Why The Hate On This Site ?

I recently started visiting some other MMO sites and I've noticed a huge difference in the communities. And I don't say that lightly, because it was noticeable nearly across all of the boards.
This site has a very negative and vindictive undertone to it. Nearly every forum you go to on MMORPG.com has people putting in negative comments that seem almost obligatory to their mere existence as a community member.
Don't get me wrong, if a game is bad then it deserves a bad comment from someone. But that bad comment should at the least be one that is constructive and informative. What we seem to get here is a volley of negative remarks one after the other along the lines of "this game sucks" or "I closed my acount, bye losers."
What is it with this site? Is it the average age of the person on this site? That's honestly where my brain leads me to.

I agree, I also found out there are quite a lot of people here who just find it fun to bash games and other people just for fun, they only don't see it's childish and irritating other people (just take a look in the alganon-section, the game might not be that great, but the bashing is REALLY over the top) and the age of people doesn't help this, even 30+ people are sometimes really ass***** here. They just don't seem to understand it.
But annyway, what other mmo forums do you mean? then I'll check it out and compare them

So you expect this site to be a utopia superfluous with unicorns and rainbows? Don't hold your breath. The whole internet is like this. Anonymity grants people the audacity to say or do whatever they want without worry of consequence. You'll learn sooner or later the futility of trying to remedy something that will only get worse as we advance in the future.

Might be becouse of all the overhyped POS games that the genre has produced over the last few years. Im all but done with MMO's atm. Developers and producers just dont seem to deliver. Its one themepark with raids, raids and more raids down the pipeline. Im sick of doing the same dungeons 40-50 times just to roll a dice over some equipment or weapon you must have to move on to the next dungeon etc. etc.
Then you get expansions that increases the gap between the players in these levelbased POS games. A vicious circle that only create content to hardcore raiders, but dont bring new players to the games. As the level caps raises the gap becomes and abyss and there is no interaction in the games communities.
The idea of living and beeing part of a "world" has been lost. Freedom has been taken away to be replaced by sponfed fedex/kill 10 boars and reapeat quests.
I have little hope for the next 5-10 years for MMO's.

Seems the same to me on these forums as others I go to. No better or worse...
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
It could be all the trolls that frequent this website.
I agree with the OP; most of the people that seem to post here are exactly the sort of community they complain about in games. Which is ironic.
You cannot handle forum PVP, you are weak and therefore fail at posting.

true but forums like these that host a variety of players tends to lead to the hate. People just can't accept that someone prefers a certain type of game to another.
like others have said...you get this all over the internet. the reason this particular MMO site is the worst is because it was the first and most popular, so more of that bad seeds are going to be here than on newer MMO sites
Elitist, attention wanting, emo, sheep mentality, and conformity can all be found here. Many people here seem to think they are the only ones playing their mmo they are complaining about. Some think this is the only site developers might look for opinions but when you have other less hostile sites outnumbering the emo ones, they get extra emo. Expect more whining, mainly here in the Pub. It's the epicenter of emo.

This was a great place to come to years ago. The last few years however it has turned into a steeping pile of shit. You ask why? Just start scanning threads and you will have all the answers you need...

I agree it has become a bit overly harsh for the most part. It was not always that way. I have been coming around this site for a long time now and the hatin has really ramped up in the last year.
I think it is due to the popularity of the site. There were a couple of other MMO sites I used to visit and stopped because they were just rediculously camped by forumn PvPrs. Should call em PK's or greifers cause theat is what they really represent in the MMO forumns. Just out there to spew hate.
Does that mean everyone needs to play nice and only say good things about games and others? No. IMO, in order to get a really good idea of what a game is/is not like, you NEED to see both sides of the coin. Now, there are those that got a bad taste in their mouth about a certain game/developer/support/community. You just have to let that go and take their comments with a grain of salt and look at how many other posts say something different.

Yes this site is so full of negativity, unlike this thread which is all positive, warm fuzzy feelings.

For a MMO forum, there are not that many people acctually liking MMOs! Same as most movie forums i vist : (

Unfortunately too many people on this site Doom and gloom games b4 they are even out, making mountains out of molehills with disagreement over 1 or 2 features of a game, stupid political statements that the moderators should immediately delete, comparing everthing under the sun to WOW,etc etc
