Global Agenda - Love it or hate it?

So, is this game for you?

Hearing all kinds of things om the forums so I thought I poll it to see what the general vibe is.

It would be good if the responses came from player who've actually experienced the game (e.g. those in Beta).

Vote away...

I preordered it.  Even if i end up feeling that its not worth a sub long term for the AvA and perks, im able to keep playing the pvp and pve missions with no sub.  I feel it could use another class or 2 to give a little more variety, but thats the price for balance i guess.  Also im not sure if the NDA is down, since this technically isnt an 'Open' beta.

Yea, previewing my post killed my original poll, but it's there now :)

I'll edit out the word 'open'.

Most fun i've had playing with some mates in ages. Won a pvp match by 2 points a few days ago when we trailed most of the game. Setting up a turret secretly behind the enemy lines while my team attacked from the front to distract them was hilarious.

I've played a few hours of the beta, and now I just can't wait for the servers to come back on. Seems really cool so far, and has the amount of polish we've come to stop expecting in new MMOs (even in beta).

My Guild has been discussing all kinds of strategies now, it's really great how much more complex this game is than other MMOs (yes I think it's an MMO - it feels more like one than Champions Online at least).

    I think this one's a winner.

I voted its alright, I only got to play for about 4 hours total and had a lvl 10 medic. The game ran on my comp pretty well, everything seemed pretty polished as far as gameplay/combat. I can see the pve missions getting pretty boring after a while but the pvp seemed promising. I already bought the game but I doubt i'll sub, but I guess i'll know more when I get a chance to do conquest / AVA.

Kinda my stance too - I don't really care for the PVE much. There's nothing "wrong" with it -it just doesn't do anything for me...

The PVP is extremely fun. I like the fact its quick matches... I can log on and play a few in 30 minutes when I don't have a ton of time... great game - well worth the price IMO. It won't fill the "open world" void that RPGers crave  but the game play itself is polished, enjoyable and has a ton of potential.

Very good fun .... and even though the maps may seem limited, it is different every time. It's brill to spend a night on with friends.

I usually accept any mission, regardless of the classes, as all the different combo's make it fun and challenging :)

I also have experienced exceptionally good groups .... and exceptionally bad ones :D

One small tip to other players..... stay out of my minigun's line of fire !!!!

Same here.  I get a kick out of people who decline a PvE mission because there is no medic (half the medics don't know how to heal anyway).

The groups without medics is really where I have the most fun because they are the most challenging.

So far I really enjoy the game. I was a HUGE Tribes player back in the day and this reminds me somewhat of that. I need to play more of the game to form a better opinion but so far so good.

I don't understand how this game, as well as Huxley, can be considered an MMO.

The missions might as well be the free Call of Duty Coop. The only difference is that you can converse with others outside of game. There is no gigantic world - but mere instances. This is like paying monthly to play Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament, Call of Duty, etc.

Great post - I will be reading this as more and more people contribute their opinions. I don't have the game - very much on the fence. I was addicted to Counter Strike and TF2, and almost bought this game, but then I've read a few posts about how limited the game *might* be. I am sure it will grow, but at how fast a pace?

As well, thinking back to when I did play hardcore CS and TF2, would I have paid $15 a month to play? Maybe, but maybe not... I know I wouldn't haven't played them as long as I did with a monthly sub. Yes, I realize you don't have to sub to play the game.

It just seems most posts, if you read between the lines, players say they love the game, but.... . I guess I will just keep waiting on the fence until I hear more feedback from posts like this, because I know how fast I can get burned out on games such as these. For example, I played a few of the UT games. Absolutely loved them at first, but 2 weeks later, was bored to death with the super fast, twitch play style. It just seemed to come down to who could rocket jump more (same with Quake lol). I've read about rocket jumping in this game, and it's fast pace, so I am concerned it might grow old pretty quickly with me. I realize that may not be a popular opinion, but it's just the truth for me.

In any case, thanks for the feedback on what sounds like a great game. GL/HF

Listen it really comes down to this
10 v 10 pvp matches on a small amount of maps 4 members (3+you) can be pre-made to a random match
so free = mostly pug matches pvp wise, you can pve with your 4 (woopty)
    pay =
    10 v 10 pre-made groups defense/attack  on a few different maps
it costs game money to fight on these (you put a bid on a fight..) , and you also need a guild leader (a group of "recruits" can not set one of these matches up)

so basically you pay to not have to PUG there is very very limited maps on pve/pvp/ava they said they're gonna be adding stuff over the next 6 months
I got a refund, IT IS FUN, but too many restrictions on having set groups and having to pay to not pug is a joke imo.

