I noticed that. Though I'm not sure WHY it's disabled. It sure knocks the quality of the gfx in space down a few notches. I was surprised at how "meh" looking the ships were, and I suspect it's mostly an AA issue. the Borg ships reminded me of stuff I saw in FusionFall; grainy and green.
They wouldn't really intentionally do that for the live launch... no way.
If Cryptic has a co-branding marketing agreement with Nvidia then Yes-way, they will totally do it. That said, I don't know if that is the case, it could be a beta bug issue or something. Rest assured though, Nvidia can and will do this any and every chance they get.

thats what you do when you cant make a stable 40nm chip in sufficient quantities. that and praise tablet pc's as the greatest thing since sliced bread.
You can go into the games graphic config file and hand activate it but indeed the feature was turned off for OB while they work out some kinks. AA works, but only sometimes. In a few cases I saw some pretty amazingly funny graphical errors which ended up bluescreening the game. The option will be back soon probably.

Either way, I imagine you can force it in CCC, but it's still a lame move if they really did it.

Yeah, it's locked out on my HD5870. Says, "Your video card does not support this mode" lol... my video card supports everything
I figured it was just a beta thing. They wouldn't really intentionally do that for the live launch... no way.
It is related to crashing issues that people were having in Closed Beta, it's probably something that they intend to fix by launch.
Cryptic is trying a Customer Development approach to MMO creation.
pc gamers need to boycott nvidia. they hold back the industry every chance they get.
