Where have all the good games gone...

Sponge3737Sponge3737 Member Posts: 25

Again I find myself, pleading for a game on these forums to get interested in... while I wait on global agenda. I'm looking for an MMORPG most specifically, however an fps or rts would be ok too... Just any free to play game for me and my 2 friends to play. I'm not looking for another one of the random asain mmos of which all seem the same now... I just want something fun.

For the record... we prefer decent graphics if its 3D, we like old school, as long as its tasteful(such as ragnarok... not maplestory) and we think text based games are a waste of internet space...

I'll list the Games We've played and got bored of here... I'll probably miss some, but you'll get the idea.

Guild Wars

WoW

Warhammer

CoH

Champions

DDO

9Dragons

2Moons

Cabal

Rohan

Silkroad

Atlantica

Age of Conan

Every Valve FPS

Every Unreal Tournament FPS

Fallen Earth

Age of Empies series

Battleforge

Gunbound

Gunz

S.U.N.

Exteel

Ragnarok

Rose Online

Star Wars Galaxies

Final Fantasy 11

Eve Online

Runescape

AVA

MU

Knight Online

Archlord

Runes of Magic

Rappelz

Many other various asain mmos.

     Try Spellborn? =]

Then there's alway Darkfall and Mortal...and Face of Mankind.

Maybe expectations are just too high, everyone is screaming for a game that is a decade from being made, or will simply never exist. I think people are just enamored with the [idea] of the ultimate MMO, and as it's been the case - and forever will be - such a thing does not, and will not exist. Nothing is going to take the little things you like about everything you played and throw them together, because that is relying on the chance that someone is listening to [your] specific tastes... which never align with that of anothers point-for-point. You'll end up liking some aspects and hating others, always, and I think you just need to find the one that is the most easily stomached.

Its not that I want some game of the decade.. I just want something to keep my interests for a little while... I'm greatly looking forward to Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2, however they are still a fair ammount of time away.

Also to the other guy, I have tried spellborn, and it seemed just like most of the other games I've played... Mortal looks interesting but, aren't they still in closed beta?

I will go old school a bit:)

Do you all have diablo II? Starting that over from scratch could give you all at least a few weeks of fun if not a month or so.

May be something new out after that or at least should be fun for a while if you have not played it in a few years.

I still play that game every year or so starting from scratch and have a good time.

We still play on and off, however 2 of us have lost our CD-Keys which is why we're not right now.

Ironic, Spellborn gave me a new but familiar feeling in a friendly way.

Mortal is still in CB and bare bones. Just core features are there. You can get in CB...by pre-ordering. =P

It's also notable that they break things often in patches. xD

Yeah, now I remember that's why Mortal looked interesting... you have to actually pay for it. The problem is we're bored and poor at this very moment. My next financial endeavor is Global Agenda.

Yeah, Mortal is supposed to be out soon but I can see it being pushed back.

Global Agenda is definitely worth a look. In recommend it. I hear AvA is great though I haven't had a chance to sit down and try it myself.

Haa haa. Sad but true. Find the one that has more plus than minus for you. The perfect game is a myth.

It's the 800x600 max resolution that keeps me from going back or I would in a heart beat. I wish they would do a update to Diablo 1 and bring it up to times for I would buy it again and play. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would do that.

They have gone to the most unlikely of places.

    Darkfall---Greece.

    EVE---Iceland.

    Go figure.

The 1.14 patch releasing soon is supposed to add high resolution... as well as a respec system.

As for a perfect MMO... I'm hoping guild wars 2 delivers enough plus' to be just that... considering the fact it will be free to play. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if guild wars 2 has a decent crafting system, it has the potential to kill all the giants, given the information provided so far.

Guild Wars 1 killed nobody, it was just a fine backup MMO cuz it was free past the boxcopy. If GW2 follows the same financial method then it stands to do the same, again, but it in no way killed any of the P2P big boys in the market.

If you knew anything about Gw2, you'd know that its going to be basically a completely different game, following a more traditional MMO approach, rather than the forced groups, instance only, non-jumping world. Even if Guild Wars 2 doesn't kill other mmos for other people, I'm hoping it does for me, as I greatly enjoyed the level of customization and strategy in guild wars 1. From mixing and matching aesthetically pleasing items, to the more in depth synergized builds and what not... I'd spend hours sitting in town, just making and testing builds.
