Just recently frogster has blocked all CC and paypal payers from there cash shop. Their excuse is Fraud lol. This is a quote about it straight from their forums "explaining' to players why they were shafted.

Hello,
So here it's. I had to wait until I could speak to the appropiate department.
Some of you wonder why Paypal is blocked as well as the Credit card.
This change had to be done, since recently alot of credit cards were stolen and people bought diamonds with it. But as the creditcard was recovered or blocked the original owners requested back their money trough the Credit Card company.
For this reason the Credit Card is blocked.
Paypal allows the usage of Credit Cards as well and Paypal also has it's own policies which allows people to get back their money. The same thing happened here. People request back their money.
So you imagine that you depend on the income of lets say 100 paid users. Each bought 10 euro diamonds in 1 month. All of a sudden 20 of these people request their money back.
Now imagine this number with around 1000x more users
With this information I will also close this thread.

Isn't this the most complete and utter retarded thing you ever seen a game studio do , even F2P. Why is it frogster has so many problems and companies like gala-net, areia, and ncsoft etc. etc. don't. Or at least they don't punish their entire base fraud is dealt with behind the scenes and really us as paying customers should never know unless we ask lol. So the most cash shop intensive game ever devised is now impossible for 75% of it's base to even use, epic failure does no justice for this I am seeking a new word to help describe this xD

Sounds like a sound business decision to me. Insure that those who pay for your service actually intend to pay for it instead of defrauding the company through unwarranted charge backs. Those that don't pay for it have nothing to worry about. Those that wanted to defraud the company will have to work harder. Some valid customers will also be lost. If you can reduce the fraudulent charges by a greater amount than the increase in lost legitimate business than you have a smaller gross loss of income.
As it is only those who 'gift' Diamonds to others will lose the ability to pay for those gifted diamonds. Credit cards and PayPal can still be used for purchases of Diamonds that remain on the account that pays for them.
Totally free to play now no one can buy anything.
Just curious, if they don't accept Paypal or credit cards, how does someone buy something from the cash shop?
I ask because when I played I paid for diamonds with a CC.

The question is how is it this company has the only problems, I have played aeria, gala-net , ncsoft and many more other studio games for years and never , Never Have I seen this type of action and they all deal with fraud lol. I run my own omline business as well and deal with fraud myself, their are checks in place to help businesses more so even than the one's in place for the consumer. And 2 it's not like they are actually losing product to transfer the losses to other customers like real companies do so they lose that excuse as well. All they are doing is punishing their paying customers because the frauders will continue to fraud regardless of the rules you pass for your base. You put checks in place to prevent fraud and stop it before it starts, most places with problems with high CC fraud just delay the "sale" until final transfer, and paypal investigates before they jerk money back so again not seeing the problem, just laziness
@kyleran
Bank transfers and a few areas in europe offer game cards near germany, as well as UKASH which ukash sux IMO
ripped me on allot for a transfer and said I owed them still, I wouldn't advise any to use Ukash lol
It's not laziness.
When credit cards are stolen, that money eventually comes back in the form of a chargeback issued by the card company. If a business amasses a lot of chargebacks, the fees associated begin to pile up. When the issue gets big, the credit card companies and banks will often fine the company in addition to the fees. If the company has a high chargeback rate for a long enough time, the bank may simply put a block on the company receiving payments through credit card.
Also, your "omline business", as I highly doubt you get anywhere near a sliver of the business Frogster gets with Runes of Magic, there is no comparison. Also, if you're not aware of the problems rampant chargebacks can cause a business, you are very unqualified to run anything more than a business where you sell some stuff on Ebay. This is pretty rudimentary stuff.
But there are time limits for charge back (180 days or about, depends of cc but time for charge back is not unlimited, after some time after transaction charge back will be impossible), but RoM now will block diamonds forever. Before it was 30 days block, so extending it to longer time would made some players unhappy (waiting 6 months before fully using diamonds in game could be frustrating), but could be enough for Frogster for preventing from loses from charge backs. Blocking diamonds for infinity is another thing. Even worse is that, diamonds bough using "safe" methods (without limit) are mixed with "unsafe" diamonds, so if you have 10k diamonds on account if you buy now even 100 more diamonds using cc or paypal, all your diamonds will be marked as unsafe and are prohibited from using in AH forever.
i thought they only blocked CC and paypal from being used to send diamonds to other accounts, but this sounds like a total block
Think of it as making the game less cash shop and more skill.
"The question that sometimes drives me hazy: Am I, or the others crazy?" - Albert Einstein
Customers who purchase Diamonds through PayPal, Credit card, or through PlaySpan will NOT BE ABLE to TRADE (in AH) or GIFT their Diamonds away to other accounts. Instead, the Diamonds will ONLY BE MADE AVAILABLE to the ACCOUNT FOR WHICH THEY WERE PURCHASED.
Save your breath, people still won't get it no matter how hard to try to spell it out.
LOL at people getting all upset over this change. Good riddance to diamonds on the AH I say. Was a lame idea to begin with.
And yet, any fraudster with a clue can still sell diamonds for gold (and later gold for money), while honest customer is punished.
The question remains: why execute this move then?
RoM is the same as it was out of beta: great game lacking polish (class ballance, gamebreaking bugs, optimization) and ran by horribly greedy company (if you read between lines, Kerensky - pretty much spokesperson - hinted at that before and hints at it still). Imagine the very worst case of nauseating irrational greed you can, really try to imagine that till you feel uneasy - and you start to understand why they do this diamond lock or why they do not ban cheaters or why customer support lacks so much.
instead of blocking diamonds why not call the FBI and charge the people using stolen cards with fraud.
