It may have been a problem but I've always prefered to play the underdog or least played class/race, such as being a Wookie Master Doc/Combat Med in SWG, big tall and hairy I stuck out like a sore thumb in any battle and worse still I was an Imp and so suffered a faction penalty straight away when buying faction goodies from my own side!! but thats the way I liked it, hard but I was more or less unique.

I gave DFO a shot, it really isn't my cup of tea, but hats off to the team because I can see that they tried, but with so many other MMO's out there I'm just not patient enough to stick around for improvements.

I am faily new to Darkfall though I have been on the forums and watching for awhile. And in 2-3 weeks (20-25 hours play time) I have already raised STR by 4.0, VIT by 4.0, DEX by 2.5, INT by 3.0

One of the things I did when I first started was run out to enemy areas and tried to kill other newbies that were farming. I got some nice armour and got ganked quite a few times too. Im no good a real PVP yet.
Also, in the past week I have noticed quite the influx of players. The starter town I am in (Sandbrook), is happening. As well as the Drawven one (Ymirs tear?).
I for one am thankful a PVP game kind of like UO has arrived. As long as progress continues I am going to stick with it. When UO first started it was a frickin nightmare and now everyone has fond memories of it, including myself.
    Darkfall isn't dieing.

    lying is a sin

    So is being retarded.

If you havnt noticed or in your case never subbed at all to DFO, then you will notice the influx of new players and the additions every day to clans/alliances.

DFO is the opposite of dieing, it is growing, slowly but surely we are gaining more people. I went around to pvp SOLO, AND EVERY FCKING CITY HAD 10-40 people in it. Latest sieges I have been in had 200ish or more involved in one way or another.

It is hard for new players but not impossible, All you need is to dedicate a few weeks into a melee mastery and a ranged attack(or healer) like a elemental tree or Archery. And you are set. It literally took me like 1 week to get archery from 0-100 and like 50 SS , Yes I played more then the casual player, but he could do it in 2 weeks and no I didnt macro it.

ANd I owned people with 450 HP with my 320 hp plenty of times, Called tactics/stradegies and decision making and have some twitch skill you can take anyone.

People fail to realize that the character does not make the man, the man makes the character. BTW how long does it take to get the EPIC TEIR INFINITY in WOW? and what is the fun of doing repeating raids?

Sorry but I would say it is harsh on new mmorpgers, because 1 you are either young and dumb and cant make it for yourself, or 2 you do not know what mmorpg'ing is about and dont have the dedication you need to be the person you want to be.

Sorry but for the people saying you need 120 stats and all that sht, you guys obviously are retards and played too much auto aim games, THIS IS A TWITCH GAME IN A RPG WORLD, NOT A LEVEL GAME, all you need is some tools to get started and once you are your off.

Good thing to do( probably most small elitest clans did/do) is to skill up your character for a month,  Get known in race chat/forums. Start your own clan, Practice PVP'ing each other for a few days/week, Then go around and practice on other players, either around starter cities or player cities/hamlets. Learn to be sneaky, gank farmers, Learn movements of players at different times.

That is a problem with FPS combat, larger things are easier to hit. It should be balanced with more hitpoints or something, dwarfs should take more punishment than a thin elf but balancing stuff like that is easier said than done.

It is balanced, you never heard of a BIG steroid guy use guns to much do u, they use close combat, well IN DFO they get just that, They get reach, and Dwarfs even tho wide, Are small as sht, making it hard to hit from a battle horn and semi hard from anormal mount.

I just started 2 weeks ago and my health is already 250. One great thing about DF is just about everything you do makes stats go up. Mining, Lumberjacking, Herb gathering and fighting all make stats go up. My wisdom is nearly 50 already. STR and VIT are already over 35.

I've helped defend our city against raiders, i've hit gobs, i've grouped and killed oahlieges, centaurs and Oak Lords.

