You see.. it's all about the passion. The passion they had for GAMES, and that nobody has now. There is just passion for the fucking money now.

Nothing meaningful can be created without passion for what you are doing.

    Damn.

If you don't think developers don't have a passion for making games nowadays, then perhaps you've lost your passion for playing games.

Admittedly the amount of passion varies and some factors have genuinely changed as the business matures, but you still have a subset of extremely passionate game makers out there.

That was very entertaining,i enjoyed watching every episode more so than some movies i have watched lately.

That was well produced and i enjoyed seeing Mr.Schilling,i really hope his game turns out to be a gem,it seems he had the fervor to play EQ.

It was just incredible to hear about all their art assets, and the game was only started by a couple guys, who really were not gamers.

The best is HOW the game came to fruition,it was NOT about money it was about building a game they had passion for that is a huge difference from developers now a days.I might add that some of the biggest genre changing games in our history were started this same way>>>>Wolfenstein>>>Doom>>>Quake>Unrealtorunament>>Ultima>>>Eq.It was small time development basically passion over a game designed to make money.

The biggest obstacle now days is every developer has to keep thinking cost,i think it can really be a road block to keeping passion first.

lol!one thing is sure!it was about money back then too!first time the idea of an mmo(everquest) was preesented .it was flatly refused since company policy went in another road .boss changed the top 3 everquest guru(who are still there by the way) tried another time but this time with a lot more convincing argument.lucky for us they won.insider that when to everquest had called it neverquest, that should tell how that team was being seen.only when the sale pilled in,did everquest shut the mouth of everbody

but everquest  like all other mmo hae always been at a struggle with other money graber from the inside

soe employe couldnt care less about mmo they had other project they wanted made, so screw mmo

i listened to evercracked! and i doube very much we ll have a game as epic as everquest .soe other branch will step in and try to be in the spot light when all everquest want to do is make a good game ,if its more popular then wow !so be it!

but for that you have to let original everquest team do THEIR MAGIC!

eq3 is being talked do you think it will be auto-autorised .hell no .the same top 3 guys at the very start that made everquest a possiblility those will have to drop their pen go to whereever they have to go and do same thing they did for everquest

hell everquest THE game that started it hall!nope soe couldnt care less now they re busy with freerealm .

I agree kind of. There's a tendency to create cookie-cutter mmos now not ones which were fuelled with excitement with what could be achieved type thing.

It is  intresting to see that even Brad gives full credit to the EQ dream to Smed.Sadly Smed thru some poor decision in more recent times aka SWG has been branded the demon and here we see the creators of EQ clearly saying it was his idea to start with.

Bottom line its easy to go from the father of 3D mmorpg to becoming the devil .

What excited me most is at the end Smed himself talks about EQ next  so clearly that is something been made .

Everquest really did make some gaming history that will be remembered and built upon for years to come. I hope that the designers remember that many of the firsts and alot of the history was made by the players and what they decided to do with the content before them.

Raiding was never envisioned for the game at launch and it was clever players who created this gaming style by attacking and killing the original two dragons. The EQ team responded by making them harder and harder to defeat as the players brought more and more people to the battles and so history was made.

Even static MMO worlds can change with clever players and designers eager to accomidate them. As for EQ3 I will remain positive and reserve critisism until I have played the game because I think we have some pleasant surprises headed our way.

    Played:EQ,DDO,WoW,EQ2,Eve Online Trial,Fallen Earth,NWN&NWN2
