there is a battle inside me whenever i see anything sto... "me wants now... let's pre-order" versus "me wants to not be disappointed and waste money on something that will make me cry because it is so bad."
I sense a great conflict inside you, I don't know why but something gave it away.... OT: buy buy buy buy
Skip it. I'm going to guess that you want more from a game than what Cryptic has been advertising.
Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.
My advice would be to focus on something small in the game that you know is attainable and not expect every feature that you have your heart set on, otherwise you will be building yourself to disappointment, as all the features every player wishes are impossible to implement.
I for one have two points I focus on:
1) I get to be one of my favorite alien races in Star Trek or a completely new one of my making.
2) I finally get to play an MMORPG where I can wear a Star Fleet uniform.
Now those are all ideals I know can be met, so anything else now is gravy.
Thank you,
Cayll
Just get a preorder from Target, it's only $1. You can jump in the open beta, help us squash bugs and get a taste for the game.
Oh, and beautiful screenshots by the way. The game looks great to me.
They aren't Starfkleet uniforms, I've never seen them on any show or movie. They're Cryptic uniforms.
Anyway, I'm glad to see some cool looking Klingon ships in the game. The colour scheme and designs look like something new and unique designed by Cryptic, and while I think the Starfleet designs Cryptic has come up look ugly I do like these Klingon designs.
The only issue I have is that there are too many windows. Klingon ships traditionally don't have many windows, but these have quite a few.
Pre-Order, Xondar123. Comes with original Star Fleet uniforms.
Thank you,
Cayll
Did you pre-order online from Target or at the brick-and-mortar store? The link to pre-order at Target at STO's website just takes me to Target's homepage... searching for Star Trek online at the Target site only brings up the movie.

I'm going to assume you never considered the changing uniforms. Even in the TNG timeline there were 4 distinct uniforms. The oriinal black jumpsuit with color co-ordinated shoulders depending on your division, a two piece on similar to the jumpsuit but with a collar, the ds9 type of uniform and the grey with the division colored tutle-neck as seen in the last two Movies. It seems reasonable to me that uniforms would again change as STO is set 30 years later. you can see them all here
I agree, the Klingon ships do look good. I think they may be the tier 3/4 BoP (K'Vort class) and not the starter BoP or tier 1/2 Brel class. OB codes came this morning, the client was downloaded yeaterday... I'm all set for 3 hours of file patching and server crashes when I get home tomorrow evening.
I can only give you one advice: Better spend your money on something else. Everything WILL be better then that.
My advice would be to wait 3 months after release. The game is in desperate need of reworking. The are far to many low quality graphical elements as a whole. In specific the gameplay environments have many low quality renderings. Specifically anything with text on it. Maps, zones and game environments, except for a few exceptions are rushed in my opinion. Not the type of game Id subscribe to in short. Except theres this nagging side of my brain which loves anything ST soo.... erk, Ill be getting it.
Really? I had not heard of that service to pre-order. I may search for what they have. This leads me to another question:
How many Pre-order versions of STO are there now?
Really thiking of getting the game.. I love St..great shots
Playing daoc and loving it totally..
have Played
Eq,Eq2,WoW,Coh,Cov,
and other..
which i have forgotten..

I don't have a problem with Cryptic making their own style of uniforms, after all, Starfleet seemed to come out with a new uniform style every time some admiral somewhere needed to change his underwear. What I do have a problem with is Cryptic making the uniform designs from the shows and movie a pre-order bonus and not as a standard part of their oh so customizable character creator.
Star Trek fans will want to jump in and see things familier to their favourite show, and will want to emulate their favourite characters.
