

It isnt an MMO, but check out Out of the Park Baseball It's an excellent game, but there is a pretty large community of simmers out there playing with real teams, ficticious teams, if you can think it, odds are, it exists. (Go figure, best baseball management game on the market, and it's designed and coded by a German guy!)
