This is just to get an idea of how many people think the game is great despite some of its other flaws, but if this was a group based game  do you think CO would of had more success or do you feel it is all the other issues that played in the games mediocracy?

playing: Dragon Age
Waiting: for FF14, Mass Effect
Want to try: Fallen Earth

I agree, if it was more group based like CoX i would still be playing it. As it stands right now the only time i grouped with people was in quests that required it and as soon as the quest was over people couldnt wait to disband the party and do their own thing. It even made me feel that way and i'm a huge supporter of grouping in MMOs. =(

If this game was more like CoX period i would have bought it instead of playing just the trial. if i never played CoX then CO moght have appealed to me but CoX is far better game and CO fanboys can run there mouth all they want because it's my opinion and it's not changing.

I would more than likely still be playing if it would have been more group oriented. A friend told me that the indoor missions do scale to your party size now so I will  give it a go again.

I have the feeling I would've lasted a lot longer. I didnt care for the missions much in CoH (this was pre-Issue 8 or something) but I still stuck around for a year cause I had a blast doing the content with my Guild

In CO, I felt so bad when I asked guildmates to come help. It was like they were doing charity. Cant believe they released this game without sharing 100% XP like CoH

I just cant understand it. I just dont get it. I hate Cryptic so much for the loussy design decisions they've made in CO. I'm like an angry ghost

No you don't get it; and I don't care to explain.

Let's just put this way: CoH blows this game out of the park when it comes to teaming. It's just not close. Sharing 100% full XP was pure win

I think CO is excellent, and no I don't need anymore of CoX, I quit that game because I was utterly bored of it.

Neither MMO is all that great. CoH was a grinder through and through. But at least you could get on ventrillo with your Guild and just rock it out. Took multiple characters to max in CoH/CoV. Even after I hit max I -STILL DID Quests- to help my guildies level too.

In CO, leveling was a real pain in the ass at Launch. You couldn't share any quests. Often times teams would be on different parts of the quest lines. So people would leave as soon as you get 1 quest done.

Now they got partial XP for Quests but most people still says the crossover XP sucks. Regardless, you never see people grouping in CO like you do in CoH

CO is a decent single player game but pure fail as an MMO in its current state. The pvp is ok but needs lots of work

That is a fair and unbiased review of the muti-player situation for someone unacquainted with the game, I must admit.   Teaming is a lot of fun in CO, I am always playing with a team and using vent.  That said, the rewards system doesn't really encourage people to team for 90% of the game, so if you want multiplayer you have to do it the old fashion way: making friends and playing with them for fun, instead of being forced to group.  I just want to make it clear that if you have friends and want to play together it is really possible and fun.

I don't really understand why teaming fails at CO :(

I bought the game via Steam last friday, been plying all weekend, started a new char on Sunday, reached lvl 12, and the missions are very hard for me going solo, I don't understand why groups are not forming, the Search option is like CoX still nobody uses it. Once in a while you see in the Zone chat some "LFG mission bla bla", but it just stays there...

Why people does not team up??? Is it because the low xp gain?? :S , Team is needed to finish difficult missions.

I've done some missions in team as some of you say, right after the mission ends the group disbands... why?? why does this happen??, that's not the point of a MMOG, the name says it Massive MULTIPLAYER Online Game, why play a game online if you only are playing solo?

    :(

No there is a lot more to it imo.

I think the problem in CO is a lot more basic and fundamental, teaming, combat, missions, world, rp, pvp etc all these things are present in the game and if you look at them coldly and objectively they are not signifcantly better nor worse than CoH......BUT almost all are presented in a way that makes them feel less fun, or more awkward or just more disconnected.

The are two core issues imo - firstly there is a real lack of any real conviciton in the theme, the game feels arbitrary and generic when it should be attempting to be engaging and consistent, then there is the gameworld which just openly and clumsily defeats any attempt to care or involve yourself in what is going on. Very quickly in CO you become convinced nothing matters, nothing makes a difference, you are simply going through the motions for their own sake so the question arises why invest time and effort, why bother to team.

I don't think describing the game as solo is quite right, like most any MMO, it would actually make for a very limited one player experience, but the term does stick because the games appeal is more singular and narrow than any other mmo (or game) out there. If you dont happen to regard that aspect with all consuming import you have little reason to go on and in all cases no reason or virtue in trying to share the experience. Cryptic's answer has been content that DEMANDS a team, but in a game you need encouragement, variety and investment - elements that are exclusive to the avatar creator but sadly feature in no other aspect of the game.

Agreed PatchDay. Godseeker just pops in to throw his pointless 2 cents in. CO was done fast and poorly.

Chalk me up as another ex-CoX-er who is totally baffled, mystified and bejiggered by the fact that Cryptic seem to have made teaming worse in CO than in CoX.

I mean, you'd think their first priority would be to take what CoX did well, and improve on it?  And CoX did teaming, PUG-ing, very well.

CO does have its charms, and not having had high expectations when I started playing a few weeks ago, I actually got quite into it, but the teaming situation is wearing me down.  It's not that I don't find opportunities to team - I blind invite at "hot spots" where others are doing collections, etc., and I build teams for some of the indoor missions and the 5 mans.  But without the ease of forming teams FROM THE UI, and without the dynamic scaling and difficulty for indoor missions, teaming is just sparse, unsatisfying and unrewarding.

In fact, it's wearing me down wrt MMOs in general.  If, as a casual player, I can't get the same social gaming buzz from other MMO as I did from CoX, then there's little point to it.  I could play other, more well-polished MMOs and get the same solo gaming experience as a casual player who doesn't have the time to commit to Guilds.  i.e., CO is more like other MMOs, but that's a bad thing, because it's lost the thing that made CoX special, in that it wasn't like other MMOs (apart from DDO) in just this specific regard.

CoX had something special in just this department: social gameplay for the casual player.  CO just doesn't have it - yet, anyway.  I do remain somewhat hopeful, but if this isn't sorted out in a few months, I'm out, and SWTOR will be my last crack at MMOs.
