Because of the almost unplayable OPEN BETA i corrected the Rate to 5.0
Its impossible to do quests with hundreds of players hunting and Super Slow Spawn Rates, Ultra Low XP and a few MOBs here and there.
At the moment this game is unplayable for casual players, because 20 people hunt 5 spiders or 30 players search for 5 Birch Bark spawns.
In addition: Forced PvP and FoD will give many people a reason to quit as soon as they found out what it is...
UDATE 20.02.2010 : THE CASH SHOP PRICES RUINED THE GAME COMPLETLY, NEW RATING 5.0 !! THEY ARE SUICIDING BEFORE OFFICIAL RELEASE....
Hi,
i was able to play the BETA and sadly this game turns out to be one of the games that promise alot and hold nothing. I really tried hard to get into this game but it wasnt possible. i couldnt find enough patience and will to level any class above level 7. I know many will say "bah noob, you have no clue" but sadly i have enough experience to know that this game wont get far after the Cash Shop has openend.
Here are the reasons i rate this game as BAD and not more than 6.0
- Character Design > Wonderful ! gives big hope for the comming adventures ! best part of the game.
- Grafic Engine > the grafic looks good at start and then it looks like any other Asian F2P game.. nothing special at all
- Combat Engine > Fights take much to long and are boring as hell, i became tired while fighting, in addition the XP reward for kills is nothing compared to what you need to level. For farmers or Grinders this game is definatly a wrong decision. As Scout i had to press the same Attack Key for like 15-20 times before a little Level 4 Rat died. As Level 5 Mage i had to spam my attacks 15-20 times before a L5 Mob died. The combat is simply to long and all the attack skills are to weak, it takes ages to kill something. The combat engine feels like Everquest from 1998.
- Typical XP Message after a fight >> "You gained 24 xp. You need 6455 to level" that would be 268 Kills at level 5 !! how many would i need at level 30 ?? 3 million kills ? not fun not fun....
- Quests > Walk walk walk walk walk and walk again, but the MAP feature which shows you the quest locations is nice. Nothing new, its the same as usual. "Kill X and collect X" "Talk to X then go to X" so boring...
- Class design > when you 1st see all the classes you will be impressed like i was, but trying them all out just shows how simple they are designed. I really tried all classes at least to level 7 but there was only one somehow playable for me and that was Summoner, i could kill faster with the pet and it was a good tank but that was it.
- Fatigue system, what a stupid idea that is. at some point you cant gain more XP and its stored as FATIGUE XP on your XP bar. The worst is that if you want to get this stored xp you need to visit an INN and rest there to get your xp. I often was close to level but this stupid Fatigue XP bar wouldnt move anymore so i was forced to walk the long way back to the INN every 20-30 minutes. Simply horrible and absolutely unneccessary. FATIGUE XP = Failure
As Scout i got a Fire Buff for my Arrows which i had to use before every fight, it took ages until i started fighting.
Psionicist was the worst of all, i could basicaly kill nothing under 1-2 minutes. The base attacks and spells are just to weak to enjoy..
I put most points into Percetion to make sure spells wont get resisted but i had no more points left for Intelligence, a complete fail to make spell casting so dependant on Perception.
Pet AI and Control are also a failure. Instead your pets attacks when you attack, it can be PASSIVE, DEFENSIVE or and thats the most stupid setting AGGRESSIVE. Your pet will free attack any mob near and produce chaos and frustration. If you want to let your pet attack with your 1st Attack you sadly missing something. I dont know how intelligent developers think that this AGGRESSIVE mode for the pet is neccessary and not a simple "Pet attacks with Master" Mode.. If you think you can use AGGRESSIVE Mode for going AFK and let pet get xp for you, it wont work.
- Bag size > You receive a little Bag which is full after a few minutes, i guess you have to buy a bigger with $$$$$$$ from the cash shop.
Overall i saw many unhappy people today talking in Zone Chat, most where dissapointed from the Combat System and the far to long combat times. One guy talked about how sad he is that the game he was waiting for so long is horrible bad and he wanted to delete the game after 1 hour playing. The community seems to be the typical F2P community, egoistic, greedy and not helpfull. They insulted this guy and made it easier for him to leave.
I know level 7 is a joke but at least i played all classes and i was hopeing to find a class that would work for me. in the few hours i was playing i found so many annoying gamebreakers and gamestoppers that i can finally say that this game isnt made for me.
If the Item Shop opens i am sure there will be Damage and XP Boosters, but the developers have set the XP rewards for normal playing to low. I think they want to force players to buy the boosters later when the game is released.
Rate 5.0 and not 8+