Yeah some people radar hack and just about everyone afk macro's to get skills up but when you look at the game as a 4 or 5 year experience which is what we all hope a good game will turn in to, then it really doesn't matter. Yeah those guys will be more versatile but if you focus on a couple weaspons or a certain line of magic you'll be able to hold your own in pvp.

Come back the day you will kill a vet in one on one. Lets see if you will survive that far.

You can see the post that got me banned quoted on the bottom... surely banworthy, its even a quote taken out of this thread.... those moderators abuse there power and its killing the game. That is the point of this thread. My sub is still active, but I'm not sure for how long and its only because of how those douchebag moderators act. They want to treat paying customers like shit for no reason then I can take my money somewhere else. I enjoy Darkfall, its definitely my favorite game since UO. However, when attempting to get developer attention to fix key broken game mechanics and just end up with bans, its just ridiculous.

I want you to know guys, for those that are interested only : ) that although I started with a negative opinion of the game (driven by my frustration after so many gankings), I have evaluated all the opinions here and started playing with a new conception of the game. I thought: well, you cant be the best warrior overnight, so you have to work hard and in some months you will kick the ass of those who kick your ass now and you will laugh over the tomb of those who ganked you. I thought (drama music here) "no one will ever abuse of me". I don't know guys but I started playing and a new vision came to my mind, I remembered all what you said and I tried to find that first love that took me to the game by the first time. And although that night I was ganked by a player, know by everyone as a ganker from the Vietcong Clan I tried to think positevely "At least I got the XP for gathering this". But I also will stay till my total development to make this guy regret of his deeds, some day, this guy will pay.

If someone thinks that opinions here can't change minds, think again, I am a conversed and I will stay in the game thanks to your words, peace.

Try to chose a vet rival like evenar motred and tell me when you will be able to kill him in one on one.

He is one of the vet who macroed since lauch and even if you think about one day, killing those that kill you since the start, you wont be able to kill 10 months vets because darkfall grind is infinit on stats meaning that the more you play, the more stats you gain from the 1st time play to maybe 2 years because no one hit the cap yet.

The maximum of damage i saw was 140 as a crit. Meaning that his normal attack damage is usually around 80.

The difference between you and the many others not like you who complain, is you understand what Izure is saying.  "the player makes the character, not the game".    Few genuinely understand a sandbox game or want one, even if they think they do.    MMO gamers for the most part get totally lost without the guidance of typical MMO, hence most of the silly rants and misleading information.

    Nice post patshir.

I wonder if he knows that evanor was power attacking with a q5 trans q5 keened rank 70 weapon in the back of a NAKED, Let me try that against my full plate, he will do about 40 damage tops in the back, While I hit him for 35-42 in the front with his bone(if he had full plate he will soak a lot of the damage as well).

Also he was Destroyer spec and the naked had a staff, anyone who still have no idea of these simple basics of darkfall is just to lost in the for me to explain.

What gets me is these people thinking they should be able to beat Veterans with a newer character in a one vs one situation.  I got news for them.  You are fucked.  You will die.  You are not supposed to win.  Now turn your frown upside down because I have some good news for you.  You do not have to fight that guy.  You avoid him.  You see he made a name for himself.  You know his skills.  You avoid his area (darkfall is a big world).  Maybe become his friend.  Maybe get 10 other people and hunt him.  You see this is a sandbox.  You have numerous amounts of choices available to you.

I played Darkfall for a total of 5 hours lol. I regret ever buying it tbh...was a waste of $50

Three of the major issues that turned me right off of Darkfall:

    1. The world is far from emmersive. The starting town I was in had..count em 3 npcs. Everywhere I traveled the world felt barren and empty to me.

    2. Bag storage. The worst I've seen in any MMO. I can understand making looting more difficult because its ffa pvp but items stacking on top of each other so you cant see anything? Its a joke imo

    3. Horrible..horrible..horrible UI. By far the worst UI I've seen in a pay to play MMO. Within 2-3 hours I was literally pulling my hair out to the point that /quit no long after.

