Desperate for a DECENT MMO

bigmagiksbigmagiks Member Posts: 15

Im lookiong for a good MMO, preferably FTP but will consider P2P if its worth while.

Im looking for a good social game with end game content, ie. raids , groups, end game goals and gear. A game where there are goals to build towards to experience the best content with friends and guild members.

I dont mind grind, as long as im rewarded for it, if theres somthing to look forward to after the grind (raids, gear, game content) i dont mind. Ive tried many games and cant find anything that has decent end game content beyond WOW and everquest (which im totally sick off).

Please help, below are the games ive tried recently.

Everquest I&II, WOW, Face Of Mankind, Perfect World, Gates of Andaron, Voyage Century, EVE Online, Realmlords(vomit), Darkspace, DDO, LOTR, Jade Dynasty, Pirates of the Carabean and many more =p

Thanks in advance.

10 day trial is kinda short?, what you looking for a 6 month trial,

seems to me you have played most so you know that after so many they all pretty much become the same. Not sure what you are asking people for being as you prob know more about mmos than most.

check out the list of top 10 (that you prob have played anyway) then go downwards

    regards

The game Im playing is completely free and people still find reasons to cry.  So don't let this surprise you in any way.

wow peteski123, are you always so negative mate?

Yeh i hear vanguard was just about dead as far as community and funding.

Ive pretty much played the top 10, but thee is often a game out there that has a loyal player base that has a special quality to it that isnt run by a huge multi million dollar gaming house. If i thought they were all the same i wouldnt have bothered posting.

If not then, well, i lose nothing by having hope :)

Hey, ever tried Final Fantasy XI Online?

Its graphics are quite dated now, but still look good imo =)

Its an old game, and was not made after "WoW-rules" as so many more recent games do.

It requiers a linkshell (guild) to be any fun tho, as you're heavily group-dependent to make any real progress (yes, i know its easier to solo now, but its still a "group-game"), and much of the playerbase are 50+

I have lot of love for the game, but most of the people i knew playing it doesn't any more, so i quit too. But there is still a healthy player-base playing.

If youre interested, look around and read some forums and stuff to find out more.

Here is a link to a little FFXI Story =)

try this link to find a linkshell, or you could look around here at mmorpg =)

Remember, a linkshell will get you the best experience of this game, so finding one before you play the trial helps on the impression ^_^

A trial can be found at this link

    Hope this helps =)

edit: this link too is great to see a bit of info on what people do in Final Fantasy XI

    known as:

    WoW Hellscream - Kaah, Krum
EVE - Tok Marr, Naini Marr

I'd approach it from a different angle.

You've played pretty well every MMO, and you've come to the point where you're sick of the endgame content in WoW and EQ. My guess is you're bored with endgame content, period. Such content is by definition repetitive and tedious and perhaps you're now ready to play either a different type of game or else the same type of game but from a different perspective?

I don't see how you're going to find the endgame content of any other MMO different to that of WoW and EQ. What else can there be but more of the same once you've hit the level cap? Raiding for gear and PvP are all that MMOs offer at that stage unless you count eg EQ2's housing and crafting options I suppose.

My suggestion would be to look at a new game from the perspective of making the most of the journey to the endgame rather than rushing to that stage and then burning out on it. I appreciate that may not be your style, and it doesn't answer your question directly, but if you're burnt out on the endgame of the two main MMOs to offer viable endgame content I'm not sure there's any other option really.

WAR and AoC are the two obvious omissions from your list, along with Fallen Earth as has been mentioned, their endgame content is not yet fully established but if you take your time to get there you can still have some fun along the way and who knows what they may offer in a few months time. Allods Online also offers a slightly different-sounding endgame and will be in open beta shortly, you might want to take a look at that.

Maybe u should try SWG or CoH. Not exactly what ur looking for but both are MMOs u havent tried. SWG is outta its prime but i think CoH is sweet.

Guild Wars is decent and cheap enough with no monthly sub.

Heavily instanced, but group friendly.  Lots of content, rich storyline, even cut-scenes like classic SP RPGs.

One man, a small pile of money, and the screwball idea of a DIY Indie MMORPG? Yep, that's him. ~sigh~
