X-Box or Playstation 2?

Ok, I need to buy one of these consoles (not both) as my new job pretty much means that I have to know a lot about console games (although I do know alot about these games, it would be nice to have a console to go with my games...which I get for free now)
I know the bad points and the good points of both. For example
X Box
Good -- You can pretty much customize the inside of the console, etc etc. Also the graphics on an X-Box is a bit better than a PS 2
Bad -- Since Bill Gates tend to be greedy, he only wants games to be on his console and noone elses....which basically means less games as game developers tend not to like being confind to one console only.
Play Station 2
Good -- Sheer amount of games is staggering. A lot more RPG games in PS2 compared to Xbox (which seems to be mostly Sports and FPS/military games...for the most part). Also the system is backwards compatable which means it can play both Ps2 and Ps1 games. When PS3 comes out they can play PS3, PS2, PS1 games, etc
Bad -- Since I now have a geforce 6500 vid card, the graphics in a playstation really looks dumb down.
PSP and Nintendo DS:
I don't need any of these as I have a Pocket PC that has a better video card, memory, and speed than both of them put together...now PocketPC just needs to make more games.
What do you all think? Xbox or PS2?

I have to tell you get a PS2... because there are just soo much more good games then on XBox....
If i think about the really good games for XBox i could probably name them all...
If you ask me to name all the good games for PS2 i would settlle for killing myself to end the pain, Just too much going through my head....

I vote xbox, simply because of

but besides that you can generally find the same games on xbox as on PS2 and supposedly the xbox graphics are better but my 20/20 vision can't really tell the difference.
It's really a tough call. I think the xbox controller has a nicer feeling than Playstation controller. ps2 plays dvd's while with xbox u gotta buy the little controller thing for like an extra $30 which is pretty gay.
again, I'd say xbox just cuz of halo2 (on xbox live)

yea I meant the smaller xbox controller... The reason why I like it more than the playstation controller is because the actual handle part is like fatter, I think it fits in your hands better. and also the left joystick is up higher where on the PS controllers the joysticks are right next to each other. I'm actually running on the cordless Logitech controller, it's very nice!

I would not buy a system if I were you. The next gen systems are all coming out in QIIII-QI2006 so I am saving for one of those babies...most likely the next gen PS.

I love my PS2. For one it has a lot more games and a lot more companies backing it up, and online is free. You dont need to pay monthly/yearly like with Xbox live. Just have to buy the network adapter and youre good to go.

We all know that XBox is more powerfull than the PS2 and no-one is doubting that...
But hey look at the numbers and sales figures... they must speak for something... PS2 may not be the strongest thing on the market... But if games were a weapon GameCube would have a PP7, Xbox would have a lazer, but Playstation would have a BFG....

Well, buying the Xbox for online is dumb if you already have a good gaming PC (seriously, what the hell Murt!). PS2 has alot more games, and though the graphics aren't as good, they are generally more fun. That and you also open up the vast library of PS1 games, which I have recently gone back to (PS1 RPG's rock!). So... PS2 is my vote.

I am really tired of people saying the X-box is bad becuase of Bill Gates. He didn't even make the X-Box! Don't you think every game system or should I say ever product is made with the need for money? Money = Exictment, usage, etc. Money makes the world go round. I don't know . . . If you don't have an X-Box, don't judge it based of other peoples opinions. It's just degrading the fact that you beleive what comes out of everyones mouth and I'm suprised to hear this from you En1. Oh yeah, hope your not running on microsoft. If you think Gates made that out of greed (well, he did kinda "stole" from Apple (or was it IBM...)) you might as well stop using that computer. No offence man but I'm tired of the "false" hate going to X-Box.

Which both KoTOR and Morrowind are on the PC. So it makes it pretty worthless.

While I do appreciate your comments, I have to disagree about the PocketPC. Mine is literally better than the PSP (yes, in terms of gaming too).

Not that I am bashing the PSP...I like the PSP...but buying one is sorta pointless for me. Also, there are a ton of games being developed for the Microsoft portable platform right now....since Im not in a hurry for portable gaming, PSP is out of the question.
Why I don't consider the gamecube? Well, for the most part a good majority of all games developed for the gamecube are geared towards kids. Just the sheer amount of younger kids buying gamecube games versus the PS2 and Xbox at my store shows me that.
Also, the speed and graphic performance really isn't that significantly more than the Nintendo 64. I just bought the Nintendo 64 for 14 bucks plus Mario Smash(?), Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time, Rogue Squadron, Megaman 64, SHadows of the EMpire, Turok 1 and 2, Golden Eye, and Mario 64 for another 15 bucks total and my kid loves it (so do I lol).
So, while I don't think the game cube sucks in any way, I just don't want it. (even though Resident Evil 4 is for it)

Well, can you explain why the game ratio of Xbox and PS2 is like 1:8? There are easily 8 times more games in PS2 than in Xbox. And very good titles too.

Because #1 Microsoft doesn't make computers..
they just make the OS And there are plenty of other OS's besides Windows
#2 Gates actually put in millions of dollors into Apple in the late nineties...
Apple was dieing and Microsoft gave them the help they needed to bring them to where they are now....

I own around 40 X-box titles. Over half of them I would consider action/adventure. You typed "totally awesome" I didn't. So much for giving my completely unbiased two cents about the system I own. This thread is turning into a pissing contest for a piece of plastic and metal bits. Or, perhaps a three page consumer support group for people who need positive reinforcement behind their initial purchase.

X-Box.
I see a lot of people are voting for ps2 because of the single player games. I myself have almost no fun in single player games, online is the way to go for me.
And frankly, xbox live does tower over ps2 connect (or whatever it's called) There's just a more advanced online community, adding more fun to games.
If you like to socialize and play online = XBOX (if so, my gamertag is "Serien")
If you like single player games = ps2
