Whatever you people are smoking, please give me some. Planetside was best in beta and in the first 2 months of release, but it has gotten progressively worse since then. Can somebody please tell me what's so great about this game?
Sure, it's fun for a month or two, but after that - you realize that it's just a constant zerg with no sense of incentive or meaning.
If you guys want a good MMOFPS, without a mass zerg and actual incentives, then come play WWIIOL. www.wwiionline.com

Well I have been playing for two years.
And the game is fun.
And you totally discredited your post by saying WWII Online is even a respectable game. That game blows.
No other game compares to Planetside and it is the first and only good MMOFPS. Period.
Go get a clue.
Agreed... However I do not like the pop locks.. I mean so what it one side has an advantage, how else is someone supposed to win?! ;p

I'm pretty sure that discredits your post, considering WWIIOL was made 2 years before Planetside. And WWIIOL is just one big map and not broken up into multiple sectors. I mean jeez, atleast WWIIOL doesn't reset the map every morning.

planetside is a fun game. Its great just to hop in and battle it out with 50+ people in a base. Its a good team game, get together with a friend or two in the same room and play, very fun.
its a quick game that doesn't involve setup or commitment. just log on and fight. log off when you want.

Planetside it the first in an experiment of combining MMO & 1st person shooter. Some people play the game simply because it was their first MMO, kind of like some people play WoW or EQ or EQ2. Though although this game is sadly owned by SOE the concept was not completely flawed. They have made some changes that help, though unfortunately the game has gotten further laggier and the BFRs screwd the game badly. With the release of merits there is something to work for. Other than BFRs the worse part of the game is the way the TR were gimped down to almost nothing. But alas I will still fight with a chaingun which requires some skill and aiming. Anyways if enough people can be working together on that game it can be quite fun, though I expect that other games will come out that eventually takes its place or a second Planetside will come out.

um Planetside was not the first mmo 1st person shooter. World War 2 online beats it by years actually...
But aside from that, Planetside is fun, in doses. I played in beta and still play. Its not bad, but it is a game that appeals to specific people. There are problems with it. But if you get a good outfit with friends its pretty fun. If your playing solo then it does suck.
actaully planetside is the 1st MMOFPS, the other FPS games dont compare to Planetside in the fighting scale there all limited

Hey...I must say that Planetside offers more in teamplay on a small and large scale than any game i've seen (i'm sure i'll be corrected here) the command an control on a gaming level is great...it's not all about FPS!
I'm crap at FPS's but as a medic, driver (tank, transport, lib, lodestar, reaver etc), combat engineer, squad/platoon leader and hacker I can add something more then shooting the enemy...!
I've had so many great hours in many great teams and some really shocking ones...but we all have to move on and i'd give it three months superb gameplay then it starts to get a little stale..but I keep coming back after i've given something else a go...!
But it will remain in my top five for a little while yet.
Surely we've all got 4 or 5 games on the go at once...haven't we!

World War 2 Online?!???
Get real, grampa.
First off, the whole "historical" thing is just lame. Few people got into TSR games for a reason, they kept pumping out "historically accurate" strategy games about famous battles between armies with muskets and swords.
The World War 2 thing has been done to death, glorifying a war between imperial hegemonies as some kind of moral crusade.
The war wasn't fought over principles, it was fought over global domination and control of the Earth's resources. The Holocaust was a sideshow, Hitler's pet project to exterminate Jews from Europe, when the animosity between Germans, French and Brits was really about language, and who gets to control the civilized world (Europe.)
I prefer futuristic battles with top end gear, big guns, lasers, rockets, mortars, without all the moral BS that netions shove down their citizens' throats through CNN.
TR, NC and VS are fighting for control. The plain truth of planet earth told through a video game, how refreshing.

I feel sad for one if their idea for a good MMO is one that keeps you on the computer for 15 hours a day.
Um, excuse me, but WWIIO is also a zerg based game. He with the most tanks/swarming sappers usually wins the town.

I played in beta uptil corecombat :P the game was ruined and that reflects on how its dying :P
Was speaking to an ex dev (smokejumper) he told me that he left cus it was ruined by soe's greed
PS had some bumps, but its still great. Best out there in the market. ZERG, PFFT, what zerg? I must admit, BFRs did eliminate zerg, no more huge armies of running infantry from base to base, although they made vehicles a bit underpowered, but thats besides the point.
PS has a lot of tactis and strategies, if you think its a mindless FPS then play more then several days. And it is solo friendly too, I like to grab my vehicle and run around shooting random stuff. Or, when i feel like it, I join my outfit squad and do some great gen drops or backhacks...

I did like the game . . but the community was not to my liking . . planetside was my first MMO . . and later I see that same community I disliked there is in every game . . just different names.
also I grown to dislike anything that sony Online does . . I was displeased with Customer support from Sony Online. . so even if Sony came with a game to my liking or perfect for me . . I would not play it as long as it has any thing to do with Sony Online
