This week's Friday Update adds a ninth planet to Star Wars: The Old Republic's roster. Dromund Kaas is the latest planet to be announced, and serves as the capital for the Sith Empire. While Korriban is planet a steeped in Sith lore, power, and history, Dromund Kaas is where the Emperor and his Dark Council call home.
Below is a description of the planet taken from the official Dromund Kaas HoloNet entry:
Seat of Imperial Power
On the remote jungle world of Dromund Kaas, the Sith have spent a thousand years building their mighty war machine to prepare for an assault on the Galaxy.
Colonized in ancient times by the Sith Empire, the hyperspace coordinates of the Dromund Kaas were lost to time, allowing the isolated planet to fade into distant memory. Following a crushing defeat in the Great Hyperspace War, the handful of surviving Sith desperately sought to escape annihilation at the hands of their Jedi foes. The desperate Sith, leaving their collective destiny to chance, chose to forgo all known hyperspace routes and attempt a series of dangerously random hyperspace jumps and blind scouting missions. For 20 years the Sith armada drifted aimlessly in the forgotten regions of space before finally rediscovering the Dromund system.
The Sith’s first century back on Dromund Kaas was dedicated to reestablishing the glory of Imperial society. In the depths of the jungle, the magnificent capital city of Kaas City was established and a citadel built – a standing testament to the power of the Emperor. Ceaselessly, the Empire worked to raise both army and fleet in preparation for their inevitable return to the greater galaxy. Power hungry, the Emperor spent great energy discovering and perfecting esoteric rites of darkness – rituals that wrecked the atmosphere of Dromund Kaas, transforming the ionosphere into a swirling electric storm.
Now, more than one thousand years later, the Empire has returned to the galaxy – bringing full-scale war with it. The Sith have forced a great number of systems into submission in the war, however Dromund Kaas remains home to both the Emperor and his Dark Council. Even though the planet is bristling with the energy of the dark side, it is the Imperial military that has the largest visible presence on Dromund Kaas. It is here that the Empire’s power brokering games are played and alliances are forged and broken. For up-and-coming Moffs and Imperial intelligence operatives, success – and survival – hangs on the ability to master these games of intrigue.
It is from here, on Dromund Kaas, that the dark hand of the Empire reaches ever outward.

It gets better and better. Amazing planet.
Wonder how many planets there will be to play at launch, otherwise another great addition to the game!
that game is starting to shapeup nice.....16 planets i think
16 planets?
exactly how big is each "planet" going to be?
Pretty big as its a very high budget game. I read somewhere that Coruscant is 3 times bigger than the average mmo world. Really cant find where I read it though.
Isn't it funny how a quick search for testicular cancer can turn into a wank.
Wow, I wonder if it will have those weather effects like that? That is a pretty great design. It mostly just showed major landmarks, I kind of want to see an enormous expanse... if they'll have it.. then again, area hopping won't be a game breaker for me either..
Nice, lore to go along with the planet...
Atm my favorite planet, too bad it belongs to the Sith.
Looks nice and 16 planets looks even better, (@ the post above) I remember seeing something about coruscants size as well about it being larger than the normal MMO world.
Oh, in before the inevitable "see it's single-player!" post.

I tell you all now! You no able to exploring! It all invisible walls! Only herded from quest hub to quest hub like sheep! This game single-player game with multiplayer, no pay $15!
Dang, you did beat me!
This planet looks very cool, almost like Icecrown in Northrend. Except the atmospheric effects are much better, and the mountains look more realistic... and yes, there seems to be some kind of holo-strip club operation going on. Still, I'm a "good guy", so I still like Coruscant better.
yes, this game seems to be shaping up very nicely. But where do you guys get 16 planets from? so far they've only released 9, and on the website, on the box that names the planets over the holonet thing, there doesnt seem to be any more room for any added planets unless they make the box bigger which they might...but anyways now that it "appears" all the planets are sketched out....perhaps next week, races?!
One of the maps or something on the website had room for 16 planets. Who knows if it will pan out that way though.
Interesting.
oh really? I must've missed that...this is gonna be epic
For now. hrhr XD

That's why I quit playing WoW... Not enough strip clubs.
And soon you will belong to us. hr hr hr
Oh, and great planet, by the way.

Nobody is useless, he/she can still be used as a bad example.
Simply fantastic scenery here. Love the weather effects around that epic statue, the statue must hold a great task for a wondering Sith or Jedi seeking power!
The world looks huge I strongly believe SWTOR will be open world with lots exploration and things to do like clubbing.
I too enjoy clubbing.
