Seems the SV team released the patch ONE day before they were taking a 2 week vacation. The servers will not get fixed until sometime in January. SV really screwed up on this one... seems they have no strategy at all, just throw stuff together and hope it works and leave the next day... They are suppose to release next month, so they will have less than a month to fix all bugs, get a better patcher system, release a NA server and get a real installer... Won't happen...
Anyone else worried? Discuss...

Eeeh this game wont be ready in a month I give it 6months to a year before its totally playable darkfall all over again
Such things happen during alpha testing, nothing to worry about. The game will not release next month, it is three months away from going into a real beta testing period. Bugs aside, the major problem with the state of the alpha is the lack of things to do.
Rise above hate.
Ignore fan boys.
Utter disaster predicted as with Darkfall. Will probably have a shit launch but turn out pretty decent. I'm suprised anyone is expecting anything different from an indy developer.
Jam is sticky.
I can't fault them for wanting to take a vacation -- I mean, it's Christmastime.
That said, it is an exercise in poor planning. I had said months and months ago, that the way they are distributing the patches simply won't scale, and won't work on a long term basis. Thus far, they've had their users download an entire client every time there's an update. When you get a new patch pushed out, you can't use the patcher because it's god-awful slow. Not to mention, they are making the brilliant move of having the patcher download individual files rather than an 'update package' which would compress all the files into a single download.
I don't see them making any changes. They said they updated the patcher some time ago, or added bandwith or whatever, seems to not have worked. The changes they listed aren't exactly awe inspiring either, I think some nice bumps in there for crafting, but not a whole lot for PvP.
All in all, we'll see how it plays out. I think the main problem is that the bulk of the work is given to Sebastian, who is in turn expected to make diamonds out coal. It's not an issue of resources -- it's an issue of scale and itemization. I would have thought that a PvP game would focus solely on the components that would make it a PvP success, putting aside the elements like thievery, crafting, housing, etc.. that are 'fluff' items. Do you think anybody's going to care about those other items if the core of the game isn't much fun? Look at EVE -- it launched with exceptional PvP and not much else, but people knew that the PvP was so good, it was worth sticking with. Now it's got 300k subscribers. They started out with a small team, simple tasks, and just made their core game great, despite the graphics and UI. If Star Vault were smart, they would have gone the same route.
I think however, it's far too late to make that change now.
damn that would suck specially since people will be on break and not able to play. would worry me a bit tho since so close to launch.
off topic tho prow did you ever play "Cartoon Wars" for ipod touch/iphone? they're taken directly from those lil cartoons in your sig, hell the 3rd one with sasuke, the robot and stuff has those exact moves in it. the ninja army guy you can get used the big held throwing star and even does the fire style jutsu. its like the "Black and white stick figures vs colored in cartoons very adictive..lol kinda like a mini RTS
Correct me if i am wrong because i have been in a thousand games and i can easily mix them up but.....
Is this not the game that was funded by what they call an Angel scheme?Basically totally funded the developer really takes little risk, this could be the big problem with the game.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
SV should have taken there vaction and then put out the patch when thay get back.

An open beta is an expensive proposition. They still need that cash in order to have an open beta. I don't think they can delay it much longer, but the longer they delay -- the better it will wind up being.
The inherent problem is that the existing bugs don't seem to be addressed wholly in the changelog. Instead, they released a brand new AI system that is totally re-written (their words, not mine), so in essence, they are introducing MORE potential bugs. This is kind of the point I have made over, and over -- that beta should be feature complete. The inherent problem is that people think that just because SV is independent that this definition doesn't apply to them, and they are simply proving me right, on a continual basis. New system of thievery (just created), implemented, buggy as heck and then they have to go and fix the bugs. How about scrapping it for launch? Work on the outstanding issues first, then implement new ones.
I mean, if they are happy with their core PvP gameplay (and I have said I'm not, but I won't argue this point right now), then their focus should be to make that PvP experience smooth, effortless, and fun. Right now all they are doing it continuing to build NEW features, while the old ones remain problematic and buggy, and the game as a whole isn't really fun. Again -- management, management, management -- the thing that SV seems to lack in spades. I think they have a reasonable amount of talent on the team, they just don't have any experienced folks to guide them to the finishline.

