Definitely go with the Shadow Odyssey.  It includes ALL expansions up to this point (including RoK), while Rise of Kunark is missing the Shadow Odyssey.  Honestly, I don't know why they are selling both for the same price.

Can I buy this on steam with my standard EQ2 account? And just log on to the Soe Launcher as normal and play ? Erm ok lets try again:

I have a regular EQ2 account which i log in to via the SOE launcher.

I also have a steam account where i play all my other games.

Now. Can i buy this on steam, and somehow "hook it" to my SOE account?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.  Actually, that's pretty much what I did...  When you purchase the game, click on "Install".  When it's installing you can click on "Manage Account", and that should lead you to a web page with the key code for the game.  Copy it and enter it like you normally would in your account under "Redeem Code" or whatever they call it.  That's what I did and it seemed to work for me.

Have to say that seeing the game going so cheaply, in a way im surprised its not being sold for even less! but it is indicative of the problems the game is having with player numbers, not that its the only SOE title with that particular problem, im wondering if perhaps there will be a SOE games bundle with their whole game catalogue for under $10 before too long. How long can SOE keep it up i wonder, with so many new games coming out in the next few months, not a good time for them i guess.

Just be aware that the next expansion, Sentinel's Fate, is coming up in February, and SOE tends to want 30-40 bucks for their latest expansions. The current players will likely go off and do that, so Norrath will get a bit lonely in February unless you pony up too.

That being said, there's still a lot to do in Norrath. If you play on the Guk server, look up Bellum Aeternus and see if they're still playing. They're a really good, nice-people guild.

I miss playing EQ2 it is a great game, but this is exactly why i am not playing it to this day.I had little time to play more than one MMO ,so i decided on FFXI,even though it was a tough choice EQ2 is still great. When i got tired of rmt and fish botters i went back to EQ2 with this exact same kind of offer. The problem there was a catch,in that i could not subscribe or do anything until my free month was up.The catch was i would lose all the expansion packs i did not already have if i did not subscribe to the game before free month was up.

Of course i tried from the second day on again and again,it would never let me subscribe,so finally i get to subscribe again on the last day only it says my expansions have expired LMAO,are you kidding me?I just let it go and never went back again that was like 2 years ago.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

OMG!NO WAY!  nice!this game looks awsome one word of advice tho for graphic seeting use your graphic card instead and replace all setting  and dont use aa and af

its one of the only game that wasnt optimized for it oh it will work but it wont look better and game will lag.

this game is so awsome when graphic are properlly tweaked(by player)

its just a shame almost nobody will ever buy it since it online only and almost nobody buy online(too many scam)

Er what? And thats why Steam counts for a huge % of the overall pc gaming market nowerdays...

Anyway more to the point. Worth playing guys? Tried it a couple of times over the past few years but never got into it. My main gripe is the lack of variety in armour, it all looks so similar, there doesnt seem to be many actual different sets at all. Does this change later on? Many people still playing?

not really more then all mmo(aside from wow)game maker know its buying game season till about the 4 of january

if any game maker want to rake in monthly they got to do game sale like all mmo.only blizzard is lucky anough to no bother with special etc (compared to the cometition i mean)

after wow and aion competition get firece in a hurry and nobody want to be left out .and that include eq2.

the problem with eq2 most dont know how to set their computer for it ,adnd most guide to do it are so dated they are mostly irelevent now a days with vista and window 7.

Heck yea, I scored on this deal too, you can't beat a deal like this! All expansion with the current one for $5?? I bought it and made a fresh account just for the free 30 days. I hadn't played the game in a  year or so, but when I checked my old account I had 7 free days on it, which worked out perfect as I was able to transfer my plat and nice bags and stuff to my fresh account ;)

This is by far the best deal going right now, hell that is about the cost of pack of smokes or 3/4s of a six pack of beer...

    thanks for the heads up!

I went for the SO deal, and upgrading from an old trial account I had a cr@pload of bonus items, potions and stuff. +25% run speed cloak for every new character? An extra backpack? Yes please! Although my "Altisis" has gotten really bad. I've played Defiler, Fury and Berserker to level 10 and can't for the life of me decide on which class to play. I guess I'll roll some kind of mage and  see how *that* goes.
