Thinking about getting this =] - Bought it now

fanat1kfanat1k Member UncommonPosts: 67

I have been reading quite a few threads about it and got the idea that it is a heavy PvP game, which seems cool to me, I was wandering if someone could tell me some unique features this game has apposed to other MMO's, thanks alot =].

Edit: Just bought it.

Darkfall is a huge, open, beautifully hand-crafted world that has:  Player housing, villages, player owned hamlets, player owned cities, 6 races, sieges, siege equipment, mounts from day 1, skill based, aimed attacks & spells, trade routes, ships of all varrying sizes, sea monters, dragons, sharks, many other cool mobs, awesome mob AI, great PvE, best PvP, almost everything craftable, slotmachines, clan politics, huge wars, accountability, numerous trade skills.

Guys, did I leave anything out?

Edit:  LOL, almost forgot, full loot free-for-all pvp.

    It's actually 6 races =)

But yeah, Darkfall will offer you a combat experience you won't be able to experience in any other MMO on the market, period, and if PvP is one of your favorite things to do, I'd highly recommend giving this game a try.

If you're looking for an instanced, lead-me-by-the-hand type of game, this isn't for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for an open game where you decide your fate by making your own decisions then Darkfall is for you.

    I used to play UO.

So my question about this game is this? Are there rune stones you recall off of like UO? or pretty much you have to travel everywhere by foot? Or is there a mage spell to where you can teleport? Also, in the dungeons are they pitch black to were you might need a torch or need to cast a light spell? And are there alot of dungeons? or caves or whatever ?

    Thanks

You can go to a trade hub, pay them gold for money and start a trade route. You have to then run to the other side of the world and turn it in for gold. You apparently get better rewards if you run traderoutes for the same faction over and over again, not sure if that works though.

Got this game last night.  Awesome is not enough to sum it up.  If you like sandbox MMOs with full pvp, this is for you.

Runestone's are in.  You mark them and you can (as a one time use) recall back to that spot.  They are fairly rare though.  Dungeons are not pitch black, and no torches.

PS:  I have two for sale at ruby, pst (1500 each).

If you are on NA, apply to NEW in the clan tab, they run a 30 day crash course on how to play the game. It really helps get people into the game quick.

WOW this thread just made me want to get this... Why is it not well ranked in this site ?

It had a fairly bad release but has improved leaps and bounds from what it was.  Not many official reviews have been done on the game and the few reviews that were done was by a WoW carebear themepark fanboy who spent very little time actually in the game.

Which server should newbs start on if they are thinking about getting the game? I know the obvious answer would be a geographic one, but i'm more concerned about server populations.

I played EU-1 for 1-2 months through beta and launch, and never had any ping issues  so i dont really care about pings.

    Thoughts?

From what I've read, EU has a higher population than NA, but NA seems more active. I have no idea if that's true, just what I've read.

I'll bet Agricola would disagree with this. :)

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

Base it on your timezone. EU1 is said to be slightly more populated but US1 would be a much better choice if you'd be playing during EU1 off-hours.
