The artworks look really nice but that was the best part of the first game too. I hope they remake movements and combat for this.

But the art and graphics people are really good.

The lack of female piglets was the only thing that kept me from trying this game, so I am really excited.

They aren't making a 2nd version of the game.  This is a common tactic used by localization companies and publishers to bolster sales for a second time.  There is probably never going to be an actual sequel to Granado Espada because of who runs IMC Games.  From a programing perspective Granado Espada is a monumental achievement.  To redo that work would require re-investment into the company and years of re-development.  Something IMC Games is not doing.  They are instead focusing programming development to a Martial Arts based mmo and a spiritual successor to Ragnarok.  You can't really divide up a programming staff that much.  Its also uncommon for a development house like IMC Games to make many games at once and waste time developing a sequel to the game they just finished.

Chances are K2 Networks, the localization company for North America wants to get another return similar to its release of the game.  So they delay/stockpile updates, then make a clump of updates and say its a sequel.  It may also be Hanbitsoft the publisher trying to get an extra buck on a game with little long-term appeal.

I believe my assumptions to this point are shown because the screen shots are from an update that was done in Korea nearly 2 years ago and an update already applied to the other English localization.

For those who have played this game is actually pretty good. It is not your cut and paste generic MMOG for anyone who is looking for a different type of game. It has both sandbox and themepark apeal to it along with the ability to control more than one character at a time. The graphics, art, and music are some of the best around.

SotNW was my favorite MMORPG to release in 2007 for North America, and it was definitely a love-and-hate relationship.

The multi-character controls was really good in my opinion. At launch, players already had the option of 100+ stances (basically individual "sub-class" skill sets) available in 5 archtypes excluding unique playable character builds that you can obtain. The barrack idea lets you support a lot of characters and treat your party options in a way similar to how you consider which cards in a trading card game should go into your play deck.

It was unfortunate that the auto-defend feature was practically a built-in botting program. That was probably the worst thing to have happened to the community at launch, when you find 50+ guildmates logged in but all AFK-leveling. Even after that, SotNW was still one of the better games to dedicate to because of how good PvP can get at times. But the game kept adding elements to make its players even more lazy, like auto-loot pets.

The grind that so many players complained about was nowhere as bad as the lack of community interaction that resulted from the botting support in terms of sealing SotNW's fate. In fact, a focused player can burn through enemies so many times faster than a player in bot-mode that maximizing kill rate becomes an art.

SotNW should have been way more successful in its niche, and I hope SotNW2 does more to encourage an active community.

I don't see any more detail in the graphics than in the original, they must be just rehashing the old engine with a new skin and hoping the new excitement will entice some new cash flow. They could have at the very least ,try utilizing hi res textures,it is not hard and not a big deal, especially since i would hope to see a big improvement over the first...aka EQ>EQ2.This look like EQ>EQ nothing improved.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

If you didn't like the gameplay then don't play a sequel. It's not going to change. The MCC system is what sets SNW apart from EVERY other MMO.

There is NOT going to be a new game but rather a new update for the old one. Search GE for latest updates that SNW will get and you will see the same UPC in those artworks.

It is just play on words.

SNW : Sword of the new world the name used on US/EU

GE: Granado Espada the name used in SEA.

The game was fun initially, but you are funneled everywhere you go, the quests become mind numbingly boring and the huge grind becomes overwhelming.  True you can bot the game, but what is the point?

You know, I could make a long post going on and on on how much of a let down this game was for me...but I havent eaten breakfast yet and I'm hungry so no.

But I will say this much; I was telling everyone about this game months before release, and when it finally came out they were all like "dude, this is garbage" it looks great but the movement and grinding sucked. Of course this was all just our opinions, not the opinions  of the gaming world. I would never try this game again...ever.

I'm going to make an omlet.

This sucks. You're definitely right. I was really hoping for a whole new game.

Such a lame attempt if you ask me, they will only get the same results they got the first time, this was very mis0leading. I too thought it was a sequal.

    meh...

SNW is a great game, don't get me wrong. The problem is... the game had nowhere to go. It was GRIND GRIND GRIND to get to Veteran. Then what? I got there and all i found i was able to do was AFK in Abertal over night. The only way to get ahead was to get good gear. In most cases, how did you do that? Boxing. Boxing is fun for the first million boxes. Beyond that, it's boring. SNW just got really tedious and unrewarding.

I came so close to LOL'ing when I clicked through.  Pink pigs definitely were not what I was expecting, and for a very brief moment it was as though MMORPG.com had trolled GE.

With that said, sure, they look alright.  The graphics and music were always the best part of this game IMO.

They have just been holding back a bunch of content updates and now decided to call it Sword of the New World 2.

The western publisher of this game continues to make one mistake after another. This game deserves a much better publisher.

It's a real disappointment, too. The GMs and AMs are so great. The mass of employees K2 has assigned to SNW are all 100% great guys. The organization of the the company is what kills them. They lag behind and try to use ancient business practices to cover up their sluggishness.
