Well i know maybe alot of trolls will jump right now but lets get this clear folks the succes of w0w is that it copied alot of stuff put it togheter and sold it like a brand new stuff with a big name on it lets say like creating a Princess of pop uopss sorrry of MMO so all guys run and join and after years of gaming they have the need to defend thir investment but i think in most of the big stuff this game copy an dpaste alot and got it alittle bigger thast all only chek other RPS on consoles Chek other games before it released nothing much new as far as a really neutral player can find.
I'm sure that I'm just echoing what others must've said by now (not going through 8 pages of garbage), but uhm...
1) Several WoW devs were confirmed EQ players.
2) WoW is based on the concept behind EQ but with some new features (zone-less world), its own distinctive lore and artstyle aswell as it being more player friendly (ie. softcore) in order to appeal to a wider audience.
However, this would be no more plagiarism than say, COD:MW would be of CS. The game has since launch recieved ample time to develop and grow its own character and offers a vastly different experience from EQ.
I have recently engaged in comparing both Wow(Blizzard) and Eq2 since i saw the thread "Wow copying eq2 yet again" i have bought eq2 and a hell load of wow game cards for this (of which i finished in the past year XD) i found world of warcraft lacking unique attributes and i seriously found out that impossible Everquest2 would be the copier it was one of the first ever graphical MMORPG released in 1999 y dont you reply with your opinion and new info will be updated visit daily for more'o'dis
Does it really matter? Well, it might, just not to me it doesnt. I really just quit WoW anyway.. Not because it was addicting, but it was only kind of fun. Seriously, after level 30 (I was barely 71) you're just focusing on the little goodies the game has, and not anything great about the game. Getting that new mount, Haircuts, companions... it's lame. I'd rather a game that sticks to a story line, so you feel like you're actually getting something done when you play (as pitiful as it may sound). Though, the game does have freedom to it like Morrowind, it makes it kind of lonely and confusing to me. Maybe cuz I sucked at it? Haha.
I thought it was obvious that Wow essentially copied all the mmos that came before it... its not anything strange either, anyone that makes mmos pretty much does that...
