I want to upgrade my video card

IncendiousIncendious Member Posts: 20

Hi,

I'm running a Dell XPS 700 with a GeForce 7950 video card. I'd like to upgrade to something faster/better, and two cards that Dell claims are compatible with my rig are a 9500 1GB card and a 9800 512MB card. So, which is the better card: higher number or higher memory?

Thanks

The higher number. The settings a 9500GT can handle wouldn't even take up 256MB of ram. There's not even a difference between the 9800GT 512MB and 9800GT 1GB.. you need a faster card than that even to run into memory problems.

Here's the XFX 9800GT 512MB from fry's, $100 but has a $30 rebate, pretty good deal if you don't mind rebates.

u got 750 GT or 7950 GX2? if u got gx2 and going to 9800 gt then u are downgrading my fen.

7950 gt to 9800 gt is not so far off too. should go with 8800 gtx, 8800 gts 512mb, 9800 gtx, 3870 ect....

If its compatible with a 9800GT then its compatible with any single GPU card.  Every category ATI has the best buy.  Just the truth of this moment in tech.
