Mmh, from what I have read, it seems there are not so manny people spending on cash shops then, I thought there were A LOT more people on these forums doing it
Maybe not on these forums or people willing to talk about it - I know I've heard about people spending a ton of money in F2P games, and that wouldn't be something I would want to admit to lol. There are tons of people who buy currency in games, but how many would admit to it in a gaming forum?

I did once in RoM. Think I spent like $5 to get enough diamonds so I could purchase a permanent mount rather than have to deal with renting one all the time.
I'm not against spending cash in a f2p game though. I just haven't found one that I would be willing to do so on a regular basis. I might in Allods although if they're actually going to charge to even be able to use zone chat than I doubt I'll play the game. I totally understand companies needing to make money but charging for something like that is simply ridiculous far as I'm concerned. Same reason I quit Requiem soon as I found out they did that crap.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
I have said that I wouldn't spend money in a cash shop. But then I discovered my wife has been doing it so I don't know....if there was something good like amazing looking armor I might consider it.

RMT, whether through a F2P cashshop or player to player is a huge industry. Given the numbers there's likely more people spending money on mmo stuff than not. This forum just has a very entrenched anti-rmt majority (actually more of a vocal minority), and is not a good representation of the mmo market. The way some people talk you'd think buying gold in wow is akin to selling one's offspring to slavery.

Oh, they're out there. Some of them spend a hell of a lot more than they would ever spend if they were playing a p2p game.
I remember one bragging about spending upwards of $4,000 in a year on 2 Moons. Why in god's name you would for a game like that is beyond me, but it was his money and his opinion that it was worth the expenditure to enjoy the game as he saw fit so all the more to him and others of his like.

I've spent a small amount. If the game requires you do spend more than 15-20 a month to compete in a f2p it's better to move on imo. PWI probably has the most addicted cash shoppers in any game I've played. People spend hundreds and thousands a month to be the greatest item based pvpers on the server and its common. There was a guy rumored to had spent 35k on PWI harshlands server. He owns almost all the items in game and max enchants on all his uber glow gear that you can see from this forum if you look hard.
If I'm into the game I've been known to drop $100-200 every month on cash shop. But, that is only if i like the game a LOT lol. Hell some one has to support the game, and the cheapo's here obviously will not do it.
Free to play is kind of a misnomer, they are technically micro-transaction based.
See, if I were to be a F2P dev. I'd love stupid people.
Sadly, I have. The rigged items in cashshop were too good to ignore. And not to mension how your avatar could look totally different form everyone else. Most of the time I don't but if I really like the game I do.

Well, if I would find a F2P mmo I really like, and I want to get further in it I would also consider it to buy some from the cash shop. But at this moment I still haven't played a F2P that's keeps me playing :-) , Or yes I once found such a game, it called runescape. A few friends of me had a member account and I was also considering to get one myself, but I never did cause I discovered wow and the P2P mmo's

My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.

Whatever the text was:
Yes, in Atlantica. Because I favourize different gameplay and innovative ideas.
Something you won´t see in most P2P-games.
And no, I do not start a second account in EVE.
