Here is my idea: Once player his lvl 60 , give them a choice to stay 60, or gain master levels. The master lvls would be very hard quests requiring groups.
Once the player reaches the max level, probably 70-100 they get a sort of nirvana legend ranking that allows them to broadcast chat messages in a special color, command larger raids, such as 4 raiding parties in one legend raiding party, and the ability to own permanent land and towns, in which you may place NPCs and other features.
How does that sound?

Wow, that would take so long to code in, granted it would be awesome, but it takes the dynamics out of the game, people would just whore themselves out as mercs, and it would be even worse if you made money off the NPC's. Good concept though.

More content is coming, The great portal is yet to be opened. And Battlegrounds is practicaly the thing your talking about. The big cities will become Raidable and mutch more. Blizzard has given us many clues about what content will be added. This is just the beginning

just wait till battlegrounds and hero class gets added that should be fun enough for every lvl till next exp pack comes out and im kinda sure the first or second pack will include housing like always with almost each mmorpg
It would be better if we allowed players to have a role in the world, a little bit EVE-style. It's what I miss about cookie-cutter MMORPG's like these.
Thats the best idea i've heard so far. But there should also be legend quests like to open or stop or close the massive portal, which i dont know because i've never played any warcraft games from opening. And if you complete the quest you'll be a legend with golden text and u can choose an aura or blessing not found otherwise in the game to always be on you. Or a unique weapon or acess to certain mounts or owning a mount, like a hippogryph and fly it anywhere with you controlling and whenever you enter a city on of your faction, have the guards salute you.
That sounds like WoW isn't such a great after all and I should really reconsider if trying it out when the Euro servers pop up is really worth it.

Lessee. Reach level 60. Reward: you get to grind even more to get some silly game mechanical bonuses to restrictions that shouldn't have originally even been there, had the game been designed better? Yuk.
As someone already said, redesigning so that you can have an impact to the game world and to the game for the other players is teh win.
It beats standing around doing nothing coz everything else is too easy. Plus you get rewards for it.

mmmh. different chat color? what is the point of that? doesn't my level 100 flag over my head make my special enough already?
4 raid groups together? 160 people? again.. what is the point? or you suggest that there would be content in which you need such amount of people together?
Own permanent land and towns? while the previous are ideas i would not mind seeing as they are neutral to me, this is a big No-NO. Giving high level players ability to change the world in such a drastic way? what? where Goldshire went today? why there are just trolls berserker in stormwind? oh please no. just No. Giving high level players instances where they can make their own cities, well, now that is more reasonable and similar to what Mythica wanted to do and Tabula Rasa Will (hopefully) do. Still, that will prolly need a great deal of time to implement.
So far we can look forward to Hero Classes and battlegrounds yai!

Not a very good idea, I'll tell you why.
People will just grind, and most programmers don't want this. They want you to casually go through the game doing all the quests, exploring, etc. Basically, adding more levels, and adding legendary rankings, is just a waste, and could be better used on things. If we add 40 more levels, and everyone reaches lvl 100, won't everyone want to be lvl 150, then 200, then 250? Think about the newer people, how are they EVER going to catch up?
The only thing that keeps a MMORPG alive once a person is capped out in levels, is to make high level dungeons, content, continents, etc, and make an in-depth PVP system. This could include things like an *honor system* which could work just like XP, maybe in "PVP points" or something, and at every "level" after gaining so many "pvp points" you get a "PVP" ranking, or "PVP" skill/item, etc.. not only could in-depth PVP be installed, but possibly the 'unlocking' of more characters/races. For instance, getting to 60 allows you to get a ______ race, getting to 60 again allows you to get a __________ class, getting to PVPLVL10 gets you a __________ continent. In-depth is everything in a game. General, broad, plots and background doesn't help increase the funfactor in the game. The leveling is fine, the mobs, quests, etc, are fine. More indepthcity has to be intertwined into the game, and much more content needs to be put in.
Please note that WOW is basically still in BETA as it's only in it's third month since launch. So yeah. Don't get too jumpy.

First off it's a misconception that grouping or raiding content makes a game more challenging. By creating too much group/raid only content, you will alienate solo players as EQdead did starting with the Planes of Power expansion. EQ2 is scrambling to add solo content to that game because soloing was not a viable option originally, and the game is failing financially without soloer subscriptions.
It's always easier to take down a mob in a group rather than solo it. You can make mobs impossible to solo, but that does not make the game harder if a group can kill the same mob easily. Wow has plenty of content for both soloers and group oriented people already.
What makes a game challenging, is a difficult lvling process backed by valid experience loss for losing in battle, by slowing exploration because of the healthy respect for the environment a player will possess for fear of the experience loss penalty of dying, by limiting travel to running only and thus preserving the game world's scope and scale, by designing quests that need to be figured out, not just scripted with flagged NPCs so the masses can zerg thru them easily.
WoW has a lot of good design features, but it fails for me and other so called hardcore players because it is just too easy. The fact we had numerous lvl 60 players a month after release proves that. The battle loss penalty is insignificant, does not make me fear death or fear taking foolish chances and leaves me with an unrealistic view of the environment.
WoW is designed for the mass market of players who honestly don't want to be challenged. Most players want an easy fun game that is not very difficult to figure out or advance in. They don't want to be punished with penalties for playing poorly or have to master their skills in order to take down tough mobs.
Transforming WoW for so called hardcore players is not an option. I am hoping that "Mourning" will be a game that will provide a challenge for me and other so called hardcore players.

If your wanting to change WoW to a more challenging and more risky kind of game, it will just not happen.
Changing it now will alter the community as we know it and will have terrible effects to every "casual" gamer out there. It won't happen.
If Blizzard wants WoW to hold strong, they should keep it the way it is.
The thing about EQ2 is its made by the same people as EQ1 and based on EQ1, they know how to hook people for long periods of time. I don't need any crap about WoW upgrading, people buy a game and play it and don't want to admit that THEIR game isn't the best, everyone wants theres to be the best and it just depends on some stupid impression that made them start playing in the first place. Thats all WoW is, a stupid impression for the easily amused. Unfortunately, amusement doesn't come so easy for me so I'll have to stay with EQ2.
The thing about people who play MMORPG's is that they feel inadequate in some way, maybe you don't make enough money, or you are bad looking, or you are just plain lazy. Maybe your life isn't exciting enough, so you play a game for any number of reasons. Several universities have done research on the MMORPG addiction including mine (Johns Hopkins).
Overall, you should know that you will never come to a conclusion and part of the reason you are playing an MMORPG is because you want to feel better about your crappy life and you want to be a character that is important, that puts you on top. But you can't do that unless the game in which your character exists is the "top" game or "best" game. This was easily accomplished with EQ, which was always on top but, in this circumstance, many people are grasping for which game will end up on top in the end.
THis game will be EQ2 simply because WoW is too easy. Its been out for like 2 months, of course retarded MMORPG people will think its fun and want to tell me about it. The thing about EQ2 is, it will be fun for high levels as EQ was and WoW will not be. Plain and simple. Simply games are fun for a while, but MMORPG addicts like yourselves will need your EQ2 fix once WoW starts sucking. MArk my words, this will happen.

Making game more challenging doesn't mean adding more grind such as increasing level caps, giving new things to work for, etc. Blizzard is going to add Battlegrounds (in several months by their standards) which is supposed to be good PvP expeirence. A good PvP is fun even when repeated many times, end game raids over and over to get some meaningless progress points are not. So all Blizz have to really do is to make Battlegrounds and honor system worth it.