Darkfall needs alot of work to attract new players...and the folks who don't agree need to get their head out of their ass...lol I've been playing all types of MMOs but none of them left a sore taste in my mouth like Darkfall did. I may return if they add some major updates in the future but until then theres no way DF is worth $15 a month imo...

Certainly entitled to your opinion but with 5 hours of playtime your words hold little value.  When did you play?  You do release Darkfall has had numerous patches and two free expansions since release, right?

You not qualified for voicing such general assumptions with  just 5 hours of gameplay.

Because of that limited experience your assumption and concerns don't even scratch the surface of gameplay in Darkfall.

The game is not for you / you didn't understand it. That's all about it.

Of course 5 hours playtime is enough to tell if your going to like a game or not. Darkfall felt cheap and unpolished to me...it literally felt like an unknown company had created it. I'm sure some are having fun with it but can you all seriously tell me Darkfall is worth the subscription fee? From what I saw of it I probly wouldn't even play it if it was free to play each month.

I could care less what all you vets feel the "real" problems with Darkfall are. The fact is that Darkfall is turning most new players off simply because of the bland melee combat, lack of any meaningfull quests, and empty world. If Darkfall isnt getting more players and making them a better profit...good luck getting your more "serious" concerns fixed.

     Two weeks ago...

It's funny how different opinions can be.  I have the total opposite view.   I would pay $30/month to play this game.  IMO it's better than anything on the market.  It has a feature set that trumps anything else on the market and offers you a gaming experience unlike no other.

I am paying like 20 USD per month and would continue that subscription even if it would become 30 - 40 USD.

You not qualified for voicing such general assumptions with  just 5 hours of gameplay.
Because of that limited experience your assumption and concerns don't even scratch the surface of gameplay in Darkfall.
The game is not for you / you didn't understand it. That's all about it.

Each time you respond you make it more clear the game isn't for you. "Lack of meaningful quests" for example. Also, you didn't like the game after 5 hours and now suddenly you feel qualified to be the voice for "most new players". I see. You're entitled to your opinion, but don't act like you are the mouthpiece for all DFO newbs.

DFO isn't trying to be the next WoW. They're content being niche. As long as they can keep improving and polishing up the existing game, they'll slowly grow their player base.

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

Lol to the people thinking 15 is a waste of money for DFO,

People pay 15 for EVE a month, and you kill the same mob over and over lol. Same with WOW you do the same thing over and over, DFO best concept is PVP, but the PVE in DFO kills most other games when it comes to FUN.

DFO is like EVE, but instead of the real hardcore economists and stuff, you got hardcore FPS'ers and tacticians. It has its niche, and as more people learn about the game, the more of that loyal fan base will be and the more popular DFO will get and the more money Devs will get and the more bigger expansions/patches will get etc...

They said DFO might die 9 months ago, and while it did lose that big number after a horrible launch, It is gaining members fast and will only go up.

Thats funny, the things that ruin emmersion for me are npc's that stand in the same spot all day long and give out the same quests, mobs that just litter the countryside like theyre only purpose in the game is to be beat on (talk about making a world feel fake) and the slotted inventories with a convenient sort my items option= fake. The UI is different but not a problem no hair pulling going on here.

Speaking for myself the second I logged into the game my reaction was "wow". 3 hours later it was still 'wow'. I think for those that do not have that reaction simply might consider that the game is just not for them.

For me I like the freedom of going just about anywhere, anytime I want. The landscape and world itself is beautiful and as it turns out I do not need a quest to go check something out and maybe kill a few things on the way.

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Please do not respond to me

I am pointing examples of other games with healthy and growing player base compared to darkfall, This thread is about darkfall and that it is supposedly dying, and I am saying it is not, and is proven of gaining subs not losing, and showing that the Niche of this type of game style will keep this game a live and well.

And the bees swarm, because this game has population, if the game was actually dying, the bees would not be here? common sense really, I do not know where you are getting at, but this thread if beyond retarded.
