What type of final fantasy will this be...

So this Final Fantasy is shaping up to be a medival style final fantasy am I am right and I must say this is what im looking for.
Im not a big fan of the futuristic final fantasy such as 12 and 13 are taking.
So do you think this final fantasy will be more like final fantasy 3 or 7 style?

It will probably be more like FFXI style. Just with rehashed/renamed jobs and perhaps a new race.

You'll have to draw you're own conclusion, but the new update suggests we can experience past events of the world through a time travel thing called Echo.
I wish they would go futuristic, like final fantasy 7 or 8 setting.

I agree I am not a fan of the sci-fi setting that the ff series turned to. But looking at the screen shoots it looks more like an old school ff setting. So medevil/fantasy.

Judging by the confirmed introduction of Magitek in FFXIV we're looking at something similar to FFVI, which was a kind of hybrid between fantasy and steampunk. We've already seen one of the red magitek airships the enemy empire uses and they easily rival anything we saw in FFXII.
It will be more futuristic than FFXI, they've said so as much. But it won't be as futuristic as FFVII or FFVIII.
Just think what FFXI would evolve into if the world was 200 years later. That's complete guess on my part, but from what I've read about the story, I'm really excited.
I remember there being quite a few topics on magitek, but I don't recall SE ever confirming it themselves. They just hinted we might see something similar.
I just hope they don't wownoob it up to much with to much solo content. I liked FF11 because it forces people to work together, I was hoping FF14 would be the same way. from the looks of it, it might just be another single player mmorpg.

Huh!? what on gods green earth are you talkign about? Its more fantasy then a handful of the games in the series (ex: 6-7-8-13)
most of those are more advanced in technology over pure fantasy concepts. If your reffering to the FF brand things...well wrong again, chocobos, crystals, and monsters that make this series all apear in this. Sorry but your 100% incorrect.
I just hope it doesn't disappoint me as much as FFXI did after playing it a few months. I was so psyched and it started off so well... But it is totally understandable that they are trying to cater to all types of players, casual, grinders, pvpers, and the die hard FF fans... so ... I'm just hoping this one is less disappointing.
I hope it is like this, FF3 for the SNES was my favorite of all the FF series that I have played so far, which used magitek and mixed steampunk with fantasy / magic. I am playing it now...for like the 10th time using a snes emu ^^
Its impossible to cater to everyone, If one group likes grinding, and grinding is in the game the non grinders are going to be pissed because they have to grind some content. If there is hardcore content Casual players will be mad because its hardcore. If its all casual the hardcore crowd will be mad. All of that stuff is contradictory, its all polar oppisites if you like one thing theres going to be a crowd that hates it. Its not possible to avoid. You could find a middle ground but the the people on the ends will be pissed because it wont be casual enough or hardcore enough. Pick your poision.
There is no PvP at launch so PvP'ers need to avoid this game if thats what they look for in an MMO.

yep vanilla wow was so ahead of itstime they had to boot lot of feature in in bc in order to prevent server crash
i do hope some new game will bring back world raid pvp ,i hate instance now i like to see other player dam it thats why i play an mmo ,if i wanted to be on a wow private server i would go to a go dam private server for free instead of paying big bucks monthly for a supposed mmo
i will probably try vanguard seriously since its one of the only good looking game out there that isnt instanced,im just sorry
vanguard is so laggy i do hope they add donnybrooks to vanguard to lower lag issue and since microsoft donnyb rook is free i dsont see any reason for any company not to make use of this technology

I can't speak for everyone else, but me personally, I am glad FFXIV will have no pvp at launch. I "understand" why some like pvp... I just don't.
