Upcoming MMO choice.

SylarX1SylarX1 Member Posts: 81

Hello once again.

I've been posting, a few threads about what to play. After your advices, I went to Lotro. It wasn't me, then I played AoC again, and it still fails. So I went back to WoW (My 10th account or so, it fails) as I go back to every time - I want out of this shit.

Is there any UPCOMING releases in the near future (early 2010, so not so long waiting time) that has a good chance of beeing the new MMO "hit".

MMOs i looked at:

Global Agenda; I don't like the way it's split in a sub and non-sub version, and it's mostly PvP based at first look if I'm right.

SW:TOR some say it wont even be a mmo? well it doesn't look like anything for me.

Is ther any other games that is being released, that will be absolutely - AWESOME!

Please, give some advices, explain just WHY this game, and such.

Take your time.

Dearest, SylarX

On an earlier release date mortal online and star trek are the only one's in line, everything else is rather later.

What would be the totally BEST release of 2010? What everyone looks forward too?

You're not really going to get a definitive answer to that question. Everyone's taste in MMOs varies. Some people really look forward to SW:TOR. Others are really looking forward to STO. Still others MO and Earthrise. That's just a few of the big releases that I can think of.

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR

I've never really been into SFI in MMOs. I'm looking for a mmo which starts out with like.. 500.000 or so. Just not 10.000 like some MMO releases.

If you are talking about box sales then virtually every MMO which is slated to be released in the next year will be 500,000 or more--this is my guess at least. If you are talking about sustained, active players then the answer becomes un-anserable. You might as well ask how many Angels can dance on the head of a needle (your guess is as good as mine). I know you didn't intend to but your question is just so vague that no one on these forums can answer your question.

Let me give you an example.

You just asked the MMO World what the best MMO is. If you asked the Automobile World a similar question you would have just asked, "Which is the best car?" How does either world properly answer your question? Best in what regards? As many humans as there are in the world, there are an equal number of "features" in the MMO world. Which one is best for you, me, or Susan down the cubical is not necessarily the best one for Sam accross the street.

You REALLY need to be more specific. I mean, you need to sit down and take a cold, hard look at how you play and the features you absolutely love in an MMO. None of "I like PvP" crap because there are so many subsets within the PvP niche that simply saying you like PvP is not enough. You can't say that you want a crafting system in your game because, again, there are so many games out there with some crafting system or another. You can't say you don't want to play a WoW clone because there are so many games which share similar features to WoW and likewise WoW shares so many features to games which came before.

Similar to dating, the more specific you are about what you want, the more likely you are to actually get it and be satisfied with the result.

Well..Thing is that I just need a game to LOOK forward too. Currently released games, are nothign worth. I don't think there is any good MMO out there right now. So I want to wait for a new polished game which is going to be great.

Any fantasy upcoming games that's sounding nice?

    Okay, well i get you.

Here's is what I love in a MMO:

    PvE - I love PvE.

PvP - Should be there, but it's not my interest really. Some players love it, thats why It gotta be there. I like it once in a while.

Good community - No dummy 10y olds "How i do this" "Gief money" "Who clean me after i pissed in my pants" Seriously.

Fantasy or Sience, idc. Really, I only tried fantasy MMOs (fallen earth i did try, but not me) but i love to try something new aswell.

Leveling. Should be fun. Not grind-fest (asian like, well i did enjoy Aion untill the grinding! They promised it wouldn't be there.. i twas there)

WoW clone... I don't care, just it's fun.

This is what I enjoy in a MMO. Is there any speficic releases that lives up to my enjoying?

    F2P:

    Allods

    Aika

    Dragon Nest

    Continent of the ninth

    P2P:

    Guild Wars 2

    Final Fantasy XIV

    Tera

    Blade & Soul

No idea if F2P or B2P/P2P

    Beatrix

    Kingdom under fire 2

Atm i think MO looks best. But thing is , I saw the developers writing crap about others and fighting on forums etc. That's not the spirit. They are underpaying them and so.

I don't know if thats the future game.

What you ask for is impossible, if no MMO satisfies you to some extent at the moment, then no future MMO will satisfy you.

    Playing - Champions Online
Unsure Of - Darkfall, Star Trek Online
Waiting For - Star Wars: The Old Republic, All Points Bulletin
Played - Age Of Conan, Everquest II, Mabinogi, Tabula Rasa, Star Wars Galaxies, World Of Warcraft

They do, believe me. Thats not what I'm saying.

What i'm saying, is I'm looking for something fresh, so a upcoming MMO. I just ask what would be my best choice to pick.

    I never tried GW.

    Nor will I. I'm a PTP gamer.

So if you guys have any interesting games out there, coming up, that is ptp and maybe apply to my view of a mmo (what I like)

    feel free to post.

    - SW:TOR is currently my choice, but I'm defently looking for more advices!

Hard to say.  Blade and Soul does look cool, but so did Aion and I think AIon was boring.

If you like the lore of Star Trek, I would order the game.  SHould keep you entertained at least 3-4 months.  All in the hands of Cryptic after that.

If you like fantasy, Final Fantasy 14 should not disappoint.  I really am hanging my hat on MMOS for a while if this game isnt as good as FF XI.

I would definitely put some trust into Bioware.  SWTOR will be a good game, just not sure on what levels.  It will offer some enjoyable content and I think most will suscribe for quite some time.

In the meantime, the free trial of Warhammer fills a game night or 2, Fallen Earth's trial takes a night or 2, or maybe try some older games out again like FFXI, DAOC, etc.

You should most definately not rule out GW2 when it finally is released because it's f2p(b2p).  GW isn't currently ANet's development focus with them working on GW2 so it's not maintained and added to like it once was, BUT, having played it many thousands of hours I can tell you that you wouldn't have even noticed the difference while it was their focus.  It truly was run every bit like a traditional p2p mmo, and much better than some (current 'failing' mmo name withheld).  If you passed on GW simply because of that then I'd say it was a mistake, especially after having read what it is you look for in a game.  There's a reason why it did so well.  I'd say just keep your eye on GW2 prerelease and not brush it off on the f2p aspect.  It will probably be right up your alley.

As for something coming soon for you...  Hey, I'd like to know too.  I have active subs to AoC and Aion.  AoC (Funcom) is waaay tooo slow at everything so current content is stale and Aion just isn't hooking me in.

It's PvP only. So no thanks :) I'm a PVE player. But a bit of PvP is always okay. But not like Darkfall.

I once watched the Star Wars films constantly.. Yes it's fun!

I just don't hope it wont be like a fan-boy game (only for fan-boys, and people NOT that much into SW universe will be dissapointed).

As for untill then.. Too bad EvE takes so long to get into.. 5£ on steam :O Anyways, I just play some FPS games and Dragons Age untill, SW:TOR will be released. I don't know if I can live without a MMO untill then THO!!! so I might ahve to get some other game.
