Which mobs should I skill up from?

masterkudomasterkudo Member UncommonPosts: 10

My archery is 31, melee is 31 and greater magic is 25. Trolls are hard but doable. Will my skills go up just as fast if I kill easy goblin scouts? When should I get out of my beginner area (around the start off towns)?

I'm so sick of fighting around the same area. The grind is so BORING!

I'm using strudded armor btw and a rank 20 greatsword.

It sounds like you would do well to go join NEW for a month, it's a clan that helps new players to the game, look it up and send the leader a tell they have a player city you can go to for a new area.

I'm in the NEW clan already. Is it worth it for me to travel ALLL the way too their clan city?

I'd say so. Being in new and Hammerdale made my experience much more enjoyable. Make sure to start looking for another Clan during your last week or so though! If you have Kobolds around your area, try some of those as well (some are a minute south of Hammerdale), or find some clanmates to party up with and tackle some harder mobs. The game requires a bit more effort from the player, you can't just wait for everything to happen.

Traveling is definatly worth it in darkfall, if anything seems to be getting boring or stale in the game just pack up and move to another area on the other side of the world it does wonders for increasing the fun of the game.

If your just looking to skill up stay on a well populated goblin spawn hopefully close to a guard tower somewhere try and find a spawn which is less populated there is a small chance of getting ganked but just be strong and keep going if you do die. Only ever carry 1 full durability Weapon and max 250 arrows each time you head out. Dont forget food aswell and its good to get your skinning up.( if you have time to skin the tombs before you get attacked again!) Shamans are good for melee and just range the scouts. You dont need really good armor but some protection is good for example studded armor or chain armor. If you can get to 75 lesser magic you should buy the stamina to health spell. another heal other than heal self. it takes hardly anytime to do that. mana missiles*

Weapon skills come easily until around 60 (now takes 30-40 mins at 65 Greatswordsto skillup)(make sure you use Rank 0 weapons!, I got 75 archery at gobs in 2-3 days off around 4-5k arrows make around 2k and you should be fine to get to 75 off those 2k you make and around 2k you pick up., just pick them up off the goblins that drop them.

As a newbie you could go and mess around with the other NEW guys but if your focusing on skills it will be a waste of time however it would prob be more enjoyable to go to their city and do some clan hunts if thats what they actually do?

Remember Darkfall is what you make it to be i soloed for the first month and trust me I enjoy the game a lot more now that I am with a solid clan in a city. You dont need skills to have fun!

(forgot to add in relation to the question I think you were asking. It doesnt matter what Mob you are hitting your skill ups are based on hits so a goblin = same as a dragon. Ive been told this by several people. but not really confirmed)

Oh hey Dekthro, you....you're alive? I mean.... you didn't drown in Hammerdale's pond? Gah....next time we meet the only thing you'll see is water and your health slowly dropping. And if you still don't know who I am after this, I'm Irenor Rainstone ;)

And to answer OP, yes it is worth to travel to Hammerdale. And as Dekthro also mentionned, you'll be able to team up and take much stronger monsters (Raven, Men-At-Arms, Undead Dwarves). And Hammerdale is surounded by a very large amount of monsters ( Lesser Elementals, Goblins, Trolls, Kobolds, Skeletons, Zombies, Salamanders, Undead Dwarves, and many more).

Group PvE is much more fun, and with 2-3 friends you can try slow medium level mobs. The rewards are much better, you'll get R30/R40 weapons, tons of gold, banded/scale armor etc.

It's harder than solo PvE - you need to learn a lot about group fights, coordination, proper use of "heal other" spells etc. - but in few hours you can make more gold than in 2 weeks solo.

If you insist on going solo - try kobolds. Their difficulty varies from spawn to spawn - from easier than goblins, to as hard as medium level mobs.

Find a friend or two and go kill undead dwarves or something of their equivalent. They drop a good amount of gold and iron ore which you can then smelt and sell. You are going to want to PvE in a small group for awhile so you can get your skills up and still make money.
