Indeed. Go to various online stores and you will see the slated release date of SW:TOR is set on October 31th, 2010.
I am puzzled which interpretation to follow. On the other hand he said "spring 2011", and spring sounds more like a seasonal than a fiscal definition. Tho the sooner the better.

Overall I am happy that the game is getting so much development invested into it, so I am not trying to complain or pick a fight, but as it is I have already resigned myself based on the game engine they are using that the game won't be cutting edge in graphics (they want it to be accessible, I get that) or gameplay (they want to go with what has worked in the past, fine), and if it is not out until spring 2011 or even later, these aspects may become more outdated. Maybe by the time the game launches it will have support to run in a browser and attract 60 million players on facebook :-)
You kidding me??? The main reason to play this game is cause of the game engine. The hero engine simu has made is nuts. You must have not seen any of the good in game vids of Hero's Journey. Not only that, just how the game engine over all is built for a MMO just like this. I'm not sure why the graphics so far have not looked very good. Its not because of the engine tho.
They jumped all over Simu. When they were not even in the market to sell there engine for good reason. When they noticed Heroe's Journey in E3 and what this engine can do for the genres. Was a real smart move on Bio's part imo.
Why is everybody ignoring the most important post on this entire thread?!?!?!?!?! A spring FY11 release could mean we are 4-8 months away not 2 years.
Uhm, because he clearly said in the Spring of 2011 of FY11 (which would be winter quarter of FY11), not the Spring quarter of FY11. Had he said the latter, you'd be correct.
Move along here, nothing to see.
Oh, and btw, great news that they're taking another year. That's fantastic news. EA shareholders should be happy with this news.

Is it just me or is this guy a schmuck? I say that because he just can't keep his mouth shut, he's the one who leaked the info in TOR to begin with, before anyone seemed ready to. Now he's spouting off release dates that noone has confirmed and probably for a reason.

All this just makes me wonder... what if Riccitiello had been SOE's CEO back in/before 2003 when they were developing SWG? Anyone here think Jedi would have been as well-kept a secret? Thank God this guy never worked for the CIA.
It's hilarious how many believe he makes "slips". He'd have been fired by now for all his "slips" ( regarding other ventures in the past, not just SW:ToR ) if they were really "slips". It's nothing but a really simple PR ploy to drum up more hype and keep everyone interested. Cheap marketing works better than all the advertisements.

I am so tired of hearing about this game as far as updates and new things added. By the time the game actually comes out I think I am gonna be so sick of hearing about it I am gonna be too tired of it to wanna play it.
Anyone who expected it sooner hasn't followed the development of many games. A project of this scale takes more than four years if the developers know what's good for it, and BioWare tends to.
Wasn't the whole point of buying and using the Hero Engine was to get away from these long development cycles?

Using another person's engine is not a short cut it circumvents some of the work, the money expenses adn some of the time but not all of it especially since the devs still have to create all the art work, all the game rules, balances, maps, quests, voice acting, animations etc. The engine simply allows them to put it all together quicker instead of waiting for an engine team to quickly put something in so they can do X with animation B.

If SWTOR is pushed back it at least gives me a chance to try out Catacalysm for a while.

Hmm I thought for sure Sept/Oct this year, but I guess an extra 6 months or so isn't going to kill me.

This is awesome, because as we all know release dates are set in stone, absolutely unchangeable.
This is what GAME (biggest game retailer in the UK) has on their website:

So...some game retailer website knows the date, but EA's CEO and the official forums community manager don't?

Well It's been officially confirmed by Bioware today they are targeting a spring 2011 release for SW: TOR:

Not surprised.
For once a studio has the full time to polish a game. Guess the decision to voice over everything bought the needed time to the devs.

I smell another Duke Nukem forever! LOL
I can't tell if you're serious. Did you really think it was going to be released in 2010?
Better Duke Nukem than the six month cycle Cryptic used to crap out Star Trek Online.
