With FFXIV Beta and Release coming soon I was inspired to arrange one of the new pieces recently showcased for it composed by master Nobuo Uematsu.
The original recording, (untitled as far as I know) "FFXIVNEWSONG.mp3" (and other pieces from FFXIV) can be found @ www.ffxivcore.com/topic/2795-final-fantasy-xiv-site-updated-latest-famitsu-scans-and-translation/
I may have changed a few harmonies and voices here and there, but kept it mostly similar to the original. I'm also playing with a string pad layer built into my piano for kicks.
Hope you enjoy

I watched the you tube, very nice!
thanks for listening
It's the first piano video I've made in months so hopefully it turned out alright ^^;
does the string pad layer on top of the piano sound okay?
Dude, that was beautiful. You did an amazing job on that. If Uematsu himself created a piano-only version of that song, I don't see how it could be much better than what you've done.
EDIT: Since I saw you questioning the strings. I believe they definitely added some atmosphere, and while not the main focus, contributed greatly to the overall emotion of the song.
oh wow, ty
can't wait to hear the piano collections that their music team could cook up for XIV $.$
just added "Twilight Over Thanalan" to the OP
Both are very nice...love to listen to the Final Fantasy Piano Collections; so hearing these so soon are great! Very good job too!

the piano collections for XIV might give my mind a meltdown :P
Though in truth, if you look at his hands you will see a technique far above the music he is actually playing.
In short, I'm pretty sure he can play much harder music (and to be honest much better music with greater depth).
Having said that justamemory does do a good job. I wonder though if he's applying himself to more robust music as clearly he is capable of it.
but that's just the musician in me speaking.

Aye; "Twilight Over Thanalan" is quickly becoming one of my new favorite tracks. In FFXI Sanctuary Of Zi'tah is a tough one to beat.

I hope haha
but I do often under-perform if only to relax in the simplicity :P
I used to work on more classical/jazz works but have been taking a long tangent with video game music.
patience!

To be honest, my thought is that perhaps you will go into video game music composition. It seems a natural seque.
lol... it reminds me of a time when I was at college and brought in a simple yet (I thought - and still do) pretty piece to my Harp teacher.
After playing it she looked at me with a slight smirk and said "very nice, but you have other things to do" and then gave me the Debussy Dances.
They were a bit harder
(can't find a great recording anwhere but here's one with a decent harpist. Part 2. As a point of note that's the exact Harp I had!)

Otherwise look forward to hearing great things from you justamemory!
