The FPV view and clunky combat also need to be fixed as well as....

My chronicle of complaining to AV is progressing here and elsewhere but before my sub runs outI have more input.

Other than the stat grind sillyness (don't worry I'm not going to go into that again) ther are 3 principle areas that are ganme-breakingly problamatic:

1. FPV view is not realistic. Don't tell me "dude! people can sneak up on you here as well as in real life!" I say fine but I can see more than what seems like looking through a pair of diving goggles with extra horse-blinder extentions and always having a badly-crooked neck like those goofs you see at work to slept without a blanky covering their neck and come to work looking like their spine was fused. Sorry but this isn't real life...real life in a mental ward for people with fused spines maybe but thats about it.  Remedy: have the regular view one gets riding horseys and maybe blind out chars in rear viw unless one turns atleast 90 degs one way or the other or just f___ing make it like the horsey riding view and move on.

2. The combat is putting my index finger in a cast. The 10,000 goblin battles Iv'e been in require one to spam sprint and left mouse click add infinitum until you end up with nerve damage in your finger. This is silly. What happened to well choreographed movement and attack selections? Even WOW pvp is far more complicated unless you remove the "skill" of pointing a cursor  at a target on a screen quickly which incidentally causes nerve damage in your wrist if you get too crazy about it. Let line up some real strategy and tactics and have CLASS DISTINCTION by limiting the points one can put into magic vs melle vs bow...mmmmkay? This game is eventually end up being superman against superman so why not just make stat grind easier up front?

3. The trade system needs revamping to allow for real economy. Noot sure how but now it's a joke and please allow trade to build EVERYTHING in the game and not have it be like you stumble over a house in a field and put it in your backpack (or that astrolabe thing you need for boats.)

AV should get off their butts and fix this and they will see 4X players in record time. I'll stay too!!! Love ya!

I hid behind a tree while 3 reds killed another lumberjack just one tree over.  They never saw me.

You swing an axe and you hit someone.  Does the avatar need to dance while doing that like a fairie?

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

I love running around trees while players try to kill me.. it's funny to see how long it takes and some of them just give up. This game ROCKS!

You dont want FPV, go melee. Problem fixed, if not, DF is not for you. Go back to eve online unless you also whine about the open world pvp and full loot, just go back to wow. Simple as that.

I have been playing for a few weeks now and man DF is awesome. Most the people that complain about it are the WoW kiddies that are used to being spoon fed. If you liked UO or SB you will love DF.

You cant accept or invest in some basic DF stuff ..

If you can't ..equip a staff or bow and aim  in FPV with the cross indicator in the middle of the screen at something and try to hit it then DF isn't really for you.

    Hell yeah!

One time I was running from a group of 6 alfar.  They killed my mount, and I was zig zaggin trying to avoid MM and arrows.  I went around a rock outcropping, and then turned around and jumped up onto the boulders and crouched down behind a pile of rocks.  They spent about 10 minutes deciding what happened to me and what they should do.

the only reason the caught me was because I tried sneaking off the other side.  I crested the outcropping to come back the way I came when I was running, but fell a little too hard.  they heard it, came around the boulders and swiftly kicked my ass.

They all sent me GG tells on top of that.  It was great, even though I got owned hard.

    1.  It is the same as any other FPS . . .

    2.  Try using some tactics.  Also I think after doing goblins for a bit, it is time to moe on to bigger badder creatures . . . where you will need to use tactics.

    3.  Trading needs to have one thing fixed.  No more universal banks.  I agree about letting players build everything though . . . kinda like SWG used to be.

Kinda missed the whole point of a skill based FPS combat system didn't ya?

Wow, this thread should be mandatory reading for all potential DnF players.

I haven't seen so many examples of the typical DnF poster child in one thread before.

Congratulations everyone, if anyone with half a brain read this thread they would run from this POS in a minute. You have really shown everyone how mature, and helpful the typical DnF player really is. Nice to see the player base hasn't changed it's broken tune in the last couple months since I threw in the towel. Keep it up, I am sure you can lower the population of the game more.

I have to agree that melee combat, in its current state, is the least fun part of the game and needs tons of polish.

Attack speed is too fast, attacks can't be charged, no direction control (can live with this if the rest is fixed), and character movement is too fast. Turning-on-a-dime is unrealistic and makes most combat a simple LMB spam hoping to outdamage the opponent.

Needs fixing asap. Combat should be a matter of timing your attacks, not LMB-hits-per-second fight...

Well as far as sprinting goes I have a programmable keyboard and have it set up so that pressing "w" makes my character sprint. So I sprint whenever I move now and num lock is auto run.

Having trouble pressing the LMB, well maybe you need to calm down? You don't actually need to spam it due to cool downs and the time it takes between actions (it's no different than playing any FPS). But if you do want to spam it you could always get a programmable mouse like myself ;)

DFO is a sink or swim game and you have to do what you can to get every LEGAL edge you can in the game or just STFU in my opinion. You don't have a programmable keyboard? Then remap it in game FFS! Have the sprint key as "e", no need to stretch. You don't need to spam the LMB, cooldowns mean you only need to hit it once every 3 seconds at the shortest it's just people will spam it due to the adrenaline or something. Don't blame AV for your own inability to compete, that's just lame in my opinion.
