Howdy, playing abit of EQ2, and loving it. Problem is I can't decide on a class.
I was thinking Bruiser, but have heard that they are the least desirable tank, is this true?
Was also thinking Shadow Knight, Brigand and Berserker for various reasons. Which class would I have the easiest time with, as far as getting groups goes?

More information please. Is grouping all that you're concerned with? While people DO group, it isn't THAT common. You will spend probably 50% of your time soloing.
As Moirae said you will spend most of your time soloing at least at the lower levels. EQ2 is like many older games in the fact that it’s very top heavy. Once you get into the upper levels all you do is group. I would suggest finding a guild that you mesh with and start grouping and working with them.
I would recommend that you play a character that you enjoy if it's fun for you that's all that matters. But since your asking I'll throw in my 2 cents. It seems to me that your leaning more towards the a tank type class. So, I would recommend an SK. They are easy to level and are always a welcome asset to a group.

In eq2 you will spend sometime soloing its upto the person playing on how much soloing they will be doing. 80% soloing could happen if you dont like to group at all or you really suck at your class. I played Eq2 for sometime and really once you are maxed lvl you could solo and group or just group or raid.
I would say if you want to tank go Zerker , Guard , Pally or SK. Monks and Bruisers they can tank I grouped with some that can tank but the other 4 tanking class's are more used to tanking in raids. The better you are at tanking the easier it is to find groups or just make your own and don't wait around for some 1 to pick you up that saves the most time.
Also if you want to group more in the lower lvl's go to the AB server it always has a lot of people on and you will run into more people in lower zones to group and all.
IMO the most practical thing to do is get a friend or someone to play with and duo with them, makes the game funner and questing quite a bit easier. also if you do fighter/healer it speeds up looking for groups.
I know I'll mainly be soloing, I just don't want to pick a class that no one will want in a group.
I played EQ2 for most of 2009, going from level 1 to raiding. I grouped almost the entire time. It is a matter of finding a nice friendly guild who are alotholoics. What's wanted most in groups from your list? Definitely NOT bruiser. Shadow Knight are the most over powered tank, so they are wanted. Brigands have debuffs and DPS that every group wants, too. I personally find it more fun being a Brigand than a SK, but I just hate getting yelled at for not turning the mob fast enough.
Don't get discouraged about grouping! Advertise on 1-10 what kind of guild you are looking f or and I'm sure one will turn up!
I would advise the op to pick whatever class race combo appeals to him and you will find a way to make it work that is what I always do. I get so tired of the endless debates and flame wars over what class, gear and aa specs are "wanted"or "best". Now if you have aspirations of being uber or a hard core raider then you will have to learn what those people want and apease them if you want to be part of that lifestyle and I say lifestyle as at that point it's not a game anymore.
I look at it this way when one of you wants to pay my sub then you can tell me what class and spec I need to play to group with you.The idea that you are expected to have every aspect of your class mastered even before you actually play it and to have every dungeon encounter figured out before you ever even play through it once is pretty pathetic. Everyone starts from zero at some point and if you make a mistake, get a bad pull or forget to toggle some skills here and there so what. If we have gotten so obsessed with min maxing stats and looking at everyone we play with as a means to an end it's time to really start worrying about the future of this genre of gaming.
I guess stuff like exploring the game content , actually reading and taking your time with the questing and all the lore is just crazy talk. It's just rush to end game then raid raid raid for no other reason then to get the gear you need to raid . Everyone else in the game is just a stepping stone to be used when needed then thrown away afterwards.
Pardon my ranting there but it just upsets me when the whole human social element is taken out of these games or when it just turns into a stat war and the actual game get's lost in the shuffle.
Easiest to get groups is any healer class, Inquisitor and Mystic are good soloers too, I have never played a fury so I know little about them soloing. BUT the thing wiith EQ2 is that you have to know your class, study it, what does my skills do? What skills are best for what monsters? Dirge and Troubadour are very easy to play in groups (they are called autofollow classes) but they are harder to solo (they have the durability and DPS of wet paper towels). At the moment it has become so easy to level to 80 with help or by using xp potions that you find a lot of players who are 80 and have virtually no idea on how to play their class. I would recommend to set your AP slider to at least 30% and explore and do quests, if you ding 80 at 120 AP or more you are ok and prepared I have seen people in my guild ding 80 at 80-90 AP and THEN you will have to grind.
So I agree with other people, what do YOU want to do, where do YOU want to put in the work needed. And playing a tank is a lot of work nowadays you are supposed to know the dungeons, the scripts and be able to lead the group. Do not play a tank unless you are willing to do that job. If you have a great guild you can probably tag along other groups and learn but PUG do mostly expect you to know the zone and lead the group.I do not recommend any tank class as a first toon most likely you will be disappointed, and there are WAYYYY to many SKs at the moment, so if you want to get into the endgame do NOT roll a SK.

Brigand is a good beginner class. It is rather easy to find groups and to solo, and as you will most often dps (to play a brigand as a tank is possible but harder for both you and the healer, and it demands top gear and skills). They are good on debuffing too, but have little or no buffs (I play a swasie as second char, they are really similar and I grouped with many brigs but I am unsure about some details).
But chain armour, good dps, stealth and track is perfect for soloplay, and you have several skills to avoid aggro and can out dps many classes so finding groups are not that hard.
I never heard anyone cry specifically for Brigs in the OCC but it is rarely that a group that needs dps will turn you down.
The big difference between brigs and Swashies (besides Brigs are evil) is that Swashies do more AoE, at high levels they can actually do loads of AoE, enough to make any tank upset . Brigands do debuff more with their attacks instead.
