Fileplanet "play now" STO beta keys

KniknaxKniknax Member UncommonPosts: 576

In case anyone didnt see, Fileplanet just started giving out Closed Beta keys to "Fileplanet Founders" subscribers ($9 a month).

They are giving them out in batches, but 2 friends just signed up and got them instantly.

Apologies if already known!

Nice find, I just got into closed...

  • Bama1267Bama1267 Member UncommonPosts: 1,822

Seems a bit misleading. Here is the advertisement.

Founders' Club subscribers start playing TODAY.

FilePlanet subscribers join in on Monday, January 4th.

There is also an advertisement of getting a 3 day headstart ... guess the headstart is just downloading because the servers apparently won't be up again till next week. But on a good note you do get in for limited time and then get guaranteed open beta access. A bit bummed though to find out I won't be able to play this weekend like I was lead to believe .... unless I missed some kind of fine print.

Take some good notes fellas, I just don't even have the initiative to even down load the client to play (just not interested in game for some reason anymore).

I'll wait until final product is out and read the reviews everyone will stamp on here before I even think about trying it (views here are usually 100% on).

If somebody won't need the key(pre orders, for exemple) don't throw away.

    I NEED.

    thanks!

OR you can pay 5$'s and get the pre-order and test it out for two weeks roughly in open beta.. I think thats a real cheap way to test play a game.

Just FYI, the CB still has very limited days and hours that it is open to test for all the CB people.

The cryptic friends and family, and limited news, and sites that cryptic let play 24/7 are only ones that really get to play with beta much at all.

Doubt that will be changing before OB starts either. So do not rush out and pay thinking you just have to DL client and get to check it out.

You think its worth it to pay 10 bucks for the beta and it has limited hours and stuff?

IDK im debating it and its prob gonna be over once i decide

    NO:P

Only reason i think it might be is because CB peeps are guaranteed place in OB. And they will have the game mostly updated and be ready to roll right when it opens. If you are just nuts about all things Trek you may think it is worth it. I do not.

But still no. I do not think it is worth any amount of money.  I will not be buying this game at all till next years maybe when i see it for 5-10 bucks for the 30 days.

I just did not want to see anyone duped into this thinking it was a get into CB right away and start playing as and when they wanted. Not the case as of now and have not seen any word that CB was going to be going to 24/7 either.

the cb play tests to the public cb tester have always been limited, thats public knowledge, so dont let file planet dupe you into thinking its worth subbing them =D.  i wouldnt expect 2 weeks of 24 7 open beta either, i havent seen a game do that yet for an mmo, they go up and down as they roll out patches and fixes to things the testers find.

Yeah me too. I've been a paying member of theirs for years because every year I forget that they have my CC info and they automatically hit my card up to renew. Well I've stopped getting emails from them even though I used to get so many from them. And I too signed up for emails again several weeks ago and still nothing.

  • DarLorkarDarLorkar Member UncommonPosts: 1,082

Okay they (Cryptic) have opened the servers up to file planet founders.

They will not be any help today if you bug or crash, but any that paid gets into the servers.

The regular CB peeps are NOT allowed in. Just the new file planet people in founders that paid i guess.

Just as a FYI since i said before bed last night that they had not said anything. And now they have. So if you paid go see what you are in for:)

lol I've always found reviews on this site a joke.  Far too black / white and far too little middle ground.  It is impossible for any one game to have the perfect combination of features that any one person likes, and reviewers here forget that easily.  Heck, if you really listen to reviews around here, then you haven't bought a single mmo.  :P

My advice: Never sub to something just for one thing, I've been a founder member for years now, but did so for ALL Fileplanet has to offer, obviously not everything they give is intrested, but much is, actualy don't recall a game that didn't have a beta on Fileplanet, in some cases I was lucky to get in certain beta's without Fileplanet, but overall Fileplanet is pretty nice, never understood why people do it for just one or maybe 2 games as Fileplanet offers allot more then that.

Yeah thanks for that i've been around the Mo scene for many a year done CB's,OB's,too many Mo's to mention helped on IRC getting stuff like Dnl/SOG to run,so yeha i really should have known better, think it  was a moment of madness as i vowed i'd never use Fileplanet as 99.9% of there files i can get for free.

But tbh i know Fileplanet have a lot of influence these days,so Fileplanet does give a good platform to new companies which means they do seem to get a lot of so called exclusives which in turn last bugger all like Alganon, and getting into STO tipped the balance of my usually sensible brain i won't ramble about there methods but they do say one thing then poof, next day do another suffice to say there bloody clever at what they say and then do.But i suppose these days it's the nature of the beast a company :iE Icarus can get more exposure and spend less on advertiseing and in turn less on server load for downloads of FE,and in turn FP no doubt receives a percentage on downloads or some other renumeration so in fact subbing to FP does prob help smaller companies succeed in  these trying times.Just Alganon promo made no mention of non subcribers been allowed into beta just paid then hours later non subscribers could join so it's mainly the principal more than paltry monthly price which sways me to unsub.

Shit I didn't think about Target. I have Fileplanet sub, but wasnt paying attention this weekend to get my key.

I might miss out on the one today, so I just might have to go to Target instead  ;)

How did you pay 1 dollar at target for a beta key? I looked on their website, see nothing. You went into the store and they had pamphlets with beta keys?

  • DjfusionDjfusion Member Posts: 186

Target usually has pre order cases in the Pc game section that you can buy, but I remember them being 5 dollars for other games, but could be different for this one.

PS: Seems like Fileplanet has more keys up, even though it doesnt say so on the front page, just got mine  ;)

So if you are subscriber to Fileplanet and havent gotten one yet, GO GO GO  ;)

No way I'm paying 9.99$ just to try the beta.  I'm really looking forward to STO, but I'm not getting caught up in early Beta play money making scheme's again..... Remember AION??

FACT!! you are NOT paying 9.99$ for the beta....period. Get it? I hope you do

Fileplanet can't help it that you might only be intresting in the beta of STO, but still you're not paying 9.99 for the beta but for the Founders membership which is more then just your little beta key.

Yes I agree fully. Ive gotten tons of betas and just overall much faster downloads for game clients that I want to try out. Very much worth 9.99