irony.
The game is actually really good and over all very well designed... The psionist is very powerful and is about lvl 10 right now for me... Sounds to me like you never really L2P as cliche as that is... If anyone is actually reading this post... Your gear is extremely important in this game so you need to make sure your upgrading often or you will find yourself taking 1-2 mins to kill a mob at your level... But the faction quests are repeatable and so far extremely easy -- so there really is no excuse for anyone not having the faction gear for their level. If you have that -- you won't be complaining any more about battles taking too long.
I think your problem was that the game allows you more customization over your stats than some other games. These extra stats won't matter too much in end game as most will come from gear, but early those stats can matter alot. My guess is you completely ignored perception thus giving mobs a 50-60%+ chance to resist your spells. I leveled several characters and Psi was probably even the fastest to kill stuff. Even just using the psychic shock channel, I could kill most everything in 3 or less uses of that. Add in mental link and the damage dot you can get from that and mobs die fast. Also have the heart attack skill and that about one shots mobs but breaks your mental link. I did see alot of mages taking awhile to kill stuff though, so that class just might be a bit weak early on or again players just didn't know how to distribute their stats so gimped themselves.
I was waiting for the OB in hope the game would improve....
Actually the Combat and time to kill isnt horrible, after level 8-10. For some reason the beginning gear they give you have below par stats, and stats mean alot in the game as well as luck factor for a healer or caster to increase chances of crits etc.
This game just needs a better iintroduction experience into the game and make it more balanced for first 10 levels to where you get better gear and can kill mobs before they get to you, without a worry.
Your right, Combat in the beginning does feel very slow. Even when paired up with someone it takes forever to kill the low level mobs. However, it doesn't stay that way, certainly after level 10 when more abilities open up and regular combo's are completed.
Warriors/Paladin's (and probably scouts though I haven't tried them yet) have massive damage boosts when certain conditions are met.
Psionicists never seem have a problem with killing quickly and only seem to have to balance the time spent in the current fight vs the recovery time after the fight.
So the gripe is true, but only at the lower levels before decent gear and new abilities appear.
Portland, maybe you should go back to all the MMO games you play where all you have to do is click on something and wait for auto attack to kill it...
This game does deserve the hype. Can't blame the game for your lack of English, can you? If you could read, perhaps it wouldn't take you 5 min to kill something because you'd know what stats/skills to get.

"...play the BETA"

Move on, nothing to see here...
edit:
I looked your other posts, and couldnt find even one constructive.
You quit and trashtalked quite a few games.
Fatigue XP does nto stop you from gathering regular XP. Infact it helps you level faster. Once you gain enough Fatigue XP that would cover leveling to the next level you can turn it in or continue to gather XP and Fatigue XP until you reach the daily amount your allowed to gather of fatigue. Its like WoW's rested XP except you gather it from actually fighting and doing quests then sitting on your butt in an in. Its one of my favorite things about the game.
LOL! You could not get above level 7?
I played for 30 minutes and am already at level 5. And combat is not that slow at all.
I like the game so far and will post my own review in the near future.

Truth
Go find another cookie cutter MMO where you reach 20 in a day....and then learn to speak and write clearly....
That is all...over....
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to. Relax....."
Well, the ratings of most if not all MMOs are high in my opinion, something like 7.5 or even higher are standard on this site and many others.
An average game should have a 5 in my opinion, not 7 but that is me.
So sure, lower Allods score but then you would have to re-evaluate the rest of them too if you want to be fair.
A scale from 1-10 should hold games as many games on 1-5 as on 6-10 with 5.5 as Average, 6+ as good and 5- as bad.
But that is my opinion. Scores are personal opinions of the people who writes them, not exact facts.
If Tasos and Zitron both reviews Darkfall they wont give the same score, there are no exact rules for this. The same goes for the rest of the games, the people who writes them are humans like the rest of us and we wont agree with everything they thinks.
OP plainly got in his head that this game has anything to do with Grinding... well big surprise... This game is about questing.
Therefore since your main assumption was wrong, we can freely assume that all other of your assumptions are wrong. You are wrong dear OP. And since you are wrong your opinion is not worth more then those few bits of data your opinion takes in Internet world...