Can you confirm with a link that 10v10 (or a queue with 10) can only happen via sub fees? I've never read that anywhere... Seems they're gonna let you queue up no matter what (sub or not subbed) but you're right... you can only do 10v10 AVA with a leader, etc...

The rest of your post I kind of agree with though... Its super fun but it does have some limitations... I figure they will address these going forward as the dev community is top notch.  Keep in mind - they've already said they intend to double ALL maps (PvP/AvA/PvE) over the next 6 months and sooner....

I have around 400 hrs logged on TF2 but when i go back to try and play it when GA's servers are down i am bored to tears. If i get half as much time in GA its more than worth the boxed price. I've had more fun in GA in a week then i had in Aion in 3 months. GA is a team game and if you play with some friends it is loads of fun.

     Love It

also, they are going to make standard 10v10 pvpv matches with premades in the future, as of right now, yes you can only do 4 outside of ava

It's an MMO in that it's persistant. There are auction houses, PvE, loot, crafting, character customization, etc. You don't have that in call of duty.
Nor do you have to pay a monthly fee if you don't want to. You can PvP and PvE with no monthly fee.

I've been really enjoying the game. It's quite fun.

"For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed:
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!"

You do have 10v10 free matches. The conquest map is 60v60 but broken into 6 smaller 10v10 matches and each has an affect on another.

Here is a description someone posted of the conquest mode on another forum:

Basically, Conquest/AvA can be looked at from WoW terms like this: Say you're in Wintergrasp, attacking, and the fortress has a huge forcefield around it. You're in a 10-man raid attacking the east wall. Your guild has another 10-man on the west side, but neither of you can attack until the forcefield goes down, so you're currently defending your tower until it does. Your guild has a third 10-man attacking, say, a location in Icecrown which controls the forcefield on WG. If this team is successful, WG's field will go down, and the two groups in WG can proceed to attack. They may or may not be successful, but if they are, a fourth 10-man can proceed to the center of the fortress and claim it as their own. That's my WoW-based theory on how AvA works, I think it's fairly accurate from what I've read, except there's actually 6 10-man raids going on at once.

I played the closed beta for awhile and saw huge problems going forward. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun shooter with some nice concepts behind it. What is wrong with it is just that you are paying a monthly sub for a shooter.

There are a ton of free ( and better ) FPS's out there. This does remind me a little bit of Hellgate: London. Small instanced levels and not a heck of a lot to do in the endgame phase. HGL didn't have a good of a PVP structure as this one, but you didn't have to pay for a lot. Quake I played for free and same with games like Socom. You actually were getting a lot without a sub.

And that's how I felt here, I wasn't getting a lot as a sub. And for that $50 I could get more. I could play team fortress for months on that money. That at least has more choices of classes and builds etc.

What it does come down to is if you like the game, you play it. Give it a shot and see how it goes. Unless you don't want to risk the money, do a trial.

Good luck in whatever you choose, I'm not playing it.

this game is gonna be huge in a year. im strongly biased and i love it, but the game has mass appeal. it has the best dev team ive seen backing it.

no, youre not. youre paying a monthly sub for an MMO that has shooter aspects. youre paying for persistency, and a whole different game  of AvA (which is a lot like an RTS with you being in the middle of it; youre able to build facilities, vehicles and protect your own territory against invasion).

but as you said, if you like it you'll know it. if it's meh, then you'll just focus on what you see as problems. you see huge problems going forward, i dont see anything but a bright future for the game.

I was/am disappointed by GA.  My first impressions: I guess I didn't do enough research, but it reminds me far too much of Crimecraft. For a game like Crimecraft to get destroyed for having the exact same lobby, crafting, missions, etc, system makes me laugh.  I didn't expect GA to look like that, yet within a half hour of playing it's clear it's nearly the exact same model.  Are people just conveniently ignoring that fact when praising this game while crucifying Crimecraft for trying to call itself an MMO?

The combat is much, much better in GA, no doubt.  But I was not wowed by a giant lobby with some TF2 inspired combat.

Sorry but I cant vote as there is no choice for me.

While I see many wrong things in Global Agenda as MMO, I cannot say its fail, even opposite and I'm sure that many players will like it. Its just not game for me because I prefer more open world type of MMOs.

I think the same for WoW - you have to pay monthly sub for a multiplayer RPG, but as you can see there are enough players that are glad to do it :)

I am playing this game in beta for quite some time, and is really requiring a lot of teamwork to win a game, which reminds me of Guild War!!

I haven't try the AvA yet, but a little bit disappoint me as it wasn't like Planetside which is open world attack, and large scale battle.  However, I hope they implement other things that can keep the AvA more exciting !!!  Still needs some work

but the whole game in general is very polishing !! =)

    do your research kids =)

Crimecraft is absolutely nothing like GA. other than the fact it's a third person shooer.
