you type, with a keyboard, ike every MMO. i said it in my last post, all they consoles since ps2 days have a USB port (or in PS3 case, many) you just stick a USB keyboard in it and type away, and of course if you want u can chat with other ps3 users (atm only outside of the game unlike x360). In FFXI, if you didnt have a keyboard, you could use a pop up virtual keypad, it was slow but worked. Most people who knew it was an MMO just picked up a cheap USB keyboard.
voice chat wasnt an option back in 2002, still doesnt work across platforms (ps2 has no VC whatsoever, not even outside the game) Hopefully if there is a demand they will add it in some how, but for now they said they aren't worried about it. My friend played on PS2, so he basicly used skype on his PC to chat with us and played on his big TV on ps2, people tend to find ways to get VC in there somehow, personaly il be on PS3 (rig isnt up to snuff probly) so il use my PC to voice chat and play on my console.
I just don't understand how console mmo players communicate with one another. I am sure alot of console mmo players have linkshells rights ? I always playe dont he pc so I am interested on how communication works on the ps3.
like zanfire said You can use USB keyboards, but in case you dont have one there is also a keyboard that pops up on the screen if you so choose to use it. (in ffxi anyways). It sux becuase you have to scroll to ever key, but none the less it works.
And now you have a wirless keypad that connects on the ps3 controller:

USB keyboards are really cheap and a must if you plan to play a MMO on the console.
As for choosing, have a look on the exclusive games before deciding. If you are unsure and have the cash, buy a nice PC but if you like fighting games like Tekken and Soul calibur or music games like Rockband or Guitar hero, go for the PS3.

Yeah i'll do the same, my pc isn't that great and i want to enjoy the game so ill go for the ps3, use skype on the pc and buy a cheap usb keyboard
For stuff like forums, vent, mods etc etc I'll go with the PC version. I do have a PS3, but I don't think of it as an equal to a good computer, as far as MMOs go.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
I m anxious to try an MMO on my PS3. Which will be better I guess would be according to what the individual is comfortable with. Ive always considered the PC best for MMO's and while it will be quite a change for me im going to try it on PS3.
Personally, I played FFXI on the PC, but I think with the PS3 being able to power it through just fine, this game I am looking forward to playing on the console.

As cool as it is that it's coming out for PS3, I am going to go with the PC version. It will just work out better that way.
Momo sucks, I have proof.
Getting both!
2 accounts, 1 for the wife, 1 for me. Even if the wife doesn't play too much, I can make someone else play it or dual box
