Hey Folks,
I just got a system update and was looking to return to one of the beautiful MMOs on the the market. I have played both Lotro and AoC but haven't seen their communities for a while now. I know that LOTRO just came out with Mirkwood but AoC will be coming out with Godslayer pretty soon. I was wondering which game had the bigger community, because frankly I don't want to play in a ghost town. Generally speaking, what are people voting for these days, which is the better game, and which will last?
Thanks for the replies!

It depends mostly on what you're looking for in a game. If you want the best pve experience, LotRO wins easily. If you're looking for twitchier combat, AoC is the better bet.
I personally prefer LotRO, mostly due to that, and partially due to not caring for the image that AoC has (riddled with over-muscled men and top-heavy women, neither of which appeal to me).
I'd say lotro. Been around longer, has more content, and a consistent player base. Just because I got bored with the new content within two weeks doesn't mean everyone did.
My fear is that they might go the way of WAR. WAR was a good game, but when I played I never say any other players. I just don't want to be left again!
Not gonna happen with lotro. Might happen with AoC. Lotro has a dedicated player base that adores the game. As I said, they have a very consistent population.
LotRO if you like questing, small group dungeons, and PvE.
AoC if you like quick leveling to get to end game raiding with a little PvP mixed in.
Both have decent communities, (LotRO's seems more loyal and mature). Similar populations, (1 or 2 busy servers). And both games will be around for a while longer.
Lotro has higher population but AoC is not even near ghost town, that's what I were afraid too. It has very good population, many raiding guilds and even pug raids going on alot!! I'd go with AoC. :P
Most beautiful game on the market is probably Vanguard.
But between these two, both are kind of half MMOs, but LotRO is a little MORE of an MMO than AoC is, and has the mother of all fantasy lore. But sadly both games are linear, with invisible walls, and far too many instances than any game should have.
