Why don't you go research instead of making yourself look like an asshole? Every server is booming with people... they're all recommended now because they aren't "locked" with queues... so basically all servers have a healthy population but none of them are overflowing with players like what happened at launch.

Really shows how this genre is inconsistant in its opinions when one site awards a game most disappointing (staff and public vote) and another awards the same game best of the year.

I think this past year was just not great overall so there was no clear cut winner. Nothing stood out, even less so than in previous years.
I don't think it deserves the award: It didn't have huge expectations to begin with given NCSoft's track record.
It is nowhere near the disappointment people felt when they left Tortage in Age of Conan and that game was hyped to hell, especially due to the brilliant literature supporting it as well as the movies.
That having been typed, I still think Age of Conan is a superior game.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

I dunno, I think Warhammer would give you an even better argument for biggest disappointment (perhaps of all time). You don't understand, that was the game to steal a significant number of subs from WoW.
I'm not sure Aion deserves the award either. I don't think Aion necessarily deserves any award (good or bad) because in my opinion it really doesn't excel or fail in any one particular area.
Aion deserves this because it has everything a mmo should have. sure there is room for improvement but i never seen such a polished game released before.
i hope ncsoft will keep their promises they gave for the future. even it is a polished game it has much more potential.

Yup...people are waiting for their "perfect" MMO to come and sadly its not going to happen. Their expectations are way too high so every new MMO that comes out they end up hating. Reading the negative comments about Aion on this site usually puts a smile on my face. If the update coming early this year is as good as expected, Aion will be the best pvp MMO in 2010-2011 easily.
Good luck with whatever MMO all you haters are playing though!! I'm sure its 100X better then Aion.... /sarcasm off
Ironic that troll accusations are coming from a person who is flaming Aion in a thread about Aion.
Ironic that you consider this thread (let's not forget the nature of the "award") an inappropriate place to flame Aion. :-)
There is a big difference between spreading your own opinion (which may be negative about a game), and flaming.
The most important thing about this difference, is flaming is lame no matter how you cut it.
It speaks volumes about the person who is making the comments. You dont even realize how you make yourself look. It shows how hateful and miserable of a person you are - especially because you actually 'want' a game to fail and refuse to even give them any form of credit. It shows you dont really know about much of the things you talk about. It shows that your opinion is really not credible at all in the end.
Most of all, it shows that you are just 'playing games' on these forums, calling others trolls to try to get the focus off your own trolling. As always, you cant protect people from themselves.
It would be a waste to even respond to you, but I figured I'd just call you out so that others reading may take notice of your actions and take a second to think about your actual motives. Once you do that, the things I mentioned become very clear.
This award seems like hyperbole. The "new record in grind time" is simply wrong and the whole disappointment thing is BS. The offers nothing new is also BS, yes its mostly a rehash but has some new stuff and some refinements on things that are quite decent.
I am no longer playing this game, but I do not feel disappointed I just got tired of it, tired of grinding. But I knew that may happen. I was aware of what the upper levels had in store I just did not know whether I would tolerate it or not. But to say its a new record is just out of bounds BS.
So I call BS even though I would not disagree with a more realistic version of the opinion. The award is BS, hyperbole is BS. I rule this serve out of bounds. Try again.

Indeed I agree, too many people claim Aion does not "offer anything new". It's like they are seeking something to complain about, as when you think about it, if Aion doesnt offer anything new, then NO MMO has offered anything new - even WoW did not offer anything new! It was a rehash of the old EQ mechanics.
Aion has a good implementation of combos, movement buffs, and flight, a World PvP based RvR system, which makes it quite a refined system in comparison.
I feel the people who say Aion has nothing new should look at CoD4. CoD4 was not "anything new" as well, but it had multiple mechanics found in other games, and it took them and implemented them well in to a great game.
Again, if Aion is nothing new, then WoW was nothing new, and CoD4 was nothing new as well.

I don't understand that Age of Conan started with nearly one million subs and WAR didn't? Age of Conan started with more subs than Warhammer ever had and actually managed to stay afloat financially (unlike Warhammer, whose developing company has already gone under). You're very misinformed.
Conan was always bigger than Warhammer; anybody on the street knows who the fictional character Conan is, while not everybody is familiar with the Warhammer games.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

You're missing the point. Warhammer had more hype prelaunch by far than AoC ever had. Therefore Warhammer had farther to fall than AoC. Mythic foolishly opened up a ton of servers because they believed the fan hype would translate into a ton of subs. It didn't happen (for a variety of reasons). Players were wanting a MMO based on the Warhammer IP for years because they felt that it was the best possible fit for PvP.
I define that as a huge disappointment, bigger than AoC.

AoC had more initial sales than WAR, so obviously AoC had more hype than WAR.
You're missing the point: If WAR had had more hype, then it would have had more sales at release, but it didn't, so you're wrong.

I'm going to assume you're just trolling now or an idiot (or both). You're also factually wrong. From what I've read, AoC did 400k sales within the first week of launch, topping at 800k. WAR did 1.2 million in 12 days of launch.

Funny, coming from someone who spends such a huge amount of time in a section of a game he doesn't even play, spreading misinformation.
The funniest thing probably is that the game those trolls are trolling got the new mmorpg of 2009 award from the website they are posting in :
