Official release date is?

When is the official release date of this game?

Considering on their site you can down the digital version which implies to me that the game is live?

If it is released can you buy the box in the shops? As there is no mention of it on Amazon.co.uk or Play.com.

They are self publishing, and that's why they aren't on Amazon or anywhere else. You have to buy it through them.

That said, if it was on Amazon they would be subject to you know -- some legal ideals about their business practices, and people wouldn't be allowed to pay full price for them to hold a beta test.

Release is said to be this month.

I'm pretty sure the last statement from the Community Manager is copied below where he tells someone they are 'Flat out wrong" for suggesting the game would be pushed to 2010.  The game was "still on track for a release late this year".

The only other communication I am aware of was a news post where they said they were pushing release back for 1 month.  But they never clearly gave a date.  If you take the original date as "late this year"(2009) and add 1 month.. that means the end of January (or 2 weeks from now..).

You probably would have better success reading tea-leaves though...

    Flat out wrong.

We are still on track for a release late this year.

Game is not released, it is still in beta. They are selling pre-orders of the game.

The only way to get a copy of MO is to order it from the website. The boxed versions are all custom made by a company in sweden and due to it's 18+ rating will most likely not be in a store anytime soon. Also boxed versions are limited, they only made 10k boxes and 999 of those are limited editions.

Correction -- they are selling BETA. The preorder implies that there won't be a copy for you so you better line up and reserve your spot. Plus, preorders don't usually force you to pay full price for the game, either.

You can be on track one day, then stuff happens and you have to push the game back. That happens to damn near every game that is released. They don't have a release date because they can't tell the future and don't want to promise an exact date only to push it back.

That is your opinion. Pre-order implies that you want to order the game before release, Instead of on release day or after release.

I call bullshit, when I pre-ordered WOTLK, they took all of my money upfront and i diddnt get the game until a week after release. With MO they took all of the money upfront, but when release comes I will be able to get a digital download that day.

Also there is a difference between walking in a store and reserving a copy at that store and pre-ordering a game online. The store will most likely take 5 bucks or 10% or whatever, not so much online.

Yes but if you bought WOTLK or any other game online (say, from Amazon) you had the ability to get a 100% refund as long as it didn't ship yet.

Difference is with SV, they don't give you that option. They take your money, and about a month and a half AFTER missing the ship date, they let you know "oh we are running late on delivery". Then another month goes by, and another "oops, sorry -- still delayed!"

Any other company would give refunds because they missed what people accept as a reasonable delay, so there are options. It's also the legal thing to do, because you can't indefinitely hold our money without a product, and just keep saying "it's delayed". Hell, I should start up a company  -- I have a great game I'm making, just send me $50 and I'll send you a game next month. But if it's not done you know -- I still have your money... and you know... I'm good for it.

OP.. what I have posted above is the last official word from the Community Manager and the official Website News section regarding the release date.  If someone has an official update let them provide it, otherwise my advice is that you not let them confuse you.

    Good Luck!

It will be released Q4 2009. Source: www.mortalonline.com/faq#q16

This game is so much like Darkfall one could think its the same people behind them both.

Difference is that this time they got 10.000 copies sold and release date keeps getting pushed back. It was originally Summer 2009, then Q3 2009 and now Q4 2009.

But it is 2010 and no release date in sight. This game is a scam.

I paid for this game in hopes that it will survive because im tired of wow and all the other bs games out there and this one has everything im looking for. EVERYTHING!!!  So since my comp cost an arm and a leg I finally get to use it to its full potencial and those of you on the old comps will be easy kills as you lag one moment and revive the next. MUAHAHAHA. BTW, it does level like Darkfall, no one knows what your skills are but you. The more you do a skill (magic, weapons, steal jump, etc. ) the better you get at it. 2 things can hurt this game. The graphics are so good most people can't afford a comp good enough to play it but as hooked on these games as most of us are I dought that will be the case as long as you have a TV, car or grandmother to sale. The other is the scary one being if the company can deliver. Within 4 months ( some say 1 month but I seriuslly dought i) we will find out. Oh well, back to wow   : (

I thought that this was the MO forum. What game did you say you are fawning all over? It sure as hell doesn't sound like MO.

Since the graphics are set at low how do you know how good they look? You a dev or what? The graphics are actually ass if you really look at them. The sky is pretty but that is about it. Everything else is a low rez blurred texture that looks like it was water color painted on.

I can primise you that the former will never happend.

They are using a good gfx engine but the textures and models are quite bad. Nowhere near that of AoC so a complete overhaul would be needed for that and considering their lack of resources that will not happen before launch.

However they do have the gfx engine for it so it could potentially happen in the future. But before launch? Not a chance. And after? They will need to hire some seriously talented 3D artists for that.