The game is pretty good when i played it. The quests are really well written and the lore is great. Graphics are pretty and the world is well designed. The combat is more boring then a broken snow blower however. Very generic MMO combat, some people think that is the best I tend to hate it and get bored really fast. So i quit.
Keep in mind I hate rpg style combat like that> Hybrid can hold my attention like tabula rasa, aoc, Aion (had a fun combat system) tcos. But this normal combat for me just does not cut it.
The op is clearly not talking about allods online..because not a single thing he says its true, allods its one of the best games since wow..and will have loads new players and more will come from wow to allods...
Well Portland it would seem to me that your opinion = fail. After looking at all of the posts and comments on this game haven't you noticed that you're the only one saying it sucks? Maybe if you learned a little bit more English you could then read and understand quests then do those quests and better equip your level 7....
And it really seems like most of the things you post are all negative bashfests because you can't find a game you like better than Runescape -_-. Come on Portland, don't be such a flaccid penis.
Well all 7 players that joined with me, are gone. Even my patient girlfriend left because the game was to slow and boring for her..
Allods Online is ok. It's not great and not horrible. In some points I agree with the OP, like that the graphics could be better and combat and levelling is very slow. On the other hand it's a F2P game. And that means that the game is made in such a way that you are motivated to buy stuff in the item shop for real money, which helps you levelling. So of course the game is slower than what it would be like if it would be P2P.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
It's been a little while since I played one of the betas, but my experience with the game was ok. Ok meaning I'd give the game a shot once it comes out because it did intrigue me enough to atleast try retail.
I did find the combat a little slow, but not to the extensiveness of the OP. The storyline was neat and the different classes were pretty cool. Character custimization was pretty good for a ftp and the community seemed decent.
Everything about this game seemed pretty average, which makes this game pretty damn good considering it's ftp.
Of course this game is over-hyped, most games are when they first begin.
I predict this game will turn out just like Runes of Magic. A good game with ftp capabilities that lets gamers play in between there next ptp mmo.

i am not sure what some guys are trying to do here, but it looks like the Russians payed some people to defend their crap game on forums like this.
How can you dare to compare this product with WoW ? If you guys truly believe your own words then you need a doctor..........
[/b][/quote]
I understand English isn't your native tounge, but in any laungage calling people mental b/c they don't agree with you, makes you look like a huge douche.
You don't like the game. OK. It doesn't make it bad to others.
And, just to start the comparison of WoW to Allods look at this:
To buy and play WoW today and play for one year (w/ both Xpacks) is $30 + $30 + $180 = $240.
To buy and play Allods today for one year is $0 + $0 + $0 = $0
$0 > $240.
Oh come on, you know that ain't true. People spend tons of money in item shops in F2P games, that's why so many F2P games get released. Sure, a minority of players doesn't spend anything on the game, but a lot of people spend far more on a F2P game per month then they would on a P2P game.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
It's funny because it seems to me the opposite is more likely in this situation. So far I can say with confidence that most that have tried Allods believe it to be between ok to exceptional very few seem to view it the way you do.
I mean the games free to play... so what exactly do they gain by trying to coax people into playing? This isn't one of the pay to plays where you must first buy the game for 50-60 bucks, theres no 200-300 dollar life time sub offer prior to launch. They gain nothing by trying to trick people into playing.
Now a pay to play does have something to gain by tricking others into buying the box or a life time sub or 6 month sub promotional offer prior to launch.
So while your tinfoil hat attempt is ... cute... it seems absurdly illogical.
What I think is more likely is that if anyone has been paid to say anything about Allods it would be those making a sad attempt to bash it. I mean the more people you keep from trying it the better right?
With CCP's EvE and it's free expansions as well as the neat little feature of being able to purchase game time with in game currency.
GW2 on the horizon with no monthly fee, simply buy and play.
DCUO's innovation compared to CO and CoX as well as it's free to play business model
Allods and it's potential to make some waves
It seems far more likely that some would be worried that the traditional monthly fee business model may be in a bit of jeopardy if all the above do well in the west. EvE already is and it's still growing lol.
So.... again while you want to go on about how the Germans have paid people to try and convince others to try out this FREE to play MMO, I don't see how that even registered as logical to you. I do however find logic in others trying to keep others from trying a free to play thats receiving a great deal of hype and even out ranking a lot of pay to plays coming out
So... take that for what you will.
TL;DR
It's simply illogical for one to try and convince others that a FREE TO PLAY MMO is going out of it's way to pay shills to hype there game. It's free to play, there is no box sales to boost, there is no trap to spring lol. The tinfoil hat seems wasted to me on this one. It's far more likely that some have been paid to bash the game, not saying anyone has been just saying its a far more logical assumption when you take the facts into consideration.
The combat is smooth, cool looking and very similiar to WoW. It is too slow because you are too lazy to keep your character upgraded with talent point, stat points and gear. Listen, you and your crew have been playing WoW too long which is so easy mode that you do not even need to go out of your way to upgrade gear & talent points anymore to easily 3 shot mobs of the same level. Allods is different in that way but when you actually put in the absolutely minimal effort in your character, the combat goes fast.
I am summoner lvl 9 and my fights last 10 secs and never lasted more than 30 secs. I am sorry, but you simply do not know what you are doing. The amount of complaints about Allods' slow combat just makes me realize how many players have been so dumbed down by WoW.

couldnt agree more :P
between the different combat, no auto attack, the wonderful graphics, and the Ship battles Can't really find anything wrong with the game besides a few graphical glitches.
