No, is not obvious, if you want people to talk about this, you should provide us the info.

I'll go clear it up then.

Stations should enter a second reinforcement cycle and give the defenders opportunity to defend after being shot. That's how it worked since dominion (if it was working at all that is), and that's how it is supposed to work.
The Station in Y8r switched owner after just one reinforcement cycle. Which is a bug.
The previous owners petitioned this, since it's not how sov mechanics are supposed to work. The gm acknowledged that is was a bug and exploit..but said they wouldn't undo any damage done by it.

So basically there's this gamebreaking bug, but you can't even count on gms to rectify the situation should you lose your system to any bug in the sov system.

Since the sov system is absolutely riddled with bugs, the idiocy of ccps customer support just made it a giant lottery. You might lose your system over night and ccp wouldn't do anything.

As you might guess, a few people aren't amused..

I'll just copypasta two posts. Since i don't link to caod..we might immediately lose our "best community" award if the wrong people look at it:

    Tomcat:

As most of you may or may not know. A system in geminate, y8r-..the station was allowed to be captured after a single RF timer. Since this was completely wrong, a petition was filed immediately under the "stuck" section.

We were advised that the situation was wrong, and it would be looked into asap today. I rest with the peace of mind that the situation would be resolved.

I log in today, to find another response to the petition. I noticed quickly it has been moved to the "Exploits" catagory of the system. and it boils down to this...

    1. We know what happened was wrong.
    2. No we will not fix it.
    3. We do understand the inconvenience this caused, and is causing, and for that we can only apologize profoundly.

    Gee, thanks.

My beloved alliance leader Vik Luk:

As much as I am sure that GM team is doing awesome job in handling empire and billing petitions, they are constantly craping all over 0.0 dwellers.

Their total incompetence in 0.0 issues, starting from simple reimbursement petitions up to serious business sov issues is not even funny anymore. I tried as CSM delegate to pursue this issue, but I realized its pointless. They just simply
    1. Dont give a fuck about 0.0 cause we present only 5% of their customers
    2. Even when they give a fuck they are completely clueless about their game (its not just the GM teams who are clueless they have more then couple of devs who doesnt even realize what is 0.0 about and how it works)

They will pull heads of their asses only when we start canceling our accounts or start crashing Jita on daily basis.

Before all Goons/NC/Pl haters start trolling, in last year I was involved in more GM fuckups which affected our hostiles then our allies.

    No I am not mad.

No you cant get my stuff, I already contracted it to Endeva.

Well, I have to agree, that does sound pretty stupid, lets hope CCP reconsiders their decision next week when they've had a chance to sober up from the weekend.

We have passed all the relevant information on this case on to our Quality Assurance team and they will take a look into the matter and see if they can figure out what exactly went wrong. From their findings, we'll do all we can to prevent an incident such as this one from arising again.

What has already taken place cannot be undone, regrettably. We do understand the inconvenience this caused, and is causing, and for that we can only apologize profoundly.

To me, the GM response sounds more like:

We know there's this really bad problem, and we're trying to figure out what went wrong so it doesn't happen anymore. Unfortunately this is a videogame, played on computers and sometimes computers bung stuff up. There's nothing we can do about what's already happened, and for that we're very, very sorry.

I'd hardly qualify that as not caring.

    Just my 2 cents.

if they really care they should manually fix that is just editing a number on the database

Cosy, I know you love playing eve (love your pics btw) but seriously though don't you think you're blowing things out of proportion?

    This is not a game.

Is it possible this was a normal game mechanic?  When the station was reinforced did the attackers beat down the shield as well as the armor?  From what I have read in other threads about the new sov mechanics, the attackers have the ability to hit both during the first attack.  After that time, while the station is in reinforced mode the armor CAN be repaired by the defender.  If they do not then when the station comes out of reinforced mode the armor is still down.

I am recounting what I have seen in other Eve threads so mine is a question.  That GM post does not admit to any wrong doing and my supposition would fit in with their lack of response better than presuming a game company just does not care about their customers to the degree posted by the OP.

Perhaps CCP is evaluating whether the armor should be allowed to be beat down when the shield is?  Perhaps they think that since it can be repaired during the reinforced period that it is something that is not worthy of turning around through GM intervention, even if it was not planned/intended that way?  Eve has always loved their reputation as the harsh game with harsh penalties for player actions so again this theory fits into that framework.

There's an entire thread about ths subject with a dozen pages or more of discussion on the subject, go check it out.

Don't derail this discussion of a minor one time blip that has little consequence on the game or most of its players.

Because no other games have tech issues? Come'on man. This sucks for those that are getting the short end of the stick, but it doesn't really sound like CCP is trying to screw anyone. This seems like a lot of overreacting to me.

You sure this is a glitch?

  • miagisanmiagisan Member Posts: 5,156

If this is in regards to SoT and their station, SoT already admitted to not bothering repping their hub after the first reinforcement...so umm yeah....CCP already fixed the glitch which instantly repaired hubs after reinforcement, so its on the alliances shoulders for not bothering the 2nd time around

    You're missing the point though.
It's irrelevant if sot are failcascading beautifully or not. It doesn't change the fact that a game mechanic isn't working as advertised and the gms don't care.

The sov system was rushed by a disorganized and thrown together team and you can feel it. There was practically no testing on sisi and it was deployed extremely shortly before release in an unfinished state.

Look at the huge pile of bugs currently in one of the single most important core mechanics of warfare. "Excellence" my ass.

more like go to sov table  then go search for  solar system and replace a number  and instead 1208295500 put 1899990246   SQL is not rocket science

You cant have large 0.0 fleet battles.

The node im on already lags to shiz and thats just with our alliance on it....

They tout dominion as the 0.0 gamechanger yet all it did is crap  on 0.0 dwellers. no other word for it other than broken.

CCP fails horribly, the server cant even stay up for 12hrs+ now.

    Constant Rollbacks.

They dont reinforce the nodes even when petitioned as they ASK!!!

    Epicphale customer service.

Im so glad I dont pay ccp money otherwise i would have cancelled my accounts SOOOOOOO long ago....

Seriously, how did they get game of the year? Are you guys morons(whoever decided)???

Its as if your playing a god damned beta... They dont test their crap and i emphasize CRAP because there were SO MANY PROBLEMS reported in the testing phase of dominion 1.0 and look.... STILL THERE AT RELEASE!!!

They cant even change the naglfar without completely screwing it up. Instead of lowering the RoF like the description said... it actually INCREASED IT!!! HOW FAIL IS THAT?!

EvE ran better 5 years ago than it does now. Id rather have expansion rollback than god damn 30-60min rollbacks we are having now daily...

Id like to see every alliance on the influence map.... muster up their forces and just everyone head to the empire hubs and crash eve..... Why should empire carebears get easy eve when we get rollbacks? Maybe the only way ccp would listen is if their customer base got angry JUST LIKE EVERY 0.0 DWELLER DOES!!

DONT TOUT A GOD DAMNED EXPANSION REVOLVING AROUND A PART OF YOUR GAME THAT IS BROKEN!!!

There seems to be some momentum building for this very idea.

    Yep.

We have some experience with crashing nodes too..had to do it to get once of our corps name back.

Although, admittedly, this was years ago. Should still work though, thanks to orcas.
