Yup, I need a new MMO.

I've sort of done all there is to do in eve online, but love that game VERY much...

I am also into WoW, but although WoW has WAY more content than eve has, I am sort of tired of the same old thing. I did try WAR, but considered that a WoW clone, so didn't get into that much. Have also played AoC which  I consider to be a better game than WAR... but, also there I've gotten tired of it being too WoW related.

So, ehm, I need a new MMO. I consider myself a hardcore gamer, so anything goes really.

Order Star Trek Online.  Play that for hopefully 3 months or more.   Pre-order Final Fantasy 14 and Star Wars as both of those games will be totally different from what.  Hoping FF14 is out around May, June.  Wishful thinking though maybe.

If Star Trek doesn't hold your interest, try Fallen Earth.  Some great concepts to the game.  I would recommend a decent rig though to play.

If you dont mind a nontraditional mmo you should try global agenda. Its still in beta but its so dam fun compaired to every other mmo iv ever played. (wow, eve, war, darkfall, fallen earth, exc.) Its a third person shooter but it has a ton of mmo elements, tank class, healer, support exc. The real reason i love it so much is because its fun to level! Theirs no grinding at all its 100% instance based but in a fun way. Each one has special puzzles and boss fights its almost like your playing a single player action rpg. and on top of all that no monthly fee :D (less u want to do a sort of open world pvp thing)

Hardcore you say? Try Mortal. ;)

Plays kinda like Oblivion from what I've seen. Closest thing to hardcore we have at the moment. It even has some enemies that pick you up and bash you on the ground until you're dead. O_O

Many good suggestions here. Think I'll try a bit of all, and work my way down. Global Agenda sounds really fun.

You could try out Guildwars. It is instanced to the max but the arenastyled PvP is the best still and the PvE is very differebt from Wow, and harder. No monthly fees either, or itemshops. GW have however no open PvP and only a few battlegrounds (in Factions and you have to lock up them).

DDO is rather nice if you want something free.

DFO and MO are interesting games too, they are rather hardcore and only recommended if you aren't afraid of getting ganked a lot in the beginning.

In MO, if you stay in town for most of your newbie experience, you can just call the guards to kill your attacker xD

    Hmm, you think?

I'd suggest Vanguard, but I stopped playing that myself due to the fact that I don't want to invest time in a game that might tank in the near future although I hold a soft spot for it and always will.

Sounds like you might want to have a look at some of the indie titles I guess... Although I don't know much about them. All you'll get from mainstream stuff is your average 'wow clone' as it's come to be known.

    Good luck.

Yup, I don't need another WoW clone.. been there done that.

AoC was at least interesting enough to lvl 30

    But WAR failed.

so safest thing is something totally new.

from the link you provided, and all the trailers I watched, Guild Wars 2, and Mabinogi: Heroes gets my vote-

I also watched the other ones. WoW looks outdated, Star Trek Online looked mediocre, Global Agenda didn't show much of what it wanted to achieve, and the others were just WoW idols with better graphics.

If I would choose ONE game from all the trailer impressions and the thoughts about this TODAY 09.01.10 I would say Guild Wars 2 would be the game for me. But we'll see. Many of these games aren't even out yet--

I have a few games I have been looking forward to, and waiting for the day they come out. I'll just list them here with a bit of info about them. None of these games are out yet though so really I am of no help with you finding something right now.

Guild Wars 2 you have already seen, and were interested in.

The Secret World, not much has been said about it, but I like the ideas behind it and that its not based in a fantasy world.

Blade and Soul, has really fast pased combat and looks a lot like an mmo / fighter hybrid. Also it has wall running which looks like fun, and reminds me of prince of persia.

FF XIV is at the bottom of my list, but I expect it to be a quality game so I may consider it.

Just wish these games were out no so I could enjoy one of them. Time for sleep now.

The same happens in Darkfall if you stay around most cities. People attacking you will get killed by guard towers.

In any case, Mortal Online isn't coming out in a playable state any time soon, it's in closed alpha/beta right now, so go for Darkfall if you want a game similar to Eve.

Also, don't really understand, you said WoW had more content than Eve, but.. one is player driven content and the other is just a bunch of quests :P

  • XanitraXanitra Member Posts: 26

trust me. WoW has more content.

in eve, it's the players that make the content, more or less.I sort of had nothing to do after I built my first carrier.

MO is playable and being played by plenty of people...it has bugs but it's in Closed beta and due by next month, I hear.

Sorry. Watched the Darkfall toturial, and was not impressed. Looked like a WoW clone not much unlike WAR.

  • HyanmenHyanmen Member UncommonPosts: 5,357

FFXIV won't be a WoW clone, although without a more in-depth look to it it might seem like it is. But I assure you, WoW will be in that game only in the spirit.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Sounds to me that you might want to think about focusing your energy somewhere other than the MMO genre of games right now.

    Just a thought.

    LOL.

This should win for the funniest post of the day.

Seriously, you might want to try doing some research on some of these MMOs before making a thread like this. Judging by this comment you've done next to none.

"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb

    LOL!!!  LOL LOL LOL LOL.

Your post was even more funny. I actually laughed quite a bit. Because figure this one out: If I was doing all this research as you suggest I do, I wouldn't even be here.

That's why I am here, to see what is out there, and of course get the help from you fine people. But ah well, guess I'll read the forum rules next time.