Judging by their financials, one of the major investors was Henrik's dad.
So I suppose if some of our parents signed on and let us start working on the MMO of our dreams, there may possibly be problems with the game that we create too. Granted though, some people playing MO actually have some professional experience that could be relevant. But hey, Henrik used to send spam email out for poker sites.. so obviously the stuff of an MMO developer.
An absolute disaster indeed. They obviously don't know what they're doing, this is a clear indication of such, anyone that says "oh but this is a beta!" is totally out of their mind, they're not going to magically get programming experience in a month this has pretty much set the tone for this 'game' now.
Yes the patch was a disaster, but you play Aion so your opinion does not count for anything.
Playing Darkfall EU1 Server
Your such a noob and a troll. Its nice that you 'forgot' to put in the link where they are taking a 2 week vacation. I'm a full loot bag holder, and i've been in since Block A. The game makes leaps and bounds.

A 2 week vacation after releasing a massive patch leaving the game down for 2 weeks - sounds pretty retarded to me. They've given themselves an extra month just to iron out the bugs with this patch!
Gona post it here so its in black and white and I can link it to all the fanbois.
This game will not be ready and in good shape for release in a month.
For the record i want this game to do well!! But they need another 3 to 4 months to get it right.

It's not just a pvp game. It's a sandbox with pvp. Big difference.
I don' t understand the problem here, would you have rather not had the patch and waited 2 more weeks for it to be released?
I think that is the problem here. This is really hurting their reputation. At least with no patch some people would be able to play if they liked, instead all that is left is room to bitch and moan.
I don't have the patch downloaded yet even, so i don't really care, but this is pretty stupid on SV's part.

at least they will have plenty of logs to work with
Release next month? Who t he hell told you that? Don't tell me you're pulling that date off of this website. I've never seen SV actually name a date, though I suppose I could have missed it.
Besides that they've been working constantly every month....you're really going to fault them for taking a break.....around the holidays. Do YOU work 24/7 all year 'round? No? Then shut the hell up.
The last I heard from SV is that they -hope- to release in Q1 of 2010....that's a three month period last I checked. Another month or two pushed-back isn't a big deal. It's not like they've given us a half dozen release dates and really hyped the game for release around those dates then the day before that date pushed it back....unlike some games.
Do you really think they're just going to ignore their servers when their new patch has crashed them? Why don't you go ahead and wait until they actually do that until you start bitching? mmkay?
To keep it short, we went on a two week vacation to rest up and work like madmen again after new year. It's bad timing and we know it perfectly well.
I'll try to reboot the server when I can, at least once a day, but I have personal things going on during the vacation so I can't promise anything.
Merry Christmas
LOL - Posted by Denny Lindberg on the MO forums. What company they are, hahaha.

The last newsletter only a couple of weeks ago stated they were delaying the release by 1 month, the original release plan was to release at the end of the year - this month.

Actually they were originally supposed to launch in the summer of this year, that got bumped up to September I believe (this one may be false as I can not remember if sept was stated or not, I believe it was but could be false), then they were supposed to launch this month. So this will be the 3rd or 4th time it's been bumped back.
A comedy of errors, which comes as no surprise. Come on SV, get your act together.
its BETA!!! and really darkfall was this fail at launch.. last i checked this isnt launch. and what people arent aloud to take a break for a holiday? this was a big patch.. and BETA is to TEST if it works or not.. not to play the game and be all happy playing a perfectly polished game. hell even big games have huge problems with big patchs. i dont see why your crying about it not being perfect in BETA. and dont think i ever saw anywhere where it said "we are releasing it this month for sure" it was their goal... but just because its a goal doesnt mean its always reachable...
Darkfall was far more playable in beta than Mortal Online is. And it was sadly, more fun. Maybe not as pretty and god the sound effects were terrible, but the game was more complete and more fun.
And it still sucked
