Well I just got the last copy of WoW from my local EB, im about to instal it and Im wondering which server do u guys think is more fun to play, and has a more mature audience, also I would like a mix of PvP, some grind and definatly raids. Im not really into the whole, major Role play server thing. so now its down to PvE, PvP, or Normal.. Could you guys give me some sugestions.. *looks over at WoW box and drools*
Oh yea, and does anybody have a guild on a server willing to accept a noob (iv played other mmorpgs)

I would go with PvP.. and "PvE' and "Normal" are the same thing. There is RP, PvP, and Normal servers.
And you will be doing yourself and everyone else a favor if you join a low pop server.

You can pick a PvE server and still do PvP. Its just not forced on you. Its been my experience that the majority of mature friendly players are on PvE servers. While the gank loving ruin your day types are on the PvP servers.
Its no fun going to contested areas to collect herbs for alchemy and get jumped by three horde members. I like the fact that with PvE server I can be left alone to collect my herbs (no contested lands) and later on go on a raid and PvP like crazy...best of all its on my terms and when i choose it.
Completely agree with this post. I have played both PvP and PvE servers, most certainly more mature-minded players were on the PvE server, in my experience. Infact, I found more coordinated PvP action on the PvE server I played on, ironically enough. I think this was because you can PvP when YOU want to and join organized PvP events with people in the mood for some PvP action.
However, don't believe everything you read here. There's no harm in trying them both and make your own decision.
I disagree with the first part of WillJone's message asserting that PVE servers provide a more mature player-base.
I agree that what it really comes down to is challenge level. If you think you'll have more fun in the long run avoiding frustration/difficult encounters play PVE. Otherwise I would advise player vs. player. I have friends who play on both types and overall the community is extremely similar with regards to player makeup. PVP environments within WoW do however tend to foster stronger social ties within guilds. This is probably due to the increased availibitily of events/encounters/raids/dependency on friends which is added by unrestricted PVP environments in contested (higher level-non instanced) zones.

Yes and ummm YES
The only real difference between the 2 server types is if you are permenently flagged as a PVP player when outside your territory or not. Obviously trying to complete a mission in enemy lands can be bothersome if you get ganked every 2 minutes by someone 20 lvls higher than you
PVP can be fun, and not everyone will Gank on sight but..... there are a few times when you'll be chewing on your keyboard after the 10th corpse run in a row lol.

I started out on a PvE rollplay server but didn't like it. Opposite faction characters came over to our side to set up their attack on a noob town but if they didn't attack anyone first there was nothing we could do about it. Everyone just stood around waiting for something to happen.
So over I went to a PVP server. No more waiting around. Ganking does happen but usually only in certain border areas. Ahh, but the revenge is sweet! Put out a call on the local defense channel and usually a defense group will form and the battle will begin. The exceptions to this are when a large group of high level players (50+) claim a noob town for awhile. In that case most players just move on to another area until the enemy leave. But really, you can quest normally for 95% of your time.
True, delivery type quests to certain contested boarder areas are not really possible until your character's level is higher than the normal range for that region.
I found the maturity levels the same for both types of servers. The lowest leveled areas have the most idiots in both with lots of corpses lying around indicating general gaming inexperience.
The PvP servers are numerous and seem just as full as the PvE servers. This is in stark contrast to other games.
I dont think their should be different server types at all, you should have to have pvp (all areas) and pve at all times not when you feel like it, by allowing people to not have pvp it takes the edge off the game making it boring quite quickly.
I know where Blizzard are coming from, their wanting to promote the game to as many markets as possible. I just dont like games to be too carebear, games need to be a bit of a challenge keep you on your toes. Then again thats why us Europeans always get harder modes put on our games because we dont like things handed too us (like Asians)
There is PvP on both Normal and PvP servers. The difference is that on the Normal servers it is consensual -- if you want to PvP you can, if you don't want to you don't have to.
In reality there is a big difference to the feel of the game on the two kinds of servers. On the PvP servers there is a large community of people who really like PKing, and that is why they are on a PvP server. They're not in the game for the content (although they will use it to level) -- you (as a target) are their content in terms of what they find fun. So if you like that kind of game then opt for the PvP servers.
I think that the PvP servers are well populated in WoW principally for two reasons: (1) there is no real death penalty for PvPing and (2) there are a lot of Blizzard fans who are in the game who like PvP (Blizzard has a tradition of this type of gaming, running from Diablo on down). Currently the worst aspect of being killed in a PvP situation is that you lose time -- you are interrupted from what you were doing and you lose time. Other than that you don't lose (or gain) anything. If you lost significant durability, any EXP or were lootable in terms of your items (as is the case is many other PvP games), you can bet your bottom dollar that the PvP servers would be far less populated than they are now. As of now, it's PvP-for-free because there really isn't any significant downside to dying. If there were, the population on PvP would be more like other games.

Totally racist and totally unnecessary. Please leave these forums or grow up and keep your mouth shut.
