Considering there is (every week for years) the same 15-20 posts listed about 'group vs solo' 'WoW dislike/like' 'sandbox vs themepark' and the ever popular 'here is what I would do...' there is usually a fair amount of overlap
It's a pretty good forum and the discussions often run deep, especially with the way they have implemented quoting, so someone coming late to the discussion will often be tempted to start a new thread so that their opinion doesn't just get buried in the old one. I think this is a decent approach, as long as the OP of the copycat thread has something well thought-out and original to say about the topic.
Wait a minute, wait a minute. If you're going to copy the other two "THE TRUTH" threads, you need to follow the same format.
That means THE TRUTH: (Insert FACT here, not a QUESTION)
"Are posters copy catting other posts(?)" doesn't work.
As for the thread itself, this is what we like to call a useless thread because it asks a useless question. People have been making their own threads since the dawn of... forums, even if their threads are on topics that have been discussed to death. Sometimes they have something new to say or offer, but that's rare. Most of the time, they do it for one of greed's aforementioned reasons.

It is often the same posters also saying exactly the same thing over and over.

Yes, people find it amusing to post a similiar topic from the opposite prospective. It is kind of an identity that the forums here have taken.
Hardcore vs. Carebear
PvE vs. PvP
etc., etc.
Yep, but why do you think it happens?
See you in the dream..
The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.
Boredom? Wanting attention? Confrontation? Failed to check if a thread was already discussing the topic? All of the Above?
Possibly because some people want to post something but have nothing new to say?
Possibly because some people want to twist words?
Sorry for answering your question with questions. My questions are acknowledging the fact that I do not know whey it hapens.
I go with all of the above.

Cryptic is trying a Customer Development approach to MMO creation.
